Sometimes I think Broadway performers are adrenaline junkies. Really, the choreography sometimes out of this world, and all we can do is just watch them in awe.

It's crazy. The first one was basically PE but with a beat.

I've seen a lot of stage musicals over the years, even working front-of-house in London's West End in my youth, and the most exhilarating dance number I can recall was 'We're in the Money' in a Melbourne production of 42nd Street. That number alone got a standing ovation from the audience.

I was privileged to see a few of these on B’way. So glad these amazing moments can be shared more widely!

Love these numbers. Grew up watching the song and dance movies of the 30's and 40's. Shout out to the women who dance like this wearing heels!

Others: Memphis - "Underground" or "Radio". Legally Blond - "Whipped Into Shape". Some Like It Hot - "Some Like It Hot". Great Performances doesn't have access to these shows. Too bad.

I'm mot sure how PBS came up with this collection of "Broadway's Best but "42nd Street" and "Anything Goes" are the only front runners of the American classic. There are actual breath-taking choreographies out there and not just showstoppers. I feel there's a big difference in strong developed choreographies to hyped applause staging effects. Maybe it's to show more unseen performances but there are so many wonderful underrepresented musicals that deliver a more fine-tuned and complex, physical dialogue than what's listed. Never the less they are are all still wonderful performances. I had the wonderful pleasure of performing the last two shows. Thanks PBS

After I watched this video I had to visit 42nd Street's We're in the Money and the finale. It's just 👌.

It’s so hard not to be happy when you recognize a song that you heard on Fallout (anything goes)

Not all of the clips are from Broadway. The last one was from the filmed version of the 2021 Barbican theatre's production of Anything Goes in London.

That jump rope number is interesting. Did this musical come before or after “Legally Blonde”? Because I wonder which musical inspired which for jump rope choreography.

They probably can’t post the footage due to Disney Copyright

Since it's Disney, not Great Performances. Otherwise, yes, it should've been there.

Have you seen the version performed at the Tonys from 13 years ago? Not sure how true it is to what was performed during the actual Broadway show, but it’s pretty good.

@@bridgetn2575 It was abridged, of course, but yes, I've played it over and over. There's a pirated version, I think it's still our there, but it's shaky and often blurry. Fortunately, I got to see it on Broadway which is why I wish there was a recording of it.

@@AW-hx6ne No, that was the West End production; very good but not as good. The sailors were excellent but they reminded you of young chorus boys, not sailors. The sailors on Broadway LOOKED like actual sailors and were excellent dancers, as well. The female chorus was was good but lacked the pizzaz of the Broadway girls. Broadway's Moon Face, was played by the obviously-aging Joel Grey but I'm not a fan of Robert Lindsay (West End) who I liked in "Me and My Girl" but find difficult to like. since. His performances seem too ... actor's ego, to me.

What about Contact, The Musical, the amazing dance piece by choreographer Susan Stroman?
