  • A really disappointing episode. Tons of ridiculous plotting. Rick and Michonne almost seem self-aware of their own plot armor at this point. They get out of every pickle without a scratch. Every challenge they come across is barely an inconvenience. Just lame all around.

    I love the walking dead and I do like this show but this episode didn’t sit well with me, I thought I was the only one. So many years away from each other and yet they barely ask about what each other been doing all this time. No How’s back home? What have you been doing in the CRM? No mention of Negan or Maggie or anyone and the survivors that have survived up to this point are dumb as bricks

    I noticed early in the episode while they were in the truck that when Rick appeared to finish off a green can of soda he doesn't toss it out the window, yet apparently they later turned serial litter-bugs with the noodle wrappers?

      I'm glad you brought that up. I remember thinking to myself i wonder what Rick was going to do with that trash, and whether he'd chuck it out the window or not seeing how it's the end of the world as we know it and everything, but yet he didn't. Now we're supposed to believe that Rickchonne are leaving a trail of breadcrumbs like a post apocalyptic Hansel and Gretel for scavengers and deviants alike to find. It's things like that that are so frustrating with this show.

    None of these new TWD shows even feel remotely like the original TWD. The whole atmosphere and characters feel drastically different and just cheesy and forced. They have turned Rick into a sideline character in favor of strong brave powerful woman Michonne. Its just unrealistic and alot of forced D-E-I nonsense.

    It definitely was hilarious how right before Jadis gets bit the zombies come up on her from behind and even though Rick and Michonne are trying to keep her alive and should see them coming due to the angle they are standing at they act like they don’t see them until they come within frame of the camera lmao which is when Michonne starts shooting but it’s too late of course. The zombies were never in existence until til they stepped within frame lmao.

      @@ErikKain It's not bizarre at all. Rick and Michonne are literally my two favorite characters in TWDU. If either of them were killed, I'd be done with the franchise. I'm not interested in watching a Game of Thrones type of show (or, if I were to watch something like that, I wouldn't allow myself to become attached to any one character). I've watched TWD/TOWL to follow the stories of specific characters. The show is not enjoyable without them, which is why I was pretty much done with TWD when Andy left (and the only remaining episodes I cared to watch religiously included Danai).

    They should have made the reunion at s11 at the latest, they couldve wrapped it all up with a bow right there with the whole group together... Feels like all of this has been a long commercialized using of us, just to give us that moment, so many years late. Im sure people on youtube will at least make edits using some of this that are actually good..
    Great videos man thank you! 💜

    PS I’m assuming Gabriel and Jadis put reminders in their Google Calendars so they both know the exact day once a year to meet up? 😂🤣 Either that or they are both making meticulously accurate Apocalypse Calendars to track the days - hope they coordinated on not forgetting the leap years 😂🤣

    • @caseyhart4999
      @caseyhart4999 5 місяців тому

      I suppose if they really were looking forward to that day all year like they said they could keep a manual count in their head. Like each day when they wake up they say to themselves it’s been 20 days since the meeting. 345 to go. Even that would strain believability though because they both have so much else going on within a given year surely one of them would lose count at some point.

    I'm just not feeling it. First - It is so hard for me to buy into the idea of a mother leaving her adolescent children behind to go on a quest to find her man who may not be alive. What mother does that? I understand being hopeful, but to neglect your children during their most formative years, in an apocalyptic world, and in the hands of someone else for 7 years?!!!! Hell Naw! I don't think so...totally unrealistic. As for this episode, listening to the exhaustive exchange between Rick and Michonne fussing with each other for 2/3 of this episode was unbearable. Also annoying was watching Michonne's over-acting, particularly the romantic scenes; it's almost like watching two different people; leaves you to question just WHO did Rick fall in love with? Rick tries real hard to get into the scene, almost TOO hard and I don't see the chemistry. The writers spent too much time on showing how much they love eachother. This love connection between these two just doesn't work for me. She was/is awesome as a Bad-Ass sword-slinging-walker-killer, but this romantic portrayal of her comes off... 'pretense'. The start of the Rick-Michonne love connection started off awkward in "The Walking Dead" in the first place; it was in your face, BLAM, no build up, not even seeing how they could have been attracted to each other,.....it seemed fake and 'forced', and a decade later I still don't get it. And if I see anymore of them kissing in the rest of this series I'll throw my popcorn at my TV! As much as I LOVED "The Walking Dead" and ALL it's characters (except the Governor), Rick & Michonne's absence from the show was stalled out too long.... my hunger for them has waned. The first episode of this series was engaging; now its like watching "The English Patient" (which was a good movie, but it was suppose to be a romantic movie). I'm still hopeful something spectacular will unfold, like the re-uniting of Darryl, Carol, Maggie and Negan, but the way this story is rolling, I'm just not feeling it.

