It still does its job. Don't get me wrong XC1's opening is great because of its grand scale and the mystery surrounding it (like why they stopped fighting). XC2's opening is fine and all, it has a good scale, not as grand as the first one, but it does its job of explaining what we need to know about the world around us for now until more reveals come later on. XC1 was good at this by setting up the war between Homs and Mechon with Dunban in the tutorial. XC2 is good at this because it sets up the main conflict of the game, that space for people to live on is running out. I don't like defending XC2 because I honestly thought it was one of the worst games I've ever played, but I have to give credit where it's due, I suppose.
Xenogears: Massive space ship goes on red alert, space and time are apparently falling apart, everyone's panicking, people are evacuating, an evil ai is killing everyone who tries to escape, explosions, naked woman standing on the beach Xenoblade 1: Two titans battle to the death followed by one of the coolest characters in all of gamming history fighting off an army of robots with what is essentially a magic lightsaber. Xenoblade 2: Some kid fights a krab. Wtf happen to this series.
Brentinitis LPs This game starts off really slow, but I have to admit that the middle-end of this game is better than XC 1's middle-end. Never played Gears, but Saga also had a slow start.
XC2 builds up slowly throughout the (for me) ~50 hours of Story. And in moments you think "This has to be it. It can't get any better", it does. Like - always.
I’ve played every single xeno game. Never dismiss or give up on any entry. That’s always a mistake. This game is no exception. Given full context I really like chapter 1 of this game. It’s not as eye catching as some intros but it makes alot of sense for this story.
