Looks like on the same day he realised he does not need a dragon, but decided on presenting anyway. That's why he did not take a sh** from them, like most of other contestants. His attitude is not bad, but it is more on equal terms, which is stark contrast to what we usually see there.
He had already got investment from two other industry players so yeah he really didn’t need a dragon at this point. The only value he probably got for appearing was publicity.
I bet the the investors he got was recent and he was booked to appear months or years in advance before the investors were onboard.
