Good review! I personally LOVE this game! I bought two copies of this game, not only for the miniatures, but especially the tiles. I love going "off road" and creating my own game board options, creating my own missions, and even bringing in different miniatures from other games to have fun... try this game with Operation Tannhauser figures, creating a big board that can hold the capacity of 30 miniatures within the map board??? Let's face it, it's Fantasy Flight and we know everything they do is first drawer. You are right about the length of time... but that only makes game play a lot more realistic... keep up the good work
An honor system, really. My group and I have held to it and it works pretty well. There's a custom Anya character who's special ability turns that on it's head but the risk/reward doesn't ruin the overall experience.
@NaturalTwentyFilms: I think that trying it before buying it is a great idea. I personally enjoy it a lot [I have a scenario set up for solo play on my desk right now!] but for the reasons I explained in the video it may not be everyone's cup of tea.
I felt completely opposite about the variety. Your point about the encounter cards is well taken, but I feel that in "Wrath of Ashardalon" (haven't played Ravenloft), there were different scenarios, but the mostly feel the same. In Gears of War, the different scenarios feel entirely different and that, to me is why Gears of War has more variety. Not to knock "Wrath of Ashardalon" because I like that game.
@metal134: point well taken, and perfectly compatible with mine since I was mainly talking about the sense of variety WITHIN a game session (from beginning to end), rather than from scenario to scenario. When it comes to the feel of the individual scenarios I agree with you 100%.
@NaturalTwentyFilms It's a little of a mixed bag as far as what you're talking about. Some of the shorter scenarios can probably be played in under an hour, but someof the longer scenarios can easily go as long as a game of Arkham Horror.
Guys, are board game geeks really that weak-minded? I've read numerous times that people are concerned how co-operative games can result in one person taking over the decision making. It has been referred to as "alpha" something-or-other. Seriously? Some people need to grow a set of balls. If it's your turn and one of the players keeps taking over the decisions, just tell them to relax, that it's a team effort but it's your turn and you'll take it as you see fit. If they don't like it, tell them to fuck off. They're not your boss and you're not at work. Being able to work in a group, as a team, is a basic life skill. Yes, everyone at some point or another has been involved in a group task where there are no designated leaders and someone tries to forcefully adopt the position. That's life. Tell them to relax and let people make their own decisions, after listening to the opinions of the group. If you can't handle sticking up for yourself in a board game, then you need to harden up.

There are parts I like and parts I dislike about it. I'd probably have to play it to completely make up my mind.

Another excellent review and overview of the game, Marco. Thanks!

Sotirios Novatsis ... No doubt man... Well said.
I think I read that this is just a reboot of the Doom board game.
@NaturalTwentyFilms I'll be getting the Napoleon game based on his review. I don't currently own too many solitaire games.
@Tapewormz No way. DOOM is a completetly different. Gears of war is fully coop!
