Katie, just wanted to let you know…I had Jane Austen on my shelves but had never read any of them until I came across Jane Austen July, and over time, I have read them all, thanks to you! I’d only ever seen the adaptations, and loved them but now I’ve read them all and I’m now getting onto the adaptations which have been piling up on my shelves! This is all down to getting the push I needed from your channel! Thankyou so much!

The Jane Austen Project sounds fun. I'm interested to hear how you find it. Remarkable Creatures is a fictional account of Mary Anning and Elizabeth Philpot. I really enjoyed reading it. Two interesting women who should have been more recognised for their work and their finds. I hope you have a wonderful Jane Austen July.

Can't wait for July to start. I am planning to read Sense and Sensibility and a modern retelling or two probably of P&P. I also plan to read The Real Jane Austen as my nonfiction book. I will also watch the new Persuasion movie on Netflix but I am very skeptical too. We'll see how it goes.

However, I have been putting off reading any of her books and that is why I'm so excited for Jane Austen July which I have just found out about.

I ordered Godmersham Park a few days ago, so hopefully it will arrive in time for me to read for JAJ! Reputation has been on my wishlist for a while, but I was hesitant bc I hadn't heard much about it. Now that it's been given your stamp of approval I will go ahead and purchase!

I've just started Godmersham Park and it is AMAZING. I adore Reputation; maybe I should add that I did work at the publisher when it was in development and did some editorial work on it, so maybe I'm biased, but it's a fantastic book and was an utter joy to work on.

I have a crazy project for this month to try and read through all of Jane Austen's main novels. I'm not going to force it if I get burnt out, but, I have a feeling that I will not get tired of JA's writing and will be able to enjoy her books almost back to back. That's still a lot of books though, so I'm trying to keep my picks for the Jane Austen July prompts nice and light. I will be joining along with the Lady Susan readalong, and for non-fiction I took you recommendation for What Matters in Jane Austen? It sounds really interesting. For the historical fiction, I'm going with Reputation. I'd heard of it before and thought it sounded great, but your recommendation cinched it. For the contemporary read I'll be doing another rec from you, the play Lover's Vows. I guess as a sort of bonus book, earlier this year I came across this silly but fun book of cocktail recipes inspired by the the novels as well as drinks popular in JA's time. There are recipes for every one of her books, so I'll be picking one to pair with each book. It's gonna be a really fun month, lol.

I'll participate. This will be my first time reading Jane Austen--although I do own a complete set of her fiction.
I'm cheating, though: I began Pride and Prejudice the other day (on your suggestion); and will read Longbourn afterwards; and expect I will watch the 2005 film (again) afterwards to compare that screen adaptation to the book once familiar with the book.
I'd have like to watch the 1995 tv series, but that's unavailable on my streaming services...so, I'll watch what I can.
Other possibilities include: Death Comes to Pemberley, and Bridget Jones for a modern adaptation.
I may read Wuthering Heights, too. Depends on whether the mood hits me...

I'd love to read the non-fiction book by Byrne, as I love movie adaptations from classics!
This will be my third year participating of Jane Austen July. This year I hope to read Mansfield Park, The Beautiful Cassandra, Frankenstein, The Jane Austen Society, What matters in Jane Austen and some of Eavesdropping on Jane Austen's England (these last two are coming on the mail, they'll be here in a couple of weeks). And I'll be watching Clueless, Sense and Sensibility (1995), Pride and Prejudice (1995) and The Jane Austen Book Club as I do every year. Speaking of that... I didn't like the book at all but I love the movie adaptation. I'd love to hear your review, perhaps I missed something there.

    I am doing the #1962project
to celebrate my sixtieth birthday this year.
To try to do some #JaneAustenJuly
I have taken something from 1962
    which is the Shaw Alphabet
(George Bernard Shaw was interested in spelling reform
and in his will left money for a Shaw Alphabet
to be used to publish "Androcles and the Lion".
The publication took place in 1962.
So I have ordered P&P in Shaw Alphabet -
it is in English but the script used is a novel one.
It will be interesting to improve my reading of the Shaw Alphabet
by reading a full novel with no Roman script in it. LOL

Of your possibilities, I enjoyed Truth Universally Acknowledged and Jane Austen Book Club, altho I agree the movie worked better. Shields' biography was good, with a somewhat sad look at Austen's illness--I think Shields was ill herself at the time of writing. I'd recommend Castle Rackrent--short with some humor. I enjoyed her Belinda and hope to read The Absentee for JA July. I did not get on with Ladies of the House--a DNF for me. One of these months I'll get to Sir Walter--kudos to you for carrying on.
