It was at the turn of the century when my Grandma Miller came down the San Juaquine river from Missouri. It's hard to imagine that when you see how the river flows now. The mighty San Juaquine now harassed by man, controlled by his need to water land that became the cornacopia of everything good to eat The fruit growing capital that feeds the world. And Grandma Miller was the chef who brought it all down to the table she built called The Square Deal Cafe on Herndon and Blackstone Ave. in the earlier years of settlement in Pinedale. I remember the cotton gins, the orchards and gardens that went on forever. And The Sierra Mountains looming in the distance and gigantic logs for habitations delivered by the River that flowed like blood through the veins of my family.
peopleofthecircle The drought that began in 2012 “threw a wrench into the machinery” if you will and delayed the restoration, but all parties kept moving forward. I think it just isn’t sensational news. It is slow and gradual. Doesn’t make for great headlines but is still in motion.
There used to be something called the Porter Cologne act that was supposed to prevent something like this from ever happening. My question is what allowed this to happened because Porter Cologne is supposed to protect fisheries to my understanding .
Now once again, they are talking about raising Shasta Dam as a way to get more water for everyone. BUT if you look at the whole plan, it only goes to L.A.. Also you have to have the snow pack as well. As a resident of Shasta County, I know there are a few times were we have seen the lake full enough to get to see it released. So stay away D.W.R.
What?? Trump cannot change anything in California, I wish he could but no, not happening, mis Harris will make things worse, just my personal take on your comment. The big valley here in California is at least 75 percent ag and 25 percent homes and industry to process ag, nothing is going to change that, untill the whole thing crashes, nothing will change that, I wish I was wrong.
Hydropower and agriculture are pretty great. However, electricity means modernity and economic prosperity; two things greens do not like. This is why California is less resilient to drought.
@@Jemalacane0 Destruction of eco systems, and destruction of food webs means destruction of any chance of agriculture genius. Figure out how these things are all connected. Bodies of water are not just water in a glass, the beings that live IN the water are connected to the beong that live IN the land, and UP in the air, and ON the land, it gets even smaller than decomposers. Take a simple Environmental Biology class. Eco system destruction = eventual destruction of regional agriculture
PS: "Greens" are the ones who have been harping about making new industry based on securing energy from the damn sun! That is more modern and more industrious.

California needs to limit the people living there or live with the Dams!

Simply no, prosperity and modernity have to be balanced with nature. And that is it what greens want, nothing else.
Quality of life is just that.
@@obiwahndagobah9543 Prosperity and modernity absolutely do not have to be balanced with nature. That's rather the antithesis of modernity.
