They recorded their Christmas album Evergreen in just two weeks this past summer. They let a camera (Kirstins bf Ben is their videographer) come into the recording. It's really worth a watch. The reason I'm mentioning it is bc they all 5 we're listening to the final mix of this and the hand motion you did when Mitch sang child, Scott did the same one and Matt said "that's the song right there, that's the song."
What’s funny is you are exactly right that even if they didn’t win the song off show they would still be where they are today since they were dropped by Sony right after winning and moved to L.A. So they used YT to get their music out and the rest is history. Having said that, their cash winnings helped pay for their humble beginnings and maybe they wouldn’t have moved to L.A. but I think they would have at minimum moved closer together SOMEWHERE and still be where they are today. There is an interesting story of how josh groban, before anyone knew about josh groban, Was involved with the prayer Being sung by celine an Andrea.
While A Capella might not be as popular as Pop, R&B and Hip Hop, It's one of the highest points of Music, if anything I would call A Capella, advanced music, same with Classical music such as Opera, one thing is that A Capella is not an easy thing to do, because it would be incredibly difficult by yourself, and even if you aren't by yourself, you need to have coordination and the ability to blend with your fellow group members perfectly, if one of the members mess up, they all can easily mess up, it's just like the body, which can't function as it is intended to without limbs and those limbs cannot function without a brain, you need all of them to be able to coordinate your movements properly.

5 students from a high school in Arlington, Texas making beautiful music and history.
3 students...the other 2 came later.....but they are all 5 magnificent together.
