Their Cham language has a very strong Vietnamese accent with it too, so probably not true Cham annunciation. Also many Cham in Vietnam still practice Hinduism and Buddhism like their ancient ancestors before they converted to Islam. The Cham in Cambodia are very friendly and peaceful people and lived alongside Khmers for centuries after they migrated from Champa when it fell. I believe the majority in Cambodia came from Panduranga.

Muslims have for almost 800 years ruled indian subcontinent and in case southeast asia people became muslims throught trade but still you will find people of other religion living there. On the other hand,there is no indigestion religion left in europe. The America is also totally christianized except a handful of native american tribes in south america who lived in far too inaccessible land for european settlers to invade. Muslims christians jews hindus all lived under islamic rule. Can you imagine muslims living in medieval christian land?
Between the Muslim Cham of Vietnam and the Muslim Cham of Cambodia, their languages are the same even Rhade, jarai, Raglai and Churu living in the Central Highlands of Vietnam have a common language with the Cham and they are also one race.
