That is the absolute most G way a person can pay for something. No bill of sale, no receipt, no order slip, not even a price quoted- just break off a few bills from your stack and walk out.
Bodie's comment that 'when you stand with a guy you stand with him until the end otherwise you ain't nothin yourself' foreshadows his loyalty to Avon and why he couldn't bring himself to switch to Marlo's side.
Quite possibly one of the dopest scenes ever filmed for any medium of film- series or otherwise, let alone a stand out scene for The Wire. The entire dialogue sequence is incredible. It speaks to theq overall point of the game- the wins and losses. 💯
D'Angelo picked the wrong time to have a heart. He got himself killed stupidly. Great actor and character. Bodie's dialogue is amazing. The actor playing him was in 3 of the big 4 gangster shows of the era (Breaking Bad is second tier); OZ, The Wire and in one brief scene, The Sopranos. His prose about, "if he ain't shxt, then neither am I", sums up the fragile brotherhood of street hoodlums. They may talk, no honor amongst thieves, but you really don't make it without partners-homeboys.
Yes it's a crying shame. At the time, the show wasn't considered a hit. It was always struggling with average viewership so I guess it wasn't that great a mark on their portfolio

Does anyone have that aura where the florist must have been in the game and escaped it for a good job to get away from a life of crime. He could be convincing Bodie to get out, but he must also know that they don't want to move from where they are.
Interesting scene. It has nothing to do with the story, only with Bodie. It is part of his development. He still believes all that "we're family stuff". When the florist asks him to write something about how he feels, he gets uncomfortable and bucks. I wonder if that is the first seed of him thinking, maybe it isn't as simple as "we're soldiers" Perhaps it is not so black and white.
First seeing this scene it's sad because the reason Bodie gets the flowers, but also funny of there being a 'hood' flowerist. In hindsight, being a hood flowerist in Baltimore probably is a good business 😂. I believe Prop Joe went to the same shop to get flowers for Butchie. I can imagine Prop Joe and the flowerist know each other for a long time
Yeah theres a fan theory because there is a line that I can't remember but its about an old crew whose leader got shot and got out the game he own a place down on some street. Well someone did the reaserach and its the address for the florist.
I live near Baltimore and I'm ordering Mothers Day flowers from the real florist where this was filmed. Pearson's Flowers. Mr Pearson is great! Beautiful arrangements. I went there just to see the place and over overwhelmed by the presentation. Just had to.

Yea the murder wasn't very realistic, he didn't look dead
Apparently strangulation is a gruesome way to go
that's a quality customer service right there.
I always loved this scene for some reason
That is the absolute most G way a person can pay for something. No bill of sale, no receipt, no order slip, not even a price quoted- just break off a few bills from your stack and walk out.
He wasn't weak in the game he just had a heart.
In the game that level of apathy is chink in the armour. However, for the average person, that's the way it's supposed to be
You've got to appreciate how Bodie interacted with everyone the same, whether they're in the game or not. No wonder why he didn't get on with Marlo.
"He's a weak ass nigga when you think about it" 😂 ...only Bodie
RIP to the sound lad playing the florist. He played the transition from professional florist to gang banger florist perfectly
Bodie's comment that 'when you stand with a guy you stand with him until the end otherwise you ain't nothin yourself' foreshadows his loyalty to Avon and why he couldn't bring himself to switch to Marlo's side.
The florist is probably the most paid legal professional in baltimore thats not a lawyer or politician
I wish they had more of this florist in the show. He seemed to have a 'take' on 'da life'. RIP sir, you were with us for too short a time...
god damn this might be one of the funniest scenes in the show, when they go to the back and i see rip and guns made out of flowers i start dying
Bodie:
“Weak ass nigga when you think 🤔 about it”
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Quite possibly one of the dopest scenes ever filmed for any medium of film- series or otherwise, let alone a stand out scene for The Wire. The entire dialogue sequence is incredible. It speaks to theq overall point of the game- the wins and losses. 💯
D'Angelo picked the wrong time to have a heart.
He got himself killed stupidly. Great actor and character.
Bodie's dialogue is amazing.
The actor playing him was in 3 of the big 4 gangster shows of the era (Breaking Bad is second tier);
OZ, The Wire and in one brief scene, The Sopranos.
His prose about, "if he ain't shxt, then neither am I", sums up the fragile brotherhood of street hoodlums. They may talk, no honor amongst thieves, but you really don't make it without partners-homeboys.
"(Breaking Bad is second tier)"
wtf
oz is NOT in a tier above breaking bad, cmon man lol
That last line from Bodie makes this my favorite scene of his in the show. The truth always matters to humans, and even criminals are human.
I really wish I saw more Wire actors in prominent parts than I do. And not just in tv commercials and terrible science fiction movies.
Yes it's a crying shame. At the time, the show wasn't considered a hit. It was always struggling with average viewership so I guess it wasn't that great a mark on their portfolio
1:31 The florist knew the truth while bodie was completely unaware. Amazing detail on the florist's face to show that
RIP to the actor playing the Florist, just read he died in his sleep. I inmediatly thought, if that man was my friend ir I would have send the same arrengement of flowers that D had from Bodie. Just like a lil homage to the man and to the wire
Bodie was a good dude. A real down homeboy. He was the type of dude who'd tell you the truth to your face.
Traye76 just like he did to Lex about Patrice. Told him let that shit go, ain’t no need beefing over no pussy. But Lex simping ass ain’t listen and well we know what happened to him..
Bodie one of the realist homies even on Oz and got a glimpse of him on sopranos
The moment i fell in love with bodie
Bodie : "You stand with a nigga till the end"
Also Bodie : "He a weak ass nigga tho"
Does anyone have that aura where the florist must have been in the game and escaped it for a good job to get away from a life of crime. He could be convincing Bodie to get out, but he must also know that they don't want to move from where they are.
The florist is the one that sit Deangelo up to be murdered in jail
Exactly the feel I got ..soon as he understands what bodie was saying he knew what to do
Cleaned his whole ack up.
Poot was surely coming for that guys job in about 15 years
Came here from another wire vid.Poot became the florist,Michael became Omar,Dukie became bubbles.
"...weak-ass nigga if you think about it..." damn that line is pure gold xD
Bodie didn't even check to see if that florist put his finger on the scale.

"....Just make The Towers look like they do..." --- Preston "Bodie" Brodus
d'angelo is going to be remembered as 221 from now on
TWO TWO ONE, FUCK FREE WORLD. oops
Professional relationship- yeah professional- I think am on it . God bless David Simon . This show is just amazing
You can watch this scene alone and you will learn everything you need to know about Bodie
Bodie is so cute
ice cold gey
This florist has a better memory than 99 waiters, especially after the request Prop dictated
That's a gangsta ass florist
A real businessman. After a few questions, he knew exactly what the customer wanted.
Its scenes like these that made the wire soo good
The saddest part of body getting taken out is that he won’t be around to plan my funeral for me
0:54 almost seems like something that would be in a comedy. but probably how a flower shop in the hood would legit be like
Seriously though, this kinda thing at a florist shop goes on a lot in Baltimore.
