@@locusmortis can I ask where this is coming from? Because I have been vocal about lots of things that Marvel has done. I’m talking about the story here. Always is an absolutist mentality and the only absolutes I like in my life are made by DC. People have asked for my thoughts on books and i make comments like: I don’t like civil war or House of m and I’m told I don’t know good stories. All i said here was judge it for yourself and I’m told i always defend Marvel or they won’t send me free stuff, which by the way i end up giving away lots of. I hope you enjoy your day.
Can’t wait for this, I remember people flipping out about Cap, Nick Spencer was on Word Ballon when it all happened and John said it best, years from now when it will be collected people are gonna love it.
As much as I love Alex Ross, I'll be getting the standard edition cover. As a big fan of Captain America myself, I have to buy every single Cap Omni, lol. I haven't read this run, but I plan to read them all.
I thought it was a nice twist and definitely a different take that most readers were not used too. I did think the run kind of dropped off toward the end but overall I enjoyed it.
Those Saiz flashback scenes with those beautiful colors. Man. This book is banger. Can’t wait to read it again! Come on vol 2! (Although I think the set-up for Secret Empire way better than actual event.)
I had the first three trades for this run. Actually an interesting read. Totally not what I expected. Art was good, twisty story. I really liked the flashback stuff as well.
I am definitely picking it up but in a couple of weeks. And yes I am a Cap fan. Get me Gruenwald, Stern / Byrne or DeMatteis / Zeck and I will buy them all.
I love the spoiler parts and like to know a bit of the story before I start to read it. I would watch deep dives like you did with the x-men animated series omnibus.
This run was absolutely amazing, one of my favorites. The backlash was so dumb and just from normies who dont read comics. Everyone should let the storytelling cook, most of it reverts back to the status quo by the end of runs anyways.
Think I’m going to give this a try after initially dismissing it for the very reasons Omar said to be careful about. Some of the art looks really nice so worth a look from that POV alone. Thanks for the review Omar
I’m one of the few people that really enjoyed Secret Empire. I’ve been waiting awhile to read everything that leads into it. Which I’m pretty sure is this run? Hopefully.
@@jameswatson5450 I couldn’t agree. Secret empire retroactively made civil war 2 a little better plus the start of the book is so suspenseful when we see all the plans to keep the hero’s away fall into place. Underrated book that I think will be praised in the coming years
Will they be a book Vol.2. Does this book have the Secret empire book in it? Keep up the Great Work. I still hope you all will come to a Dallas Tx con.
« I don’t know if we have a second omnibus » Well we better have it… It’s very frustrating to have a 100$ book labeled volume 1 and don’t have a second volume. I know it’s about sale and everything but at that price with that paper, we really don’t have to worry about Marvel finance.
You sound like someone new to the hobby. We waited 5 years between volumes 1 and 2 of Uncanny X-men and 11 years between Wolverine 1 and 2. Patience is a virtue.
When Captain America throws his mighty shield, All those who chose to oppose his shield must yield! If he's led to a fight and a duel is due, Then the red and the white and the blue'll come through. When Captain America throws his mighty shield!
Having read his Spider-Man run, it made me feel even worse for all the hate his Cap run got, because his Spider-Man run is the best we had in years. Now we're back to being stuck with a creative team who hates the character again
His Spider-Man is a bit of a slow burn in my opinion but it has its moments. The stuff with Black Cat is great and the other moments with Peter's supporting cast are beautiful, but then there's moments such as Peter and Spider-Man becoming separate entities that made it really hard to take it seriously. It is certainly more entertaining than the new run though I will say that. The longer that goes on the less I care about "WHAT DID PETER DO?!".
I don't remember many people really remarking on it until after "What they DID to Cap" and then people hated it by proxy. And I have to include myself in that since after jumping out during Remender's run, I didn't come back until I came back for Captain America: Steve Wilson. But I don't think I ever didn't like Sam Wilson Cap because of that, but because, to me, he looks like a character they couldn't make up their mind on. Is he Cap? Is he Falcom? Why not both! Well, because it looks stupid. The wings plus the shield just look too busy and have always bothered me. I really hate the design of the character. I think I will always love Falcon and hate Sam Wilson: Captain America
Plenty of us read them (or at least some of it) - we think it sucks. Secret Empire and this run were trash in my opinion - if you like it, fine, but lots of people did not.
why vol 1? what has he done besides this? he did secret empire but they have an OHC for that. if they do the whole event in omni its not all nick spencer. so that doesnt make it nick spencer vol 2. this stuff the lead up to secret empire was terrific. secret empire your mileage may vary.
It's volume 1 because this is only half of the Spencer run. Volume 2 will finish out the Wilson and Rogers issues, plus the Secret Empire mini-series. The SE tie-ins outside of Spencer's work aren't needed or essential. It's all done by Spencer.
@@locusmortis 1988? A newbie, huh? But if it's a genuine opinion not just based off of the hail hydra backlash, it's fine. Personally, I appreciated that Nick Spencer tried to do something different even if he didn't quite pull it off.
