Wow these are some world class tips you are giving out. I have a foot injury at the moment because of making this exact mistake. I will start working on what you said about bringing the toes up for the low and mid kicks, and allowing them to point for the high kicks. Just when you think youre finally levelling up you discover a plethora a new things you're still doing wrong :D
@@heatrick What about jamming your toes!? Not only that but you're off balance while kicking & are subject to severe punishment... That's why round style kicks are something I'd prefer to avoid unless a really good opportunity comes up like they are stunned/on defense
@@Dan0rioN If you correct your kicking range, you'll minimise jamming your toes/injuring your foot. Yes, any kicking involves compromising your balance (you're standing on one foot!) and requires a compromise of risk vs reward. Your relative (technical and tactile) skill level determines what this means for you against your current opponent.
Yesterday I hit my training partner's knee with my index toe. Now it's dislocated. I came from kickboxing too and it has been hard to use the correct muay thai foot position. No one teaches this. Thank you
Thank you so much, I’ve been having issues with my ankle because of this, minor inconvenience are the bruised toe nuckles. Celebrating my 1 month Muay Thai journey and I’ve only just begun 😍
Amazingly detailed content and explanations. Watching your stuff feels like I finally got the missing pieces of a puzzle I've been struggling with for years but didn't put too much thought into certain details. A lesson learned long time ago but never finished to the full extent. You make things make sense!
What a funny timing of this topic. I had my first Muay Thai fight last week and now I have this exact problem. Thanks for the upload and valuable information!
Good one, just damaged my insole after a training, gonna practice your tips once I recover. Btw, you got a video about recovering injuries? (like the insole one?)
Although I don’t have a video on recovering from injury, here are a couple of helpful articles: heatrick.com/2013/05/28/thai-boxer-down-injuries/ heatrick.com/2013/07/29/tag-team-physical-therapystrength-conditioning/ And a video looking at restoring the sole of your foot specifically here: heatrick.com/2020/04/22/muay-thai-soft-tissue-work-foot-release-short-foot-exercise/
Thanks for this. I want to do Muay Thai, but am only months in and have already had 2 bad sprains. My frame of reference has been kicking a football, which demonstrably doesn't work 😕
Could you do a video on Shoulder Pain in Muay Thai, why it could be happening and how to correct it? Mine are aching and all I know is it cant be from any form of impact damage.
For me, whenever possible I like to land with the extreme end of the shin, close to the foot. Because it’s the highest velocity part of the limb, furthest from the centre of rotation/pivot point. 💥👌
Hey, could you do a video about your opinion on the use of reflex ball training for Muay Thai? I use them to train my teeps, knees and elbows, and I was wondering if doing that could mess up my technique.
How can i catch up to people who have been training since little im 17 been training a year and won 6 fights lost 2 but the 2 iv lost was to people who have been training for years
No excuses. Get out there. Fight better people and you'll get better yourself or even better WIN.. Its a journey with yourself. Do not compare yourself to other people.. Focus on your self and you'll become better. Focus on others and you'll become bitter.. Win or Learn bro!
You have no idea how golden this information is 🔥
Awesome! Thank you. :)

@@heatrick I wouldn't want to be balancing on one foot near an opponent.. Easy take down... That & they could always range shift back

Sorry to hear about the toe! Speedy recovery 🤞🙏
Thanks a lot for this, I keep messing up my foot because of this I definitely gotta drill it like you said.
It’ll take some drilling to reprogram your habit… but it’s well worth it. 😁👊
Thanks so much this is so helpful! Ive been stuffing my ankle up and all the nerves because ive been using bad range for my roundhouse
Great to hear it helped, thank you. :)

That's brilliant and I needed to know this. And good reminder using the hands for deception as a setup for kicks. Thank you very much!

Ouch! Yes! See if you can put these kicking range tips into effect. 🤕

Interesting! Do you do any other shoulder exercise training, other than Muay Thai?
Thanks for this, I injured my right foot from my first fight 😂 so this is very helpful
How long was the recovery?
How far up the shin is the perfect spot for a low kick?
- Thanks.

Another question, if I may: how rare are broken/fractured shins from kicking?

I wish I could pay you right now for this video. If I knew this before, I would have sprained my foot and dealing with a swollen ankle right now.
It’s a phase we all go through! Hopefully this video will help speed you into building a habit that prevents it though. 😁🙏
This is so helpful, even pros make this mistake.

Did my first Muay Thai class … and injured my foot. Now i found this video 😑

You absolutely can catch up, and surpass others that have been training longer. Check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/Sxe57LzL3eM/v-deo.html
