    This is my favorite way to make a wrist corsage! I always found the ones with the elastic bands slide around the mum's wrists, and metal adapters were a nightmare to work with.

    Cannot thank you enough for this. I had to make a corsage at the last minute as ALL the flower shops could not fulfill my order so I was panicking. I couldn't even get a slap wrist with adapter so I ended up making an adapter with...wait for it...shrinky dink sheets!! It actually worked...I was shocked. I just put slits on both sides for the ribbon and zip ties to secure the arrangement. Turned out so beautiful and I could NOT have done it without your guidance so thank you!!

    • @FlowerMoxie
      @FlowerMoxie  5 років тому +13

      As a florist, I prefer to make them the day-of, but I have made them the day before, as well. I mainly put the hot glue on the ribbon or tape, let it cool, then insert my bloom. I have made them with a low-temp hot glue gun, hot floral glue, and normal floral glue and have found the results to be generally the same across the board. I prefer a glue gun because it sets up faster and is less messy. Typically, floral glue is very runny and sometimes hard to control.

    • @amymccord6480

      As a florist for 9 years, I've used the hot floral adhesive, the regular room temp glue, and the low heat hot glue gun, and for me, I've found the gun to be the best. I think professional adhesive is like working with honey and doesn't set up well. I tend to make mine the day of or the day before and haven't had them brown on me....or fall off when the MOB dances her little heart out. =)

      You can make them 3 days in advance if you keep them in a Hydration Chamber. This essentially is tubberware lined with a damp paper towel, then layer a damp paper towel over the top of the flowers, pop the lid on, and store in the refrigerator until the day of the event! It hydrates the flowers from the inside out!

    Can I use regular hot glue? Or will it damage the natural flowers?

    • @FlowerMoxie
      @FlowerMoxie  5 років тому +1

      I prefer to use a low-temp hot glue gun. I like to put the glue on the ribbon, the zip tie, or a flat leaf and let it cool before inserting a bloom. I have done it with profesh floral glue and the method I mentioned above and found the results are the same regarding how long the blooms hold up. I find floral glue to be really runny and it takes a good while for it to set up. The only issue with hot glue is you want to be careful not to burn your fingers.

      Corsages, bouts, and crowns cost minimal in the floral product. There's probably a few dollars worth of flowers because often you use the scraps and broken items. • @barbkonrad6361
    @barbkonrad6361 11 місяців тому +1

    Yes, it looks quick & easy. For something immediate or in a pinch, this works. I personally like the small zip tie idea for certain applications. That's the ONLY thing that's a take away for me on this video.
    However, if you don't correctly WIRE & then tape roses for a boutonniere, there's no stability to the flowers & they will easily snap off with any mishandling. Guys are generally not known for being careful with their boutonnieres. And the arrangement doesn't look so great when the flowers are missing.
    And then, HOT glue on fresh flowers? I CRINGED when I saw this. That burns & damages the flowers. Poor babies. The only glue for fresh flowers is floral glue that florists use.
    Correct methods take longer (I know because I've literally made thousands of boutonnieres & corsages), but the results will have better lasting power & performance.

    • @FlowerMoxie
      @FlowerMoxie  11 місяців тому +1

      We recommend using a low temperature hot glue, so flowers and foliage don't get burned by high temps. We have a longer and more in depth video where we touch on this. We also love floral glue and recommend that whenever it's available! There are so many methods of making boutonnieres and corsages and everyone has a specific and different way of doing them! We try tot be open to lots of different techniques, there's always so much to learn!
