Yo I'm in the same boat. I put 20x12 on mine with a stock lift. Right now I've got 33x12.5 all terrains on there and I had to cut off just as much plastic as you. But I also had to cut some from the front. But I need new tires since I bought used ones and it will likely fit without any rubbing if I can get 32's or some metric equivalent to 31.5". The other option is to get 10" wide tires and stretch them but I don't want to do that.
Also your tires you said are 305/45/R22 so that's also 32.8". I think if you do the same as me if you can get new tires then you'll be riding smooth no rub with all that trimming you did. Best of luck!
