We bought this exact same unit, went camping before the cool weather, had the gas and water set to high, temp set to winter and found it just wasn't heating the 6lpm to anywhere near stated, temp of the water coming from my camper trailer was 22.3 deg, l.e.d on the heater showed 41.6 degrees. Turn the pressure down and it was warmer, but not really enough to wash shampoo out of your hair,
I love having my unit but now I'm out of warranty, I think ill be playing with a few things inside to get a decent shower.

Hi Rctrail@ction, I'm not sure there would be a warranty problem here, it's probably just the limitations of a portable unit like this at a higher water flow.
The unit is capable of raising the temperature of water 42°C above ambient but this is on winter mode with maximum gas and minimum water flow, so in my opinion the temperatures you are stating aren't outside of what could be expected.
You could call Smarttek on 1300 119 906, they will soon be able to let you know if there is an issue, and what you can do to fix it.

Right next to the water inlet at the 2:55 is a brass knurled knob. I have looked at the instructions manual and it seems to indicate that it is the water drainage valve in the narrative but water outlet valve in the diagram. You completely ignored it in this otherwise excellent video. Thank you for uploading this content.

Good review chief,, Do you think a 12v - 17 lpm - 4.5 gpm 40psi water pump would be ok to use for this HWS ?

G'day Volcanic, that's a good question. Both the 4.3Lpm and the 6L Smarttek Black Smart Hot Water System pumps allow you to pump water from a river or dam. I suggest checking directly with Smarttek regarding the use of another pump with this system - www.smarttek.com.au/
      I hope this helps!

    Hey guys.
Just wondering when you will be doing the coffee percolator 5 video?
    Thanks 😊

Hi Jake, apologies for the delay, we are getting quite a backlog of requests for videos. We'll do our best to squeeze it in somewhere as soon as we can. ~ Ben

Fantastic video & product, looks to make those onboard awkward 4wd touring setups obselete, this is far more suited for real base camping but quick enough still to setup for true overlanding. It can also pump from a tank on your 4wd or just a few 20L jerries.
Can you give some ideas on how one could incorporate this with a basic kicthen to also run a kicthen sink tape for dishes? So the switchover would be quick & simply.

Thanks for the kind words, Wex, it's certainly a versatile unit.
If you want to set the unit up to easily switch between using it for a shower and hot water for your camp kitchen then you can use one of these to easily direct water wherever you need it - www.snowys.com.au/dual-shower-hose-t-piece. ~ Ben

How much water does it generally use for a shower?

    • @SnowysOutdoors
      @SnowysOutdoors  5 років тому

Depends on how long you shower for, or how big the supply of water is that you are drawing from. It produces up to 6 litres of water per minute depending on the pump you are using, so at its maximum flow rate a 5 minute shower would use about 30 litres of water. ~ Ben
