Beastie Boys are in the bedrock of hip hop they ARE NYC the early 80’s era.. they put LL COOL J ON at 16 .. public enemy was in their first tour . No one WILL EVER have the credentials like these 3 MC’s .. they didn’t just bring hip hop into the mainstream they paved the way for MANY MANY PEOPLE WHO came in … they were true fans and had nothing but love. R.I.P. Yauch / MCA you will always be missed.🙏 Def jam was Rick Rubin’s dorm room.
Brass Monkey was an alcoholic drink - some kind of pre-made cocktail (I don't think I ever saw it in a liquor store back then, but I guess they had it in NYC for the Beasties to find it). Chivas is a whiskey and Moet is champagne. Oh, and the Beastie Boy's name mentioned in the lyrics pronounced "Add Rock", not "A. D. Rock".
We had it in San Diego when I was a kid but they discontinued it for a long time but it's back. You can find it certain liquor stores. But there was a rumor going around that Brass Monkey was Old English and orange juice, which is also pretty good
double r is Rick Rubin! the very impressive part of hid genius is this was done on a 4 track recorder, limited resources always make a producer think outside the space!!!
There is a really great live version of this song at Madison Square garden in NYC. I can't begin to tell ya how many cars that beat was blasting out of. 😂
ua-cam.com/video/nMoR1wkxmHo/v-deo.htmlsi=8fPaxXnzJRyTs6mI&t=69 Did a bit of digging and found a video of Rakim talking about being in the song Wonders. He comes in at 1:09 of the three minute video, but the whole thing is worth watching.
Every lowrider mini truck with their 12" subwoofers played the hell out of that song!
It was Slow and Low where I grew up!
Brass Monkey is dark rum, vodka, and orange juice. Was sold in the 80s, and 90s as like a pre-mixed drink, if I remember right! 🤔

When I was stationed in Germany we used to get it at the Class 6 (liquor store ) , drank it at October Fest . Good times 😎😎😎
This album was played at every keg party in the 80's.
I saw Ad Rock on a cooking show and he said that a Brass Monkey is the poor man's Mimosa - Sunny Delight and Old English
😂😂😂😂😂OH,sh÷t! Now I wanna grab an Old English, and reminisce about the ol' days!❤
Gotta try it out
The B-boys are ALWAYS a good time. They always make me feel so good.
I WORE THIS ALBUM OUT!

That beat was textbook Miami Bass Sound. So sweet
best era for hip-hop was clearly 87-94. listen up, you'll see.
Seven of the beastie boys albums went at least platinum. Some of them went double platinum, triple, platinum, and even diamond.
brass monkey was a big drink in the 70s and 80s punk and hip-hop scene.
My guy when you get a chance you should check out Chuck D and LL Cool J inducting the beastie boys into the rock n roll hall of fame.
Wish you'd check out 2 Live Crew, "Welcome to the fuck shop" 👍
🤘❤️beastie boys were a major force
Subscribe for a lot more beastie boys! They are the best selling rap group of all time, by far. They released eight albums between 1986 and 2011.
30 years ago this week, 36 Chambers was released.
4:35 “Double R pays the bills most definitely”. Double R is Rick Rubin. The best B-boys is anything from Paul’s Boutique…imo.
I always thought it was funny that they almost said a curse word at the end of every verse..they do curse in other songs
I think I still have my Bestie Boys cassette tape packed away in a box somewhere. 😂
Ok. I subbed. Beasties are the key.
1982 -95 I'd say was the golden period but I'd say Rakim is by far the best MC to ever spit rhymes.