    I’ll never tire of the Princess Brids reference. First off why did they need to pull over and rest. Just drive through. Either way. There’s no one Jadis could have found them. Is she Sherlock now? Brightside she’s gone gone.

  • @DamTheAbsolute
    @DamTheAbsolute 5 місяців тому +6

    I can't take any more of the plot armor, it's turning the show into a comedy at this point. If they wanted to do more seasons, Jadis should have been a much more formidable big baddie than we saw displayed in this ep. Apparently Rick and Michonne have God's protection, which also makes all their enemies stupid and incapable of shooting people at point blank range. So far R&M haven't really struggled in any significant way that wasn't self-imposed. I am just struggling to believe any of these characters acting and reacting in real human ways, especially Michonne's "we can take on a literal modern army, so long as we stick together Rick" attitude.

    They had 5 years to come up with this story! I can't believe AL and DG came back for this. Not having this storyline resolved on the main show with the regular cast is a massive drawback, too. Jadis speech as she was going out was terrible, but nothing was worse than rick and michonne jumping out of bed to avoid gunfire. Second hand embarrassed for the writers in that moment.

    Solid observations both here, and the Forbes article. Giving passes to scavengers and having it come back on you... implausible scenarios and convienent timing seem to rule the land. Not covering your tracks (looking at you dynamic duo - not that what they might have left behind would have been trackable in the first place) maybe it's head fog from all that free love the apocalypse brings out in people. The equivalent of a buck tracking a doe during the rut.
    It's been my biggest problem with this universe - the actions we're expected to believe taking place by people who are seasoned and battle hardened trench warfare zombie apocalypse survivors. As i've said to people many times before i have no problem WHERE the storytellers want to take the show, or ultimately their end game. ... just give me the plausibility and points of logic that will connect the dots from beginning to end.

    My god, on the one hand, I really liked how it involved original cast members--it felt like a TWD main show episode. But on the other hand, maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind? Because I took about 6 breaks to get through this episode. (I didn't struggle this much with the previous ones.) Or maybe it was just a big pile of shirts?
    I think it was a mix of both my poor attention span in the moment and it being poop. I felt nothing in the later half, when clearly I'm supposed to. As I am watching a sad moment, I'm more sad about how disappointing this is than actually what's on screen.

"So the movie can happen". 3) Why did Jadis perform a Bond villain monologue when we all know that long villainous monologues instead of unaliving the hero immediately NEVER turns out well? "SO THE MOVIE CAN HAPPEN!!"

Can't say i blame you though... and tbh it was Erik's reviews i relied on every week to get me current and push through the last season or so of FTWD - which i thought was on its way to giving me seizures and forced me to stop so i could still respect myself in the morning.
      To put it in perspective... when you have a show you that you watch that you purposefully do not tell friends about - that's when you know there's an across the board full spectrum problem here.

    I didn't mention it last review, but their was a moment when i suspended belief as rick and michonne drove away at the end of episode 4...then i had my hopes dashed when michonne said "I understand why we can't go back" in the trailer for the next episode, (Sure made certain arguments more tedious after the fact) and spent this episode waiting for this "justification" It seems that they aren't going back simply to stay which is better that i expected. I don't think they really knew what to do with jadis. Did they really need to kill her off?I wasn't a huge fan, but i felt like if they put her in the position she's in she would do more.
    I also thought that the calcified walker was going to turn out to be a variant of some kind and they would realize the walkers turning into a new kind of environmental threat of some kind and they were gonna find out some things in the echelon report by happenstance and go back to get the rest of the info. The gabriel stuff was nice, i love gabriel so taken as a isolated thing, im okay with it.
    Poor gabriel even in a world after the commonwealth is now a place to truly live he is still facing hardships.
