    Fantastic build! Thanks for that great idea with the plummingpipe for connecting the tailboom. Never thought of that! The handtoss showed how great build this is! I'm thinking that you maybe have built it a bit to "jucey" and perhaps you could have made it lighter with a smaller motor and battery. It's gliding perfect as is and on a glider, the motor is just for getting up to where the lift starts. Who cares if it takes 1 minute or 5 :-) Keep it up, Andrew! And enjoy the summer :-)

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  7 років тому +1

      I would have to make the tail lighter or shorter if the motor and battery were smaller, or lengthen the nose.

    Nicely done Andrew, that's a beauty. You could do with a wider yolk for your folding prop so it folds back fully and a bigger spinner, but other than that you seem to have got it spot on first go. I thought the tail looked a bit small for the wingspan but it looks like I was wrong - there's nothing wrong with that :-)

    Should the bottom of the wing be flat? I have a high lifting wing and building a new fuesolodge withers the wing running throught the fuesolodge not rubber band on top

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  3 роки тому

      With a flat bottomed airfoil you usually need to lift the trailing edge up a few degrees

  • @rcbuildmaster6192

      That's probably too heavy, unless the wings are stiffer than mine. 2 bolts through plywood plate hold the wing to the fuselage

    I would love to see you try micro planes... slope soaring with a 60 cm wing-spam glider.

    • @AndrewNewton

      6mm ply for the firewall. I'm not so good with smaller planes, more accuracy needed.

      @laurentpastorelli1354 7 років тому

      thanks. I will try to rebuild a plane with your technique, it seems pretty fast and efficient.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  7 років тому

      Filming and editing is part of the build process for me, I do little bits all the time. I film pretty much everything and edit as quickly as possible. No idea how many hours it adds up to sorry.

    • @laurentpastorelli1354
      @laurentpastorelli1354 7 років тому +1

      I was just asking, don't feel sorry. I am interested into the process of Vloging, your posting frequency is quite high and the content is qualitative and consistent too. You are a good story teller, I follow you since your dlg video, it helped me a lot to understand how to fly them. (I just realised you posted 449 videos... damn I watched you as much as I watch game of thrones) and I am kind of hooked on it since then.
      thanks a lot for the break you give me during the work, I envy your soaring hills, I wish I could fly like that.
      I do play them time to time to relax a bit.....

    Is the balsa wood rod is good for spar of the 3m deprron wing ?

    • @AndrewNewton

      Not strong enough for 3m, you would need fibreglass, or carbon fibre, or edge-on plywood for enough strength

  • @wordreet

    Great stuff, though personally I make minimum use of balsa and my local model shop has closed down. So I probably won't be buying any more. How much longer was the new fuselage? About 10cm is my guess.

    Are mg90 servo reliable for these type of gliders

      Yes they are quite OK I have found.

    Hello. How do you determine the angle of incidence?

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  3 роки тому

      Trial and error mainly. If it's pitching up while gliding then try lifting the trailing edge a little.

    Can I use 2 3mm balsa for mounting the wing

    Then 2636 motor is ok for this ?

    • @AndrewNewton

      Depends which motor manufacturer. Some measure the stator or windings, and some measure the outside can. 2212 can be the same as 2826.
