Today we put 1940s tanks and planes against Modern tanks and planes while outnumbered to see how well they can do against each other in War Thunder. How well can 1940s tech do against modern tech? You might be surprised but let's find out.

@@bonehead6942 doubt it tbh, the Pantsir S1 would carry and can keep the skies clear for the modern ground, the 1940s air won't be super useful but the MBTs will be able to make up for that defecit.

Light tanks are the biggest threat to the modern tanks, a lot of my buddies are top tier tanks and I’m still in 7.0, when I play with them, I use the M18. (6.0 BR, 76MM APHECBC with 180MM of penetration, top speed of 50MPH) I was able to drop a nuke in 11.7 BR in realistic battles just by flanking to the sides and shooting the modern main battle tanks that are double my BR in their side armor. In top tier, armor is second, speed is first, so if you use their logic against them with faster tanks, you should be able to kill a few just by catching them of guard with your speed.
this and goblin mode HE overpressure like the Sturmpanzer works well against modern vehicles
i think any kind of artillery is op against modern.
Truly the most chaotic. WW2 vehicles and aircraft always bring in alot of chaos.

The first game was borderline impossible to play as an AA, we couldn't see the jets at all, so we got absolutely bombed to hell ; the next ones were better, but there was so many, going so fast that it was very difficult to predict their path and from where they would appear, which forced a more passive gameplay.

Just remember that a majority of the outcome is highly dependent on the skill of the players. And not the vehicle they brought
Less true in this matchup. Consider someone who only brings light tanks, recon vehicles, and jets on the modern side vs someone who just uses MBTs. Assuming they are MBTs like leopard 2, Abrams, Challenger 2, or T80-U, they would be almost unkillable from the front for the WW2 players, while the player in light tanks and recon vehicles could be blown out like candles. Toss in that even with the best jet player possible, they only have so many bombs before they need to land and rearm and the rest of the team still has to deal with many tanks per person. A ratio that's increased with each player using a jet, so if the mode is multiple objective based, the modern players simply get spread too thin. And when you have a thinly spread team with a couple of people in lightly armored vehicles and a couple more in jets, suddenly the heavier tanks have to kill almost 8 for each of them.
Remember, there's plenty of scenes of a heavily armored MBT holding the line against multiple tanks and getting many kills, and almost none of a light vehicle doing the same.

It could just be me but I am pretty sure modern Russian T-80 and T-90 turret armor is impenetrable especially with old tank guns.

I wonder why modern MBT utilize ESS more, since they have thermal they could've just looked through the smoke making it significantly more difficult for ww2 tanks to get them. During the night match who ever had the Panther 2 would have had such a bigger advantage then the rest of the WW2 tanks since it comes with night vision, even though its not very good it's still a lot better then not having it. In the match at Factory the WW2 side would've had a bigger gap in victory if they all didn't just charge to A point but spread out the forces more between points, around the last bit of the match I'm sure they realized this. It's kind of ironic to be talking about kicking people who don't use WW2 tanks when there was a literal G6 a 1980s artillery piece rolling around while you were staying that and there were more instances of non ww2 tanks like the concept 3 that killed you which is also another vehicle from the 80s.
This whole video was so dramatic and cinematic, I love these types of war thunder videos. I also believe that the modern tanks had the upper hand in more ways than intended, with them having access to nightvision while the ww2 team didnt

Congrats. You cheated. Concept 3 was a project between 1976 and 1979. Was not around in the 1940s. still surprised at how many people cheated and got away with it.

Why did everyone bring heavily armored vehicles? Its not standing up to modern MBT rounds, only the tutel or maus could, imo they should have gone with lightly armored vehicles with good guns, maybe a few SPGs for flavor, but mostly things like the breda 501
we need a redo because now America gets access to m908 which is essentially a sap round
a fucking sap round with 300mm of penetration which will essentially one shot every single ww2 tank
i'd be curious to see if arcade significantly changes the performance. the top tier stuff does not care where it shoots and has things like NVD/thermals to try to find stuff. once you add hit markers and lead indicators, i think spaaing becomes easier and the lower tiered things now know what to try to shoot at and what to avoid.

Patience is required in a match like this. So what I would do is turn off my tanks engine after finding a spot and waiting for the modern tanks to come to me.
Need full arty vs modern tank, (type 99, AUF1, G6, sthurmtiger, etc etc)
if The T30 got to fight and was ironed out and made good it would decimate a tank with just its HE let alone the AP AP would take the front plate wiht it
M22's, the old Puma's and biplanes sneak attacking the shlt out of the mbt's would have done it

Ww2 air players have a challenge: try to survive 10s after air spawn, those jets hunt the 1940 air down so fast, i couldn’t even get out of the spawn area
I really can't tell if your going from enemy to friendly or what is going on. are you switching to other friendly deaths or enemy? And then there is no indication of what tank your showing atm. Hard to tell who is who. I think it was a great idea, but for someone who don't play this game much, I was really lost.
If it helps with dealing with the confusion for this video, you can tell which side he switches to by looking at the minimap. Ww2 team is on the north side and modern team is on the south. But I do agree with the constant switching inbetween makes it a bit harder to follow especially with it being pitch black
