    Maida Heatter's famous lemon cake first appeared in the New York Times in the 1970s. The cake was found by her daughter, who lived on East 62nd Street at the time. This is why the cake is known in New York as East 62nd Street Lemon Cake.
    Ingredients
    - 400 g wheat flour
    - 2 teaspoons baking powder
    - Half a teaspoon of salt
    - 200 g butter, room temperature
    - 200 g sugar
    - 4 eggs
    - 230 ml milk
    - 2 tablespoons lemon zest (2 to 3 lemons)
    - 1 sachet of vanilla sugar
    - 2 tablespoons poppy seeds
    - Fresh raspberries to decorate (optional; can be replaced by other berries)
    For the icing:
    - 100 g powdered sugar
    - approx. 1.5-2 tablespoons of lemon juice
