I think it's due to wills eye for detail and his drive to do things the right way. He's a crafts person . It's always fun to watch some one practice their craft.
Welcome to the Little Giant family, I have a few recommendations after having some experience with our 100lb LG. First oil it every where before you run it and again every hour chainsaw bar oil is best but you can use any thick oil, the arms should have holes in them where the pins are, and up top on the main shaft there are holes and with a funnel area you fill those up one is covered up by your motor mount, and the ram slide should be oiled top and bottom. Replace the spring asap and performance will again go up. It should have oil all over it and be spinning oil all over the shop thats when you know you have enough.
Didn't know this was a new hammer I thought it was going to be about Will's other mechanical power hammer. When is the one in the corner going to get some TLC?
I wish Alec brought one of these little mechanicals back to the UK they are truly unique and a 20-30 pound mechanical will quickly earn its place in any workshop.
I've really loved these restoration videos. Between this and Will cleaning up those vices a while back, I'm convinced that it would be a great regular addition!
I inherited a Little Giant power hammer from my adopted father in Oklahoma. It was one of the tools in a metal shop for German POW's in WW2 and in rough shape. I took and had it refurb'ed at Uncle Al's machine and knife shop in DeQueen Arkansas. Looks and runs great now! Great video, guys!
Will was positively giddy over his new hammer. Can't say that I blame him, it warms my heart when an old tool gets a new life being productive and useful.
I really enjoy these precise, calculated videos full of calibration and repair of tools. It's when you really explore your abilities as a machinist/blacksmith and is very interesting.
this brought back some of my fondest memories. I used to work in my grandad's blacksmith shop when I was a teenager and I used his old powerhammer, which was exactly like this one. It frightened the life out of me the first time I used it but it became my best friend over a few summers. Thanks guys!
As a mechanical engineer i can say, that most of your motors power goes to waste, because you use a V-belt on a wheel for a flat belt. There is just nor enough friction to transfer your power. Machine yourself a just cylinder too put instead of the v-belt pulley (no crowning needed, the crowned part is on the hammerand you only need one side crowned) and use either a leather flat belt or a new rubber flat belt with reinforced core. If you need more info contact me ;)
I run mine with 2 v belts on a 1 horse motor and it's literally never slipped, they are not even that tight because the clutch the belts ride on has to move. This kind of trip hammer works by momentum, u just have to get it spinning. They were originally ran off jackshafts in the ceiling and flat belts but little giant recommended 2 v belts and a 1 horse motor for a 25 lb machine, they even sell aftermarket motor mount kits.
Would really like you to show the in-depth detailed restorations that you made, this was a nice sum up, but would rather see a longer video on this as well.
Glad you posted this video now. I was watching your Sasquatch Trap video yesterday, and caught a glimpse of this being used... and I'm like, "Wait a sec! I've never seen a Little Giant in Alec's shop before...". Thanks for proving I'm NOT losing my marbles!
Got yourself a diamond there in Will, Mr Steele... make sure you treat him well. In seriousness though, you guys are a good combo and I'm loving seeing Will's work on the channel, super enthusiastic and a great addition to the crew :)
Being brazed, rather than welded, it probably needed all that to give the joint enough integrity to not break again. I'd be wiling to bet the first braze wasn't as big and messy...
Will and Alec are fun to watch. This by far my top choice on the tube. I would by a Will knife if I could find one? Keep up the good work. You guys need your own TV show.
I just wanted to say yall do an amazing job at restoring and creating things, and keeping everyone entertained keep up the good work yall are amazing!!!
Get the serial # off of the right side of the frame and give it to the folks at Little Giant. They have all of the sales records and can tell you when it was first sold and where it originally went.
Hey alec, I've been watching your videos for a couple months now, and I must say your content doesn't disappoint me at all, I can tell you spend so much time on your projects, your so god damn talented, you've actually inspired me to become a blacksmith one day, it seems like a very fun hobby and job
Love videos like this, love this channels videos, seeing you guys(even if Alec wasnt involved this time!) do a restore even if it is short and sweet, is awesome!
My God people...please stop with the comments on how the spring is going to "EXPLODE INTO SHRAPNEL". The spring on my power hammer is over 100yrs old...it still hasn't exploded into shrapnel yet, and I'm pretty sure it will still be fine 100yrs from now.
Hey Alec, I have been getting super into sca fighting with rapier (using loner gear), I would love to see a video where you make another rapier but one that can be used in an sca event, it would be awesome to see
Alec, from another Alec. Not sure how you would do it but, Bethlehem Steel has an old power hammer that is just sitting in their old plant in Bethlehem. It would be amazing if you could somehow get it.
I also have a 25 lb. Little giant. You should put a cage around the spring, because it will eventually fail and the shrapnel can be deadly.
Now that's a tip worth springing into action for.
@@rupertmiller9690 Advice from a cagey veteran.
Rupert Miller he really did hammer his point home
The jokes are getting a bit repetitive.
@@brownwarrior6867 Oh aren't you a lot of fun.
Will should start his own series of restoring old machines... I think it would be very interesting, and it seems like Will loves that sort of thing!
I think it's due to wills eye for detail and his drive to do things the right way. He's a crafts person . It's always fun to watch some one practice their craft.
@@robsorgdrager8477 I completely agree!
Please make that happen! I've rarely seen the fire in his eyes he had when he was onto cleaning that powerhammer.
@@robsorgdrager8477 it's craftsman, crafts person sounds like a Michael's or Hobby Lobby employee
@@not-AI but a woman is not a Craftsman....she is a craftswoman....so craftspeople
Trying to match the number of videos it took me to restore a power hammer? I'm on to you guys.
Did we ever get a tour of your new shop??
Hello, Hand Tool Rescue. Love your work!
@@joshua.snyder 0
I just watched your videos on that this morning! awesome job!
They need to have you over to restore it!

