I rarely post comments on UA-cam, but your videos were a huge inspiration for me to start learning Riichi Mahjong, I'm always excited to see a new video coming out from you, coupled with two friends being pretty skilled at it (& them playing IRL too) who give me lots of additional advice after I set my sights into learning it. The critical thinking behind it, the thoughts and analysis you have to bring to the table, the experience you gain with every match and the general learning process throughout it all have been a lot of fun!

Really interesting view to talk about Zentsu as a defensive play in specific situations, but you're right. "Defense" is more about "denying other players victory" than necessarily "avoiding dealing in" despite those *usually* leading to the same play.

As a new player who tried to watch your Suji and EV video, I appreciate the small Translation Guide you put in this video 😀

I recently get out of tenpai after getting suspicious tile and that tile was exactly what my opponent waited for (another player dealt in later). Feels like a win.

Got to gold room a while back and just started playing again. Like I’m starting all over. I always feel like I’m doing so well until I get hit with 12000 hand. Ded. Thanks for your videos!

If you haven't already, learn defense sooner rather than later! It's a critical component people don't put enough emphasis on early, especially for online play.

you mentioned that you would discard the most dangerous safe tile between 5 9 and chun and say that you'd want to get rid of the 5 first. But as you said earlier, waits on middle tiles are less likely, so wouldn't 9 be the most dangerous safe tile first? @ 3:17

It's the most dangerous tile in terms of the other two players who you suspect are not in tenpai, not the most dangerous tile vs the tenpai player. So like if there's a riichi out and a 5 is safe in their discards, you would throw it over other tiles if it's early because other people could incorporate that wait in their hand on purpose to capitalize on players dealing only the safe tiles of the riichi player, and because it's easier to have a hand that ends up waiting on a middle tile than one that ends up on a terminal or honor because there are more ways to use the middle tiles to form sets than those types of tiles, so changing your hand to wait on a 5 is generally much easier than switching up your hand to wait on a terminal/honor. The wait on the middle tile is less likely if the suji are out to make it less likely, but that's not necessarily going to also be true for the other two players.
