Your tutorial was so awesome Tina! I’m 42 and new at this contouring biz. I’m an old-school slap on some foundation kinda gal. Your tute made it look easy peasy and I’m now a contour convert.
Can I just say: this is the first contouring tutorial that seems clear enough for me as an autistic person. Thank you, Tina, for making contouring a little less intimidating for me. :) Keep up the good work. Most of the time I find myself really confused when it comes to contouring. People just throw some product names around and start applying it in a way that I've literally never heard of before, and with brushes I'm seeing for the first time. That makes me feel like I have to be halfway to a professional make-up artist to even try. But this tutorial is really easy to understand. This is literally all of the information I need in a simple, precise explanation. And I finally get to find out what all those brushes I often see are for. I really wish someone would've explained brushes to me before, because they seemed so overwhelming when I first saw how many different types there were.
I like how unlike other tutorials, Tina uses foundation that isn't as dark and concealer that isn't too much lighter than her skin tone. It makes her makeup look a lot more settle and really elegant.
I literally just bought that exact foundation stick to try contouring my face with today. 15 minutes before clicking this video that was in my recommended box. Spooky. But I'm glad I bought it now.
+Iliana Aguilar yeah, you do, and you aren't supposed to contour your forhead at all if you already have a small forhead, unless you like a small forhead of course, and want to make it look even smaller. Thats why I dont get why Tina contoured her forhead and only slightly highlighted it, when se already has a small forhead.
+Teresa Fong Daily care in Asian-American skin is important since our skin is genetically accustomed to a drier climate. I think it may help if you wash your face whenever you just need to feel refreshed! Rinse and repeat and there's your perfect base of skin to contour ^^
+Sae Du hmm i never thought of it that way wow. Well I'll try it, let's hope some changes will appear. Changes that lasts for more than a handful if days >.
Super useful, especially for someone like me who doesn't own much make up and wants to start trying things out so I can someday move on to the higher brands! Thanks!
I doubt she'll find this comment but Tina I just started doing makeup for the first time on my own. I'm 19 and I've waited for a long time to do makeup because it never occurred to me that I "have" to wear them. I'm only doing them now because I wanted to learn how to do makeup for myself. Everytime I needed help with the basics of makeup your video would pop up and I'd watched them. I'm so happy knowing you practically made almost all the basics of makeup that I need. Thank you so much and I'm excited to begin this makeup journey.
I never understood contouring until I watched this video. I liked how you explained why certain parts needed to be highlighted "to bring it forward" & contoured "to make it look sculpted" .
I've never contoured before. I've watched several tutorials so far, and they were all super intimidating. The amount of steps was insane and the sheer number of products used was overwhelming. Your tutorial is the first one that I watched and felt like I could actually do it myself. I'm gonna pick up the products at the drug store and give it a shot. Thank you!!!
This sounds stupid but I'm almost 38 I dont know how to do this because when I was young it was the 80s and makeup was soooo much different lol..after having kids I gave up makeup all to gether but I am getting a but older and having some self esteem issues so I decided to try this contouring thing and omg I was so over whelmed!! So many different products and different ways to apply them! I really almost gave up and your video just totally changed my outlook on the whole thing...you made it easy to understand and showed which products and brushes to use ..you didnt talk to fast or fast forward everything ..from the bottom of my heart thanks..really it made my day and I'm ordering stuff as we speak lol ty!
Tina, I AM SO GLAD I FOUND YOU!!! You are an EXCELLENT teacher and I am thrilled to be learning how to make myself look great again. Life happens and I need to get it looking good so better comes. Perk up buttercup, you are a blessing!
Maybe I am alone in saying this but I'd rather you not feel obligated to use cheaper products unless you actually prefer them over them higher end. I personally would like to know what you love and how it applies and such rather than you settling for something you dont like as much but use because we demand drugstore makeup. On a separate note, I love how easy you make makeup application seem:)
thanks for this! so far the easiest, simplest and most specific contouring I've ever seen. I mean it's so detailed that I added it to my faves videos. I badly needed this as I'm going to attend a wedding come Saturday! am sure this is fon na be a big help.
And here I am finally watching a beginner video that shows WHERE to exactly start the highlights on the cheeks. I always felt like i needed to know the angles because it seemed as though different people place it where it needed to be done on them which makes sense but there was never an explanation to why, just nothing but flawless results. this is a great beginner how to just know why and how so thank you! I see this is 2 years old and idc lmao. Bless you Tina! Hits Subscribe button!
