    A jar of Vegemite usually lasts several months because you only put a slight thin spread on toast. The great thing about Canberra is there is so much to do like galleries, libraries, museums and they are mostly free. One place to definitely visit is the Australian War Memorial. It is a fantastic museum, along with the reverance they pay to service men and women, a place that honours their service and sacrifice.

    As an Australian I eat Vegemite toast, it’s definitely an acquired taste. But I would never eat it like that. That is just way too much Vegemite. You need to spread a nice layer of butter on the toast and a very very thin layer of Vegemite.

    Welcome to Australia 😊 Yes, most ppl are friendly and will help you adjust to life here. All you have to do is ask. As for Vegemite, the key rule is: lots of butter/margarine and a SMALL amount of Vegemite 😅 Canberra is really cold in winter, as you're probably finding out now! Def need thick coats, scarves and gloves. Summers are hot and dry. I lived there in the 90s. It can feel a bit restrictive at times. Hope you can see more of Australia while you're here. It's pretty huge 😅

    as a kid of parents that also were relocated abroad for work, please enjoy it to the max!! I was older than your son, we lived abroad from when I was 3 until 6 but I still have so many incredible memories 🩷 moving is really hard as a young child (my sister and I were definitely not happy when it was time to move back lol) but my family and I always look back at that time with so much happiness and nostalgia 🩷 I'm so excited for your new life chapter!

      @@morganunraveled absolutely!! we moved from Venezuela to England. I don't think they ever expected to have the chance to go to England to begin with, so they took all the pictures and took us to as many historical landmarks as they could. It definitely was a life forming experience for all of us regardless, and I'm sure Australia will be the same for you! 😍

I can only imagine all of the wonderful sights you'll see 🤩
      also, when you were talking about seeing kangaroos crossing the street, I wonder if it'd feel to Australians like seeing a deer? haha! Might be interesting too to find out if BirdNET or eBird can help you identify the birds that are around you

    Lol oh lord. As a texan now living in Melbourne, (i was calling it mel-born" not mel-ben. it's "Can-bra", once you get the pronunciation, you'll be on your way to turning into an aussie. Trust me lol, they'll get offended if you say it wrong 😂.
    Also, just use google or an app for the metric system until you get used to it.
    Then you should have simply asked or googled how to eat vegemite lol, heaps of butter and then only a tiny bit of vegemit over the melted butter on the toast.
    To all the aussies watching this video, i'm so sorry! 😂

    • @morganunraveled
      @morganunraveled  10 днів тому

      well at least we’re in this together :) no one has been offended yet, even when I do correct myself, but I’ve been trying to catch myself and say it correctly! funnily enough, a lot of the cities in Virginia where I moved from, which were named after English towns, Norfolk, Suffolk, etc were often ‘mispronounced’ even by locals! 😂 I feel like this is a problem no matter where you are in the world but I’m working on learning the correct pronunciations!

    Welcome to Australia! I watched your full video - you have a lovely delivery and I think your personality really shines through. Others have already set you straight re Vegemite - lots of butter and just smear us what you want. Other tips - Canberra gets really cold, so be ready for that. And when you get a chance head down to the coast - Batemans Bay and further south. It’s beautiful. Hope you have a wonderful adventure while you are here.

    Depending what part of Canberra you’re in you shouldn’t have to wait too long to see a kangaroo.
    Enjoy the autumn colours and know that Canberra gets a lot colder than most capital cities in Australia and the houses aren’t well designed for it.
    For your little one there are so many parks and playgrounds in Canberra in every suburb.
    Congrats on making the move and welcome to Oz
