Well, it seems like, after 5 years of the absolute art block, I have to pick up the pencil again: the magnum opus of my life must be done

However, there's also some details which I want to point out. Maybe they worth to be discussed.
I find it quite obvious that Ratio has... some kind of emotional deviations. I don't want to say that he's ill, but he's certainly confused when it comes to empathy. (That does not means that he's a psycho!) That's normal when you're a bit "too smart", and things, which you find obvious are beyond of comprehension for others. You will be a bit confused by that fact and question yourself about “what is going on in their strange[sic!] heads?”. All this was just to say that his actions shouldn't be taken literally, cause his feelings might differ and sometimes he's simply unaware of the reaction of others. However we could spot when he's truly interested in something (in this he is very similar to Herta).
1) So, considering the fact that later Ratio was spotted by March 7th on the auction, and that in the dialogue he was asking about the corner stone, I think he's actively trying to bring it back. He was just too worried to wait for Aventurine to finish his speech or (most likely) have got an idea how to find it.
I'm betting on that Ratio is kind of worried for his "colleague" and left only because was sure that Aventurine was going to struggle without his corner stone, but hid it (as he always did). So at that point I was laughing: "someone's going to rescue their princess. Too bad the princess doesn't know." 🤣
2) I may be wrong about it. It's EXTREMELY debatable, but I just want to bring it up: Ratio might be not really racist when he was saying all these sigonian "jokes".
That really depends on the area, the company, and the time where you are. I don't think it's a big revelation that close friends could use crude enough epithets to address each other. In some areas it's more spread and could be used to show someone that you'd like to be their friend.
Yes, that's a controversial statement, but I really think that Ratio was just trying to be "on the same wave" with Aventurine, but failed (mostly, cause Aventurine is not expecting anything good from others, but also cause Ratio wasn't aware of his past).

I completely agree with the all of the points you made! The first point you mentioned about him being confused to empathy and how people may react to things he says or how he acts and how others see him reminds me of my Dr Ratio being on the autism spectrum with not being aware of how people might react to things he might say (though that’s mostly because I’m thinking about getting an autism test for myself lately and I kinda see a lot of myself in Ratio), and being able to tell when he’s interested in something is another piece of evidence :3
The 1) point is so sweet to think about, and also it makes the scene of Aventurine feeling sad that Ratio left in a hurry even better bc he might think Ratio is getting sick of him when in reality, he cares about Aventurine a lot 🥺
I can definitely see the last point as being plausible! It’s definitely a nicer way of thinking about Dr Ratio’s lines and I enjoy it a lot. Thanks for giving me this perspective! (Also, thank you for reminding me to touch grass)