I'll be attending a wedding in summer and want to have a full face of make up. It will be humid so can I have some tips so my make up doesn't melt off my face
Missi Vivi I don't know how old you are but baking can be rough under the eyes if u don't have an extremely fine powder and even then it can still be drying but powder is ur friend for setting ur makeup. Using waterproof or resistant products are key. Anything water based will slide right off in the humidity. Keep some things in your bag for touch ups just in case. Remember the places on ur face where the sweat will show up or gather the most like ur forehead, under the eyes n ear ur cheeks and over the middle of ur nose, the upper lip. Places like that need the extra powder. Not under your eyes too high though. Only bake where that sweat may be like just where your top of the cheekbone moves into your nose. Too high under your eye can cause texture or crepe skin where you don't want it. Also make sure there's some color to the powder. You don't want to look like u just smacked ur face with baby powder. Translucent isn't always translucent lol. If you go coo coo for contour please blend. Even in this video with a pro doing it the blending still wasn't enough to stop that 5 o'clock shadow look on the jaw and if you're in the sun it is soooo obvious. Practice ahead of time ,in the sun, till you think it's good to go on that day but don't wait til the actual day. Lol. Take a mirror outside and move that face all around checking from every angle so u can tell what works and what doesn't. Less is more with too much color or dark color when ur in the sun and/or sweating. Hit that setting spray. If your powder looks too heavy under your eyes a spritz of rose water works like a charm ( Wayne Goss has videos on this and anything else) Don't forget your blotting paper and have a great time. Good luck!😊👍🏼
Lisa PPhoenix kinda covered it all, the only thing i would add is to have an amazing primer and if you do get a setting spray, mix it with liquid products like foundation or any other cream you have.
i'm really oily in the t-zone and neither cream or powder products lasts more than 3 hours when i contour my nose. I really don't want to keep re-contouring because it gets quite cakey. Do you have any suggestions for this? Thanks.

I love her she's so pretty without makeup. she always had good info. I'm a person who needs affordable makeup with the occasional splurge. I'm getting the message out if anyone is concerned, and some may know: MAC, Estee Lauder, Loreal, Maybelline, and Rimmel are not cruelty free. I am not a bully just sharing info because I was surprised. Flower, wet n wild, hard candy, elf. urban decay Kat Von D, Jeffrey star, cruelty free. I have been bullied for sharing this. Please let's not be negative, yes I'm vegan they can be oppininated ,and nasty like some famous you tubers. That's not my intention, just sharing. xoxoxo
I would say that it's not only a right, but an obligation to inform people about these kinds of products. I mean animals are suffering just so some rich people can get prettier. That is way worse than just stating it. Even if it's "annoying" to speak the truth, well it is what it is. So well done and thank you for actually saying that :)
I have to add ARBONNE!! Cruelty free is one facet but sometimes makeup still has animal bi-products inside. Arbonne is certified Vegan also, so you can be sure of what you're putting on your skin hasn't hurt anyone else... Send me any other ?s at ashewoodz@gmail.com - I'm an Arbonne consultant so I can get you discounts if you're concerned about the price:) Thanks for bringing this point up!!
Why is it that when I apply concealer, it always looks very caky? I've tried Maybelline's FitMe and Instant Age Rewind concealer and they always look so caky and dry. I've tried using primer beforehand and also translucent powder afterwards, but they don't make it any better. Great video though! I will try this contouring method, but skip the concealing part. 👍
+Noelani maybe you need to use a setting spray, it lessens powdery look and ive read that it makes the foundation look smoother so maybe that will work, this is my problem too
i should totally try using a foundation stick, been using contour powder but i have dry patches on my face and this may help it look a bit more clean haha
This was a really good tutorial. Really easy to follow. She's lucky, she already has beautiful features but, I can see how contouring and makeup application can further enhance them. Brilliant
Hi Tina. As an older guy with some uneven spots from sun damage I really appreciate your videos. I do use foundation and have tried my hand at contouring but now I have a much better idea of what I should be doing. I will be buying the products you listed on this video. Again, thank you 😊
You can do either. Online you can find some good deals but most of it is expensive. Local stores should have a good selection for someone that's new to makeup. I started with blush, eyeshadow, and lipstick. Then I just bought other types of makeup and kept progressing. Plus you have to experiment with your skin type.
