People be talking smack about the budget but most people wlll spend this much on garbage that wont last and they'll throw away anyway, buy quality not quantity
While this is true there is still a difference between buying things at a high cost for the sake of being a high cost rather than spending a fair amount for good quality products. i.e. the leather sneakers in the video could be replaced by a high quality leather shoe or boot that's significantly less than the sneaker. A good quality leather shoe can be repaired if needed (soles replaced, uppers and lower, etc.) whereas a sneaker in need or repair is more likely to replaced entirely. Additionally, a good quality leather shoe or boot can be had for a much lower price tag than the sneakers. I still like the philosophy and ideas presented in the video, but I do think that this perspective should also be paired with a mindset that excludes the desire for 'luxury' items. Quality (and minimalism) does not have to come at a steep price.
My minimal wear is tank top, boxers and sandals.

Love this video. I have a baby boy and we will start traveling after the world opens back up. I want to get him a small wardrobe for when we travel and just have multiple undershirts for if accidents happen. I also am trying to get my wardrobe down to a more manageable size for travel during all seasons as well. I do buy slow fashion items and I love your aesthetic. I think I can actually transfer this to my feminine, classic, girlie wardrobe. A new subscriber for sure.

Ordered an AMI hoodie in a M and it fits well but just a little too snug. Im going to exchange it for a L to compensate for washes and shrinking. Would you recommend a size M or L for the Acne Studios sweatshirt?
Agreed, that's a good call. I found my AS sweatshirts run true to size with a little bit extra room.

I'm definitely a proponent of buying quality over quality. I wear them a lot more and the quality is much higher
Just about everything here (maybe except the shoes) you can find an alternative for in places like Costco, Walmart, and Target. It's really basic pieces so one should be able to find them everywhere.
What socks are you wearing? They look really nice and with thick fabric. I also like that you can see a pattern up close. I usually wear sport sock because they last a lot longer and my pants falls down on the shoes. Not cropped like yours. However, when I sit, you can see that I wear a sport sock. I am interested in some nicer socks but there is so many brands to choose from. Thick cotton socks are nice, but wool is a better material. Uniqlo probably has very good socks so I am going to invest there, I have also heard that they have great t shirts. Socks are important as you use them every day but does not last that long. However, I also want to invest in some higher quality sock when I dress more formal, such as a suit.
That makes perfect sense. Unfortunately, I can't recall the brand of the socks featured in the video. All that I remember is that they were picked at the store from Nordstrom years ago. I love them too, that's why I even went back to pick up three more pairs.

Why not Issey Miyaki trousers? What do you love about the Uniqlo besides their great price? Just curious. Looks great but I notice all your pieces are $200-900 but your pants are $30-50.
Great question! Besides brand heritage and quality, I found the ankle length pants from Uniqlo are very practical. The string waist design with a smart look is a perfect combination for people like me who doesn't like to wear a belt. They are also very understated, Issey Miyaki on the other hand, is very trendy and easily recognizable (not saying they are bad). In short, I hadn't found other options that provided me both comfort and practicality a few years back. One other reason was because of holiday weight gains made me feel bad that some of my pants no longer fit and wasted (It's under control now lol). So cheaper options is more manageable.

Anyway my take on Fast fashion vs ‘long term pieces’ from these luxury brands. Research has actually shown regardless of the so called ‘sustainability’ the mark up on some of these products is illogical and if you do the comparison cost of production, marketing etc they would still ale profit without ripping consumers In my opinion fashion is not well regulated in terms of pricing etc The conglomerates LVMH don’t care about ‘sustainability’ really its more about making millions for their CEOs while charging extortionate prices in the name of saving the environment
PS: I own well over 10 pairs (each) of Common Projects and Lanvin DBB1 sneakers and I guess if your bank account allows then it’s a personal matter how much you spend

To be honest I don't think this is the correct way to approach this thematic in the sense that minimalism applied to a wardrobe is not necessary related to quality and even if it did, by advertisi... using ultra-expensive items such as these to portrait the concept has little value. In a single case there is more money invested than in most people full wardrobes. A quality pair of bland white sneakers does not need to cost hundreds of dollars, that is lunacy and purely trend driven, there are much more high-end affordable options and in the case of Common Projects, lets face it, we are deep enough into the "diminishing returns" realm which is something most should avoid unless you can really afford it. Go a little but less minimal and you have dozens of all-white sneakers that will still hold up good at a fraction of those CP which will also eventually give up on you.
Also, are we just ignoring the fact that unless you have a very specific lifestyle and you live in a very specific environment, that grey suitcase will do you no good at all? Not a single longer coat or parka? No shorts? Anyway, maybe I am a poor cheap bastard but If I were to wear any of those items I would be more worried about messing them up (especially the pure white sneakers!) everytime I went outside and I would be constantly worried about picking my son up in my arms, he would make a mess out of my thousand dollar outfit in the blink of an eye.
Still, awesome production value, the content however is not for the mere mortal I am afraid...

If those expensive brands would have better quality, I would be willing to spend this much. But most of the times those clothes are made in the same sweatshops just with a differen label than cheaper brands. So I buy my clothes from fair, european brands
How much do you know about materials? Do you know enough of all these brands featured in this video? On top of that, brands are not just a reflection of quality, it also about representation and heritage. What you believe that aligns with what the brands represent. I'm sorry this is way over your head.

How to be basic 101.... minimalism lacks any individuality...... but I agree with overall concept with buying low amount of products and quality 1st in buying for long term use.
Black, white, grey. Saying texture is your use of individuality is weak imo. There's no real character there. It's like a generic copy and paste of any other minimalist person.

Minimalism is almost a cult following really. I agree with a vast array of points with it as a lifestyle. However, it truly lacks character and individuality in ANY esthetical way.
It's often very generic really. Copy and paste of materials and colors offering nothing interesting to really look at other than being "clean" (which is the best description I can give minimalist living).
I'm all for minimal items, and just meeting your basic needs when it comes to stuff.... BUT... you're allowed to have character in design. Minimalism simply really doesn't express that.
@@HedonismCFP No one. Much like a uniform in school could be called "minimalist" as you need only one outfit. This video further proves that. Slight texture changes doesn't provide character to a person at all. Colors are JUST as important.
And though I love black, white, and grey..... can we not have some brown, blue, green, etc mixed in as well? In the styel of minimalism that's considered taboo basically as black, white, and grey are basically the ONLY colors allowed. Texture and materiality is what makes minimalism what it is.....
I argue why not have all the above? 🤷♂️ This video really proved the point to me though. Everyone looking like this..... make you look like NPCS in a game. Just with SLIGHTLY different texture gardients.
