Can I ask you, compared to the sound in the studio before the final mix, how do you think the final mix of the album sounds, with you and the rest of the choir on? :)
I can't really hear myself or the other basses that well on the CD. In the studio (standing next to the other basses) the choir sounded a lot different, especially on songs like "The Essence of Silence" where all you can hear on the CD are the sopranos. I think the choir was mixed a bit too much towards the female singers, but other than that I like how the album turned out!
+Slick Sam awesome very interesting to read your comments :) I wonder if they did that because Epica's rhythm section already completely fills up most of the low frequencies so naturally the female singers stand out more. If they had boosted the male voices, maybe it would've taken away from the instruments or whatever. What do you think?

The intro is just perfection, I have never heard anything better
Arien's spoken words, combined with more choir work, and of course Simone's angelic voice. Yes, we are definitely back to the quality of Design your Universe. Cannot wait!!!
Fuckkk. This just keeps getting better and better.. the choir arrangements sound superb, and Simone's voice sounds as sweet as ever. And that last song tease was incredible! May needs to hurry its ass up!
Oh, and extra props for the Rhodes keyboard and glockenspiel action in the acoustic tune!
Simone sings beautifully at 3:58 - 4:29 almost made me drop some tears :)
The Quantum Enigma is by far the best album of Epica! I love it so much, that I listen to it every day! The show in Bochum was also awesome! ;)

Mark said Simone would take vocal lessons back when they were promoting Retrospect, and now she sounds amazing, I'm waiting to hear what her fully trained lyrical voice will sound like for the first time ever
How do you know that? About Mark and Simone? I'm waiting it too!
I don't remember where I read it, but he has said so several times, even in Retrospect itself she sang an aria with Floor, but I'm pretty sure I've seen at least 3 interviews in which Mark confirms Simone went back to lyrical singing lessons. Besides, after Tarja had Naomi she got a lot better live, I'm sure it will happen the same with Simone, and we all know she's very talented :)

Glad to hear Simone is returning to her singing style from the early years. Hopefully she brings back the same vocals that was in the divine conspiracy
BOO to that. She's allowed to explore her vocal range and experiment with style. That's HER instrument. Fuck all of you who put her through hell with bad sentiments because YOU feel self-entitled. An artist is an artist and cannot be contained. When they were promoting the last album Isaac applauded her vocal exploration as enriching the album. Plus, if you really LISTEN, you'll find that she hasn't "returned" to her vocal style. She doesn't sound like that. A voice changes with the person. I don't want to hear one more fucking comment like this. I swear if I was in front of anyone who said it, I'd punch you right in the face. Yea. I mean it.

RFTI is by far my favorite Epica album, and I think this one is going to be better. Cannot wait for this to be released!!
I love the previous albums, but this can be something else.

Sounds completely amazing! It is going to be an agonizing two months until the release! I wonder if the instrumental tracks on disc three will be identical to the tracks on disc one, minus the vocals, or if they will be different arrangements . If they are different arrangements, I'll definitely get the Earbook version.
