Great stuff, Jim is kicking it on Bass!
Took my son to his first Jazz club last year, and we saw George Coleman. A true musical blessing. Thank you for the post.
Incredibly wonderful to come across this documentary - so revealing the personalities and musicality of these giants of jazz … ( though it would be great if the director & creatives credits etc could also be acknowledged below with musician credits).
Ahmad Jamal un pianiste Puissant & modeste , paix à son âme !!!
My first vinyl (33 1/3 rpm) was Ahmad Jamal’s “At The Pershing”, favorite piece “Poinciana”, sounds as good today as when I bought in (about) 1960. He’e as good now as ever.
Doen't anybody hear that they're playing "The Nearness of You"? C'mon ya'll. Listen! At the sound check, the ballad they were playing was "Polka Dots and Moonbeams".
This rendition of My Foolish Hart is a masterpiece! Geniuses
Articulate master of the art
Thank you for sharing! Please upload other ahmad jamal concert video if you can. Have a good day.
Thanks, I will. Have a nice evening
From what we understand, using Google's translation service, the French to English version looks like this:
- If i heard Beethoven, i played Beethoven
- If i heard Duke Ellington, i was playing Duke Ellington
- If I heard Art Tatum...I played everything I heard
- Maybe not very well. But, the I was playing
- Then my mother made me take private lessons
- It was she who allowed me to start musical studies
- It is thanks to her that I became a musician
- I am here thanks to my mother
- At the age of 11. I was already old! 2:15 to 2:47
This upload will be forever appreciated!
Muchas gracias, ebjazz93.., Muy elegante.
Fabulous.
Extraordinary. A natural talent. Ahmad Jamal started advanced and sophisticated, at the top: Ludwig van Beethoven; Edward Kennedy "Duke" Ellington and Arthur Tatum Jr! 42:35

Song title graphic has the live numbers reversed. "My Foolish Heart" is an absolute classic!
アーマッドジャマルのピアノの音は、何時もスリリングに感じます。メンバーとの掛け合いがとても緊張してます。私の大好きなピアニストです。❤🎉
👏👏
"Swahli land" is wrong, correctly "There's a Lull in My Life"
Yeh sounds good tho ?
Anybody know the name of the tune they're playing in the soundcheck at 2:46? I'm sure I've heard it before but I can't place it.
Just remembered, it's Frank's Tune