This is the 8th video I've seen on how to contour for beginners& yours is indeed my favorite, I Love how you went with detail after detail & explaining on how to. I Thank you for showing me how to go about it...can't wait to try it. Thumbs up pretty lady =-)
Priscilla Lander You look fantastic love, check out my #youtubechannel for full face contour and another eyeshadow look beautifully done like yours ua-cam.com/video/HVjvuwA-AO0/v-deo.html ❤️
You were very descriptive and helpful. I'm truly a beginner with makeup. I just went shopping with my friend last night who's really good at makeup to teach me what to buy because Im such a newb. We did set a date night so she can teach me in person but she learned from youtube so Im trying to inform myself and you did an awesome job explaining!
Couple minutes in the video and already I'm liking the Aussie accent. She's so gorgeous girlfriend I've never contoured my face. But after watching this I'm going to give it a go....lol 🙄😂
Mai Tzong Her you can get a high light and contour stick at Walmart for just a couple bucks. They have elf brand brushes for $1 each too (elf used to be a Nordstrom product, very trustworthy brand). You dont need all the fancy $30 brushes or $40 fenty contour stick. Cheap stuff works just as good.
Thank you for this video!! Im curently a student studying esthitician and makeup artistry and i love it! I have watched a ton of videos on contouring and yours is my favorite! You really explain and showcase very well...i apprecoate it!!
okay, so i dont know if I am the only one who noticed that she didnt blend her highlight under her eye completely??? I can see that part under eye not covered with highlight. Did she do that on purpose, like it is part of eye makeup or she just didnt realize it?
Omg thank you found this video you have explained it better than anyone now I feel I have the nerve to try this new way of applying makeup. I'm 57 and tired of old ways . Want to look as young as I can ! A Million thanks 😊
I find that the Maybelline is too warm for me. I have pink undertones. I think a warm contour only really works on neutral or yellow undertones. Those of us with pink undertones need a cooler contour.
I really enjoyed your video I'm a major beginner at contouring and i feel more confident at what i am doing now and how to apply my make up. Thank you, I'm inspired.

That's not my intention, just sharing. xoxoxo
anniemarie McIlhenny84 ok.
What about mary k and it cosmetics?
thebooklover mary k test on animals. Avoid if you can 😊
After watching this 3x, I still need a makeup artist. I might end up looking like a cheeta.
You didn't blend under your eyes ???
AHHH!! I noticed that and it was driving me crazy!!
+Trisha Kasilova
Yes very strange 😡
i think thats because she has already worn makeup for her eyes. if she blend the concealer, it would make a huge mess. just my opinion tho
+Rayne Turnbull! Me too!!
If she has eyes that crease all of the time, I can understand why.
i just used it now thanks for the tutorial miss Tina Yong now i feel fabulous , my eyes feels more shiny and the rest of the face is more relaxed
beautiful
I love ur channel ❤❤❤
hiiiiiiiii your channel is awesome!
+Noelani Try applying moisturizer to your undereye area, lovely. c: xx
try moisturizing before hand. like i usually apply and eye cream or serum before I apply makeup. Basically anything that gives moisture will do.
+Noelani I thought it was just me, I always look caky. On the videos everything is perfect.
+Noelani maybe you need to use a setting spray, it lessens powdery look and ive read that it makes the foundation look smoother so maybe that will work, this is my problem too
I have the same kind of problem. Mine doesn't look cakes but it is never smooth like I see other people
i should totally try using a foundation stick, been using contour powder but i have dry patches on my face and this may help it look a bit more clean haha
Thank you!! Nobody explains makeup better than you.
This was a really good tutorial. Really easy to follow. She's lucky, she already has beautiful features but, I can see how contouring and makeup application can further enhance them. Brilliant
I've been teaching myself realistic drawing by watching tutorials and this was very interesting to watch
I just started watching your videos and I really like them plus you seem really nice! Keep up the good work
Thank you so much! :)
i have seen several contour tutorials but i must say only ur vedeo made me understand how to do it right... love from India
Perfectly demonstrated! I've mastered everything else except contouring, this helped a lot. Thank you! 😊
Love the tut! The only suggestion I have is to give guidance as to how light or dark I need to go according to my skin color. Do I go 2 shades? 1?
