You should use grinding wheel instead flap wheel. Purpose of flap wheel is to clean rusted, painted surface and for smooth finishing surface. Grinding wheel is abrasive so it's easy to remove welding bumps. I can understand youre not full time welder but you can improvise your welding skills. Other then Love your content. ❤️

"I prefer using a flap wheel because it's safer. Unlike a grinding wheel, a flap wheel doesn't cause the grinder to vibrate as much, which I find more secure."

@@MistryMakeTool I understand your concern, When grind wheel is first mounted due to it's fresh edges it causes little bit vibration, as it's getting used for while its comfortable. This is a disadvantage of abrasive properties of wheels sharp edge. I keep seprate angle grinder for grinding wheel only to avoid vibration in various disc switching.

@@MistryMakeTool but holding the workpiece in your hand while drilling it on a drillpress is "safe"? and i REALLY wouldnt trust that vice for anything "heavy duty" with thoose welds (i am a full time welder)

Love this! Only mod i'd do is make the jaws swappable for soft jaws. Gotta try this one day.

Seen another guy on a different channel build the exact same unit. He knew how to weld though.

and probably sacrificial aluminum jaws, bolt secures on side of steel jaws, or a 'no bolt' clamping option somehow

Welding current setting is low and travel speed of electrode is fast.
