They all sound great! All a matter of taste and opinion. They're all great companies! Just pick one! Throw a set of emperors on all of em and it's a beauty contest at that point.
That snare with the DW kit sounded like shit. The tama snare sounded best IMO and the Pearl kit sounded the best out of all of them(no surprise). There is something wrong with the audio on this video though.
It helps us make decisions to know what we like, or what we would prefer buying. It gives us a guess to how it would sound raw, and in comparison to other high end kits. Every musician does this when picking equipment, including guitarists, bassists, singers, etc.
+Seppo Innanen Actually I think an amatuer playing them is actually good to hear how they sound because a pro will make anything sound great and it becomes distracting to how the kit itself sounds because of how great the player sounds and I also like the idea of no mics. However I still don't recommend this video. The reason being is that the drums are not tuned properly. I have a DW performance series and without being biased I can tell you that if it had been tuned properly It definitely would have beaten the Pearl and the Tama. I'm not sure about the Gretsch kit because I haven't played the New Classic series but I have played plenty of Pearl Masters kits, Tama Starclassic kits and even Reference kits and I'd prefer the sound of The DW performance over any of them any day. Don't get me wrong. I think they are all great kits. Bottom line is that the kits (especially the DW) are not tuned properly so it's not a good comparison video.
What's happened here is someone who knows how to tune drums tunes the Pearls and the other kits some amateur just threw them up and said good nuff 😂😂 cause I've heard this kits in many other reviews and they sounded much better
1. DW 2. TAMA 3. Pearl 4. Gretsch. But this is a pointless excercise unless they all have the same heads on them or you test them all with a bunch of different heads. Also, it looks like he is in different room every time. That makes a MASSIVE difference. None of these kits sound bad though that's for sure. I just found the DW kit to have the best (to me) rack toms, kick, and snare. The gretsch had the best floor tom imo but the kick sounded weak compared to the other kits (especially the DW)
That's a decent drum review! No high end mixing, great strokes on every piece of drum, and the most important, no bullshit talk just playing!
$5,000
Fully loaded Pearl/TAMA/Gretsch with EPIC sound and hardware OR 22" wooden circle with a DW logo on it...
Pearl! Number 1 place.
Yes pearl #1
Pearl all the way!!!!!!
They all sound great! All a matter of taste and opinion. They're all great companies! Just pick one! Throw a set of emperors on all of em and it's a beauty contest at that point.
All sound great, love the Gretsch new classic tom sound but the kicks of the dw & tama sound better...pearl sounds great too..i like em all
How can anyone here compare drums without using the same heads on each one
Pearl MMX all the way!!!! to me: 1- PEARL 2- GRESTCH 3- TAMA AND 4- DW ;)
MMX - однозначно!
Pearl!!!!Grestch..and that's it!
1) Pearl, 2) DW, 3) Gretsch 4) by a long shot Tama.. That Tama is hideous.. my lord.
Wait a minute, looks like they are in the same room but different places? Still makes a huge difference.
All Maple, all good. Depends on your taste which one you prefer.
One thing I will say about DW, best kick drums and snare IMO
Pearl, Tama, Gretch , DW
I didn't know Tommy Wiseau was such a good drummer!
Is this the guy from the IT movie
Pearl number # 1
1. Pearl 2. Dw 3. Tama and Gretch is a tie for third
Great video but - every kit is in a different location as well as the mic.
tama's kick drum is lauder than oders brands
Tune these drums ,Except for the Pearls.they are by far the best.IMO
1. PEARL 2. GRETSCH 3. TAMA 4 DW.
pearl
Yes yes yes pearl
I actually liked the sound of my starclassic performers birtch shells compared to my masters custom mmx maple shells. They both sound good tho.
PEARL,GRETSCH,DW,TAMA
Pearl #1 👍👍
Pearl and Gretsch....you can keep the rest.
Pearl Masters MMX! :D
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🤩
Pearl For Sure
1 pearl 2 tama 3 dw 4 gretsch
Pearl to my ears iv just picked a set up for £300 .. try finding a dw for that kind of money .. and good enough to keep in the van !! Enough said
you can't use this video to rate the sound ts not accurate the volumes aren't recorded the same
Exactly. Human ears are highly influenced by volume. Everything sounds better as it gets louder up to a point (logarithmic scale).
Pearl!
Tama by far, kit has the most balls
Number 1 Pearl
taking apart different levels of mikig and fact they are all hi end comparable kits, to me would say : DW-Tama-Pearl-Gretsch
I prefer pearl thou its solid
mmm so .... 1. Pearl 2.Dw . 3.Tama 4.Grestch, but the all sets are incredibles.
Any kit but the Gretsch sounded good.
But you didnt tune it well
The gretsch must be in the aqustic sweet spot because that shit sounds sweet
pearl and dw really do make the best kits now a days but dw has crazy prices just because its "dw"
Pearl and tama sounded better in this case than DW and Gretsch
Pearl
That snare with the DW kit sounded like shit. The tama snare sounded best IMO and the Pearl kit sounded the best out of all of them(no surprise). There is something wrong with the audio on this video though.
That guys hair ftw
Tama. Watch home boy play.....he felt it, just like every other Tama guy.
DW is in a smaller room.
sounds like the new classic to me
So, some of you rate the drums by watching this amateur quality clip. Are you serious??

funny technique...
None were anything special here, but Pearl was the best.
Dw sounds the best by far.
1. Gretsch 2. Pearl 3. DW
TAMAAAAAAAA
Gretsch, Pearl, Tama,.....................................................dw
Gretsch
Tama is the best, lasts longer and had way better hardware
What's happened here is someone who knows how to tune drums tunes the Pearls and the other kits some amateur just threw them up and said good nuff 😂😂 cause I've heard this kits in many other reviews and they sounded much better

Tama sounds the best
Tama all day
The DW sounded the best in that line up hands down
Should learn how to tune drums before doing a drum comparison video. But either way tuned or not, Tama all day.
WASH UR HAIR FFS!
I always hated pearl shells, I think 1 was star classic 2 dW 3 gretsh witch I usually don't like gretsh
1- Gretsch -2 Tama -3 Pearl -4 DW
The best is dw
