Sweet Raisin Tsoureki Recipe - Turkish Easter Bread

  • Are you looking for a different kind of tsoureki recipe to have with tea? Do you want to learn how to make a specıal traditional Turkish pastry? This is a super delicious and traditional sweet bread, it takes it’s name from Easter festival! You wouldn’t know how easy is it to make a breaded dough! Good thing about this easter bread a like cake is, you wouldn’t need to add too much sugar since it has raisins in it. This pastry can be found in most local pastries in Turkey- Istanbul. But with this recipe you can easily make this delicious cake at home! Even more delicious with the walnuts on it. If you wish, you can garnish with any other dry fruits you want! Trick for the golden color of this special cake is the egg yolks we brush on them. If you are not a big fan of raisins, you can also bake without, but you might need to add a little bit more sugar. Also It is very important to use real bıologıcal butter for great flavor. Also it is an important to point to use yeast and let the dough rest for an hour for yeast to activate.

    Directions: Start by transferring the warm milk into a large bowl Add your yeast and powdered sugar Add eggs And butter at room temperature Start kneading as you gradually add flour Cover your bowl and let the dough rise for an hour One hour later, add your raisins Transfer on the oven tray with baking paper Brush egg yolk on the top You can garnish with some ground walnuts On a 170C (340 F) pre-heated oven, bake for 15 to 20 mins

    Ingredients for Turkish Easter Buns:
    1 stick (100 g) unsalted butter
    0.4 cup (100 ml) milk
    ½ cup powdered sugar
    4 cups flour (all purpose)
    1 tbs dry yeast
    2 eggs
    1 tbs raisins
    To garnish,
    Ground walnuts or sesame seeds

      It's a Greek sweet bread that's eaten at Easter. I have no idea why are Turkish friends have an interest in this bread.