The lonely hammer in the corner. 😢
Me too. Come on gents you definitely need 3 power hammers in the shop.
Follow him (will) and fireball tool on ig they are restoring it currently
Two of my favourite types of video in one: forging and restoration. Fantastic and a beautiful little hammer :)
I wish Alec brought one of these little mechanicals back to the UK they are truly unique and a 20-30 pound mechanical will quickly earn its place in any workshop.
*Awesome restoration gents!* 🔨 💥💥😎
Love seeing something old and broken, come back to life! Very cool!

Old tools have a timeless beauty to them - no planned obsolescence! Thanks for restoring this one :)
I love watching old machine restorations like this, and Will seems to love restoring the pieces too.

Beautiful work Will Stelter I’m happy to see you happy 😁

Ooooh, a random Wasted appeared. Didn't expect to see you here!
After you cleaned it up, you could really see how nasty those old repairs were. It looked like melted candle wax.
Being brazed, rather than welded, it probably needed all that to give the joint enough integrity to not break again. I'd be wiling to bet the first braze wasn't as big and messy...
One of the great things about this channel is the variety of videos and the ever changing format, you guys have really stepped up your game for real!
Good score Will. That thing will still be going in 100 years.
200 hopefully
I love watching restoring old machines even better that it's a power hammer. Great content as usual Alec and Will.
Will and Alec are fun to watch. This by far my top choice on the tube. I would by a Will knife if I could find one? Keep up the good work. You guys need your own TV show.
My favourite part of Will being in these videos is watching what he has in his hands while talking.
Very nice restore and a cool new tool for working that steel!
Love the clean up/restoration style videos
Hells yeah. Thanks for sharing. What an awesome addition to the shop. This video makes me want to restore an old wood lathe for myself.
Will always has a cup of coffee or food in his hands when he is talking. It's his trademark!
Very cool! Well done on the trouble shooting and restoration
I love that Will always have a sandwich or a coffee mug or similar in his hands when you are filming.
Crazy, love heavy tools. Glad to see you all add another prize to your collection.
One thing that fascinates me is that a tool is old and that it is of good quality. Congratulations brothers
Could not wipe that smile off Will's face. Nice energy guys, love the new hammer
Nice... Such a cute little beastie. I just wish there was more video of the actual restoration process. Nice job guys and have a beautiful day.
It's a good day when I get a Alec Steele video in notifications
I just wanted to say yall do an amazing job at restoring and creating things, and keeping everyone entertained keep up the good work yall are amazing!!!
5:35 Alec looks like he is getting ready for a backpacking trip. Probably why he needed the titanium stake anvil.
I saw y'all using that for the Sasquatch trap and was thinking to myself, "Is that a new power hammer?"
Same lol
Yeep
A my mechanics colab would have this thing shining like new money.
I was wondering how you maintain the integrity/honing of your tools and equipment, would love to see a video on that as well.
i was wondering about that, i'm dying for a maintenance video
A joy to see this restoration what nice a Hammer!
I love that Will is talking about his new power hammer as it's running while holding a sandwich.
Aww, it's so cute and tiny next to its big brother.
Get the serial # off of the right side of the frame and give it to the folks at Little Giant. They have all of the sales records and can tell you when it was first sold and where it originally went.
Awesome little hammer! When Does Will's old hammer get some love? You guys will be ready for classes soon at this rate!
You guys should bring back the guy you bought it from to show him how much care went into it and how useful it will be :D
You guys should do more restorations!
Very Cool restoration of a 25LBS. Powerhammer Will.