I was at ulta yesterday and was told that you should go 2 shades darker
Who else here thinks that Tina is underrated?
This tutorial was perfect for the instructions I was seeking. God bless her...She's flawless...Pretty girl!
I don't know why I can't do my nose contour, when I do it, it looks bad to me. idk
same!
E M I L Y'S H E R E mee too
Trust me it's easy but the trick is how u brush it
Hi I Love
Thank you, Tina! Very helpful and caring for the details, needs and specifics of the person! And beautiful :)
you need no faundation! Your skin is perfect !!
Well some people just apply makeup for the art, not to cover up anything.
+Cherry i know that .
Hi Tina. As an older guy with some uneven spots from sun damage I really appreciate your videos. I do use foundation and have tried my hand at contouring but now I have a much better idea of what I should be doing. I will be buying the products you listed on this video. Again, thank you 😊
I'm gonna be new at using makeup but do you shop online for makeup of just bye then at local stores?
buy**
You can do either. Online you can find some good deals but most of it is expensive. Local stores should have a good selection for someone that's new to makeup. I started with blush, eyeshadow, and lipstick. Then I just bought other types of makeup and kept progressing. Plus you have to experiment with your skin type.
+Kylie Duclos oh ok thank you this would really help me
+Kamila Zayas you're welcome.
You did a great job demonstrating!!! thank you for the tips!

Is it just me or she looks a lot like CL in this video? :) :)
it's not just you honey❤

When doing makeup, being an artist comes in handy ;^) 🤙✨💕
Just watched the contouring video. Being an older woman never did this b4 but going 2 start. Love it ❤❤
You're so pretty you dont even need makeup. Are you from Australia by any chance? I love the accent❤️
Muffin & Buttercup British maybe
Australian
Muffin & Buttercup yeh she probably is because I love her accent too
Page The Muderer I'm British I don't sound anything like that and nobody else that I've met does either she sounds more Australian x
Most of those make up I don't even have....😖😖😖😖
Mai Tzong Her you can get a high light and contour stick at Walmart for just a couple bucks. They have elf brand brushes for $1 each too (elf used to be a Nordstrom product, very trustworthy brand). You dont need all the fancy $30 brushes or $40 fenty contour stick. Cheap stuff works just as good.
Same lol
Mai Tzong Her girl!!! I started buying my makeup on amazon everyday paycheck lol.... one thing every check I get so I can afford it 😁
Morphe brushes are not too expensive
Mai Tzong He
Omg your tutorial was so easy to follow. Thank you so much!
Thank you for this video!! Im curently a student studying esthitician and makeup artistry and i love it! I have watched a ton of videos on contouring and yours is my favorite! You really explain and showcase very well...i apprecoate it!!
This was very informative!!!
okay, so i dont know if I am the only one who noticed that she didnt blend her highlight under her eye completely??? I can see that part under eye not covered with highlight. Did she do that on purpose, like it is part of eye makeup or she just didnt realize it?
I noticed too
Who is scrolling down to view comments in 2019?
Cheryl Moore does it really matter though lol who cares about dates it's so cringe when ppl comment about them
@@stillfly5555 it's just a bit of fun, like a little wink to everyone still watching... ain't gotta be so sour 🤷♀️
Me
2020 😝
No honey, we in 2020 now
Omg thank you found this video you have explained it better than anyone now I feel I have the nerve to try this new way of applying makeup. I'm 57 and tired of old ways . Want to look as young as I can ! A Million thanks 😊
Im totally no idea how to use make up kits.. appreciate it if you can upload a video for basic make up
I have a question if I'm going to use foundation as my contour how many shades darker than my skin tone should I use?
2-3
+Alina Chen thanks:)
While watching Tina...
Me : *Well, that was pretty easy*
After buying Maybelline stick foundation...
Also me : *Fxxk* it how ?! 😭
WannaBangTwice ExoShiDae is it ok to have a concealer that matches your skin maybe a bit darker
*_use powder contouring instead of these foundations or contouring sticks_*
I find that the Maybelline is too warm for me. I have pink undertones. I think a warm contour only really works on neutral or yellow undertones. Those of us with pink undertones need a cooler contour.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 right??
I really enjoyed your video I'm a major beginner at contouring and i feel more confident at what i am doing now and how to apply my make up. Thank you, I'm inspired.
