Thanks for watching. The pods add a little flotation to the rear to offset some of the motor weight. Boat sits a kittle more level in the water. They also help to get on plane and add some side to side stability, believe it or not. I always put the plug in from the outside, never had an issue.

I have a side console so I could see the benefits after your video! I’ve always gone from the outside but have had people telling me recently to do drain plug from inside. All the best
@bobbysmith7528 it would be hard for me to do it from the I side as my bilge pump would be in the way. I use the t style and have never caught it on anything. We've bounced over logs, bottomed out in rock rivers and deep grass. In an emergency I feel I could get to it from the outside quicker.

I had a moment where I took my girlfriend and her father to a bank for lunch and when tide let out my T actually caught on a rock and fell out but I remembered having a spare for my live well, after that I have 3 different plugs scattered in my vessel as insurance, either way we're safe LoL. Hey, Looks like you mounted the pods flush with the bottom of the boat, rather than horizontal matching the side of the boat, makes sense to get as much lift as possible, how do you like the performance of them, mounted like that, never seen them mounted that way.
They are mounted up a little bit, it's just hard to tell from the video. They work very well. I'm happy with the way they turned out. They are on the same plane as the bottom of the boat, just had to be adjusted a bit.
I have the 2019 1548 with the 1 center seat in front of the tiller. Id love todo that dual seat set up. Do you happen to have the links to the seats and the mounts?
I don't off hand. The seats and mounts came from bass pro. They are the standard seat base. I believe walmart carries them much cheaper. I see bass pro now wants 50 each.
I'm sure it would work. When I thought about doing that I talked to a few mud motor company's, and they said it's not the right hull design to worth with a surface drive. They also told me the transom would need some significant bracing added. There are guys who run them on the grizzly, but you won't get the full potential of the motor.
Are those the medium size beavertail pods? And the gun box you said that came from the bass pro/cabelas store? Im getting the same boat and doing the same thing you did. Thanks for the info
They are the medium. Somome told me.beavertail no longer made pods but I haven't checked to see if that was true. The box is from tracker. Be persistent as most employees don't know it's available because it's special order.

They offer a few. More buoyancy to offset weight of motor, boat will plane out better, get on plane faster. They also push water towards the motor, if you run a jackplate there are some benefits there.
I spoke with the bass pro near toledo. They didn't have one. I drove to Schnelker marine in Indiana. If I had to do it again I would probably go the 1860.
@@WilliamsonProductio1 each is screwd down with multiple stainless steel screws. Its a tight fit but it works well. I think they changed the front hatch design since I bought mine.

BTW, put that transom drainplug in from the inside so if it pops out you still have it. OR carry a spare.
I can't get my hand in from the Inside. We do carry about 3 extra plugs. Knock on wood we've never lost one

With an empty boat I think I get 37 to 38. But I would have to check again. Might be taking it out this weekend.
what do you think this same boat with a 35 gator tail surface drive would work like .It has no pods but I could add them.Thanks

So I'm curious I need to know so the other holes up by the seats they use to put foam inside of the boat can you use those to put in extra seats?
No those are just plugs, maybe you could use a hole saw around them but you need to watch where the cross bracing is.

I’m getting ready to put pods on my my tracker 1648. Did you make the bottoms flush or the tops level?
I matched the angle on the bottom but came up a bit per the instructions. I'll see if I can find a pic to send you.

Good video… how did you mount the seat posts on the rear bench without hardware pullout?
We just used the largest sheet metal screws I could find. No issues and they are very sturdy. No movement at all.
Where did you get deck box. Just got a 1754 myself and that would be a great addition
The side box was ordered directly through bass pro. Its a great addition and offers storage that the boat was lacking

How did you prep before you put down your sea decking?
Just used a degreaser and rinsed it off. No sanding or anything like that required. Still looks like the day I out it down. That was in spring of 2018
What size fuel tank was this I didn't catch it
We run a 6 gal. Had a larger one before but we find the 6 is the best all around.

Did you do anything to the surface before applying the seadek?
Just make sure it's clean and dry. This was the 3rd board project I've used seadek on. All have turned out great.

How did you mount batteries upfront securely
Wasn't easy, but each batter is in a batter tray with a nylon strap
