I don't think I'll ever stop missing this show. But, that scene in the final when Eric is with his new team in Penn, "Clear eyes, full hearts..." and they just look at him. I love it. I like think about a month or so later, they'll know what that means. Kyle Chandler was amazing, every week.
1 of the most underrated actors ever. What a mentor! This is the kinda man I aspire to be, both as a father and husband, all round true leadership qualities.
I think the best speech Coach Taylor gives is in the pilot at the end. I could never quote the whole thing right now, but its basically about being tested, and knowing how fragile life is, and to not take it for granted. It is said after the game and it almost sounds like an inpromptude prayer (after the Street incident) I loved it! Although Coach Taylor has had some pretty fantastic speeches, that one was my favorite, close second would have to be the Speech at the end of season 2
+godreu9 It's interesting that you said it almost sounded like an impromptu prayer at the end because a LOT of the dialogue of the show was improvised. They knew the plot, and they had certain lines they had to say, but much was improvised. So, Kyle Chandler may well have improvised what he said at the end of the pilot, or partly improvised it.
i am greek,i am a girl and that show made me love american football.....such great series....i just watched the last episode and i'm still so sad it ended.Kyle Chandler is a great actor and i loved his character so much.....I'll miss you friday night lights!
ilovemydog Cool story, this show was so great. Coach Taylor is one of my all time favorite characters. And, I love my dog too. And football. Do you still love American football? 5 years later... that's kind of a long time...
Who ever wrote those speeches should work for the president or something as a speechwriter.....cause evertime coach taylor say something, i sure stop and listen on what ever he is about to say ^_^
+Zarahemla You know, much of the dialogue was improvised. Not from scratch; they knew what the plot was, and there were certain lines that had to get in there. But past that, a lot of the dialogue was improvised. I find that amazing.
Yeah, but they gave it five seasons and a proper finale which is pretty generous considering the ratings it got. For whatever reason most people would rather watch a singing competition or another cop show than a show like FNL. Not sure why. Its one of my favorite shows.
+IspitHotFiyaa Yeah, I think it didn't find an audience cause people thought it was either about teenagers or football. There wasn't really a way for them to get across that it was neither and both and much much more.... But it's gotten tons of fans since it went off the air.
Lucky that you could stretch it out so far. I watched 5 seasons in 4 days. And I became so emotionally attached... I might cut out my heart. It's tooo painful. I NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
+IamNotAfrog123 Awww, I hope you've recovered. But I definitely know what you mean. I've watched this show many times including when it first aired.....
Before i walk on to a football field or a basketball court i say. CLEAR EYES FULL HEARTS and every one of my friends/broths/team mates say CANT LOSE! its a brotherhood
GOD BLESS ERIC TAYLOR. I am a very good example of PROOF that this series was 100/100. I NEVER watch series, and I also fuckin hate the whole greenscreen/bluescreen/CGI dogshit movies where every actor has tons of make up and there is nothing genuine anymore. You don't have to agree with me, just trying to tell you that when I watched this series, I was sad for weeks after it had ended. It has a natural power, authentic, love, failing, slice of life. Just everything is in FNL
+CJamison Well....I'd say it was underwatched. (Tho I think many people have found it streaming since it aired.) But not really underrated by most who watched it, I don't think. It's a gem and people who've actually seen it, including critics, seem to mostly know that.
+Chode Yes. But it's a really great five season show, that, despite what they say about season two, was so good all the way through. And they wrapped it up so nicely without it feeling corny. Somehow! Such a beautiful show in so many ways....
lol I have been addicted to Friday Night Lights all week! OMG I have watched 3 whole seasons and I still have 1 more season. Easily one of the best TV shows I have ever seen and I have seen a lot of good TV shows. Clear Eyes Full Hearts Can't Lose!
+jessica Aw, rewatch! You won't be disappointed. (Yes, I know you wrote your comment over six years ago, haha. But still, this show does not let you down with multiple viewings.)
I can't complain about how this show ended so i'm not gonna get into a big debacle about how nbc are assholes (they are). Always is the most fitting end to a series I have seen. I would have ended the show after 5 seasons anyway. You can't push perfection or you'll wreck it
@@231swift Haha. I had to look up what hand eggball meant, but YES. I have zero interest in football and I love this show madly. It's so much more than what people imagine. If you've watched it since you posted, interested to hear what you thought.
I had a problem with that pep talk he gave Matt in season 3 saying ‘you listen to me. That is not my quarterback, you are my quarterback’ when talking about JD and then the next damn week he was benching Matt and starting JD. He straight up lied to Matt’s face and rushed JD too soon. Who on earth starts a freshman over a state championship winning senior?
I don't think I'll ever stop missing this show. But, that scene in the final when Eric is with his new team in Penn, "Clear eyes, full hearts..." and they just look at him. I love it.

+cards Kyle Chandler was amazing every week. YES.
The writing for this series was outstanding and the actors really brought it to life. Great great tv.
Couldn’t put a better actor to play coach!! He really inspired every emotion..
We all need a Coach Taylor in our head, to give us a pep talk/inspirational speech every now and then!
As much as he said "Let me tell you something" his pep talks were always giving me goosebumps and inspiration 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
+Sean Haha, yeah, when you hear it all in a row here it's a little unfair cause you are right, they were always amazing. Goosebumps is correct.
1 of the most underrated actors ever. What a mentor! This is the kinda man I aspire to be, both as a father and husband, all round true leadership qualities.
Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose. Texas Forever.
Moto for life

MutLu Hashim ❤️
This show changed my life. Coach Taylor is my role model.
+Julio Wow. I wonder if Kyle Chandler knows how much impact he had on kids' lives. People's lives.
Binge watched this show completely about 4 or 5 times, you can do that when you are retired.
+Daniel I've done that too. Watched it when it originally aired and then I can't even count how many times since.
Ok boomer
I'm supposed to be enjoying my break but instead I'm sitting here reminiscing about a show that came out 12 years ago. 😩
+Larry B It's a great show. And if you haven't, I recommend rewatching. You won't believe how much you missed and don't remember.
They didn't really cancel it. It ended. Imo it ended perfectly. Any more seasons would've felt forced
+Tyler Festa Yeah, I agree.
Agree
2018 and i still love this show
+RHMDC5 Me too. It doesn't get old. It just doesn't.
I like how Landry finished it for him at the end. What an amazing show
+Sean YES.
You mean Lance?
