Yay for wanting to teach! I'm currently in a grad program to get my teaching license, so listen when I say I FEEL YOU! I want to change and inspire as a teacher/educator. It sounds like it is something that you truly are yearning for, so I'd definitely recommend testing it out. There is always a need for substitute teachers and I would recommend doing that as I did that last year and even now before I finish my program in May. It really helps give you a taste of teaching, plus you get to go to different schools in your district and find out where you like/what age you like best. I assume you'd be taking a PRAXIS test for whatever subject, if so I recommend their practice tests and 240tutoring! But ahh even if you don't teach you sound so excited for what's next and I'm so happy for you!
I’ve heard subbing is def good to start with esp for getting an idea of schools which is such a good tip (esp in a big city lol). Thank you for the tips and encouragement/support 🥰
Stardew valley has become one of my favs! Definitely has helped me be able to enjoy being in a moment w myself and enjoying a sense of relaxation !

Hey Abby! That's the program I used when I got my certification. It was great, I recommend it a lot. Although I'm no longer teaching, it was very helpful because you can work at your own pace with that program. Good luck, you can do it! We have a bunch of similar dreams for the future!

Def play Stardew valley! It’s 2 player as well :) me and my partner have a farm together and it’s super fun and cute!
Just popping in to say that there is an app for the 5LLs that you can sync with your partner and you can set what your love tank is at and write little notes to each other etc. If you like the whole premise of LLs and want to use them more it's a really great tool

I don’t think it’s a big deal - I am pretty sure it’s some paperwork & then if you want your license reprinted (not sure if they make you or not) I’m sure you have to pay for that! Thank you and best wishes with the exams! 🩷

Hmmm, I’m sorry but you’re off when it comes to the teaching thing. I don’t think you understand that all of us teachers have also always wanted to be the change. Teachers (myself included) that have dreamt of changing lives and working our dream job. I would never try to persuade you to not teach but you will NEVER understand why we feel the way we do unless you experience it yourself. The reason so many of us have left is because the education system has legitimately affected our lives in an extremely negative way. We wanted to be the change too. I could go on and on about specifics but I’ll be honest, as a former teacher that devoted her entire life to teaching (worked every night, worked every weekend, spent so much of my own money, etc), your comment didn’t sit right with me. I would encourage you to substitute teach first to get a tiny feel for things (though teaching is 10x harder/more work than subbing). It could give you a little insight.
Ahh I was only speaking on behalf of myself when I said I wanted to be part of the change - I wouldn’t make an assumption or speak on behalf of teachers (esp when I’m not one) & say/assume they don’t want to be a part of it (whether they leave the field or not) bc I know that’s not true & that’s why I didn’t say anything about other teachers - just speaking to my own desire/passion. my mom has been a teacher her whole life so I hear it from her all the time. I know there are so many systemic issues within teaching that make it so much harder for teachers to do their jobs & im not wanting/trying to invalidate any of those feelings. I was just saying i, personally, not speaking for anyone else, want to try to be a part of the change as a way to articulate the intensity of the passion I’ve felt for teaching since I was little. for ex, a lot of professions (like accounting lol) are often talked ab in a negative light (similar to teaching). Some people (the general population, not just people in the specific profession) may hear those negative things & immediately write off trying that profession, whereas others may hear the negative things & think oh, I feel passionate about this & would like to give it a shot even though I’ve heard negative things. hopefully that makes more sense - I’m so sorry if it wasn’t said well or if it was offensive. I was just trying to express my interest by saying the discouragement I’ve heard doesn’t keep me from wanting to try it at this point in my life! I’m considering maybe trying out subbing too though. I know being a teacher is not easy & teachers truly don’t get enough credit & I think they’re all superheroes! & it breaks my heart that all of the issues within the system/profession drive people who love it away from it. It’s really the only thing I’ve known I wanted to do since I was a kid & I probably could’ve worded what I said better
