This just brought laughter instantly into the room. I saw this live first in 1964 and have great memories, but the humour here is total amazing. Just laugh and redefine ha, ha, ha. Amazing.
I adore this version, my absolute favourite. You can't help but smile. I also enjoyed Amelia Farrugia in the 1997 production. But this one holds a special place in my heart and memory!
Not at all easy to carry off with such aplomb. . . But Monique Brynnel infects us all. If she doesn't ensnare us with her sense of fun, then she catches us with her acting, or is it the music, or is it her infectious laughter.... Well done!
Perfect! I was laughing along with her at his foolishness. Most other sopranos make this aria a bit too dramatic and drawn out. This whole opera is meant to be funny and light. I also like Carla Maffioletti's version but this one is my favorite!
Because of the strange situation we experiencing due to "Corona" we're able to focus on things we've hidden in a big "tomorrowdoings"-pile. This is one of my postponed doings - "Answering comments" - Here we go: "To all of you, please excuse my delayed response regarding your 'ardent' and kind comments. Thank You so much! Your wordings warmed my heart! Really!"
wonderful performance
I've watched this dozens of times. Ms. Brynell makes me laugh every time. I'm sure Johann would love her performance.