Nice find and project fellas!
I love how all these machines are pretty ancient but it really doesn’t matter they still get used plenty!
"Like a kid in a candy store". Will was suuuuper happy.

I would love one of those power hammers for my shop. Great job, keep up the good work
Always happy for a new video never been this early b4 😍😍😍😍
Well done! Good deal on the new hammer!
Will is getting so much better at talking to a cam. Nice
Love it but I think there’s a metal guard that goes in front of the spring to stop it from killing u if it flys out
Will has gotten alooooot heavier. Thats a healthy looking man right there!
What a great buy. Good job will!
Great tool. Nice job guys!👍👍
Very exciting Will. I’ve had my 50# a few months and love it it’s a game changer. Congrats
it’s so cute......good luck with it. Nice job on the restore so far.
Love the vid and cant wait to see the power with the new motor
Congrats Will. That thing is awesome
I love that Will likes to talk to the camera with food or drink in his hand. I can relate lol.
That’s awesome! Great find!!
I honestly like the look of the braising
Woo! Made in Mankato, Minnesota... If you get tired of it, you could bring it back to Mankato and park it in my garage...
What a beautiful piece of machinerie!
Looks great guys! Looking forward to what it can do, when fully restored and as all ways have a great day guys and see you next time:D
You guys really need to go to one of the big Maker Faires. You would be swamped with fans! You are really missing out.
Looks like it was originally a flatbelt and lineshaft machine, really cool!
Great editing and presentation...you guys are good bravo
wish i had all the fun stuff you guys get to work with, but you know what they say, "the tool doesn't make the man, the man makes the tool"
Nice gratz Will! Nice find..
What about that partial power hammer that's always in the background?
I guess that question is answered now
We don’t talk about that it was very sad
Awesome video! Love those little Giants! I will own one Someday!!
Looks to have been line shaft driven originally. Nice addition to the shop.
Awesome!!..I just built myself a mini 25# hammer and I’m amazed on how well they do move steel
Will! finish your sandwich. Thanks Will, great job.
That powerhammer is adorable.
No footage yet of the cavalry sabre being collected
Alecs content is so good because of its diversity, from restorations that to forging, to making a Sasquatch trap, yep.
My God people...please stop with the comments on how the spring is going to "EXPLODE INTO SHRAPNEL". The spring on my power hammer is over 100yrs old...it still hasn't exploded into shrapnel yet, and I'm pretty sure it will still be fine 100yrs from now.
Gotta admit, I'm a little jealous. They had those at the first plant I worked at.
Sandwich in hand for the ending. Suitable replacement for coffee.
It was a coffee sandwich. Will is legally required to always be consuming caffeine.
Worth the watch if only to hear Will say, “gusto!” 🤓
Thought will wasnt working for your forge. Glad to see him back
What a wonderful little machine. I would love to one day be able to afford a power hammer.
Look pretty cool, nice little machine
Very nice. I’ve been waiting on this video. I spotted it a few episodes back and wanted to know more about it
Nate from Nates Forge did this with Alec's old Pilkington. Quite a good watch if anyone wants to see how old Mr Pilkington is getting on!
Gotta love a Little Giant
