I hated those things when I was in elementary school. It was always the worst feeling getting a clip down in school literally every day. My teachers really never liked me though for some reason. 🤦🏻♂️
HOLD ON.. that’s the EXACT same behavior chart my kindergarten teacher used!! Every single time when I was told to move my clip down or if the teacher never told me if it was to move it up or down, I would always begin crying. I still remember the one day that I moved my clip down to orange because I was accused of something I didn’t even do and I sat up during nap time 😭
Lecturer here, may return to Elementary soon (I miss it). For some reason, I've enjoyed the years I spent teaching small kiddos a lot more than I enjoyed lecturing 20-30+ year olds about the Treaty of Versailles and WW2. Never thought I'd say that. Great content, keep it up.
Never take recess from a child . As a teacher , there are other way to utilize yellow and red. No recess is holding in energy which can make behaviors worse . If you let them run free at recess there is a chance for those children to move back up. Never take recess here where I live it’s against the law to take a child’s play or recess away
Hello everyone! Some of you have pointed out that this clip chart system has some shortcomings and I have evolved since I made this video and I agree with you! Here is my updated plan for 2020. Check out this video instead! ua-cam.com/video/kRFIyexcGkI/v-deo.html
here in South Africa, unless you're in a private school, you're dealing with about 40 children in the class. I wonder if this would still work? a lot of pegs and a lot of monitoring - making sure you don't leave people out...I think that'll be quite challenging ensuring that everyone gets a chance to clip up (provided they have behaviour which warrants clipping up) and you don't miss anyone out.
Check out Conscious Discipline for a new way of teaching instead of punishing! I can't make good choices if I don't feel safe or have had trauma. This is not helpful this is a visual you are better than me and I feel bad and low self-esteem
NO. I HAVE THIS IN MY SCHOOL (K-3rd grade) and kids come out of school CRYING. LITERALLY CRYING BECAUSE OF THOSE STUPID PIECES OF PAPER!!!! NEVER USE THESE THINGS! NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember my class had that, i remember i never had any bad behavior just because of the chart, and it is around 3rd grade, so maybe its just for a couple schools, since i seen almost the same comment on another behavior chart video.
We never want the children to cry, but sometimes if that's what it takes for them to get the message that they're making bad choices and need to fix it, then they probably need to cry over their poor behavioral choices.
This is just baseless speculation, but do you think that the purple and pink as the good colors imply gender behavior associations? Like maybe the boys might feel self conscious about having to put their identity marker on the purple and pink.
+Kyle Hohn Simply put , any colors that are on the higher end of the behavior clip chart are the good colors on a behavior clip chart . If it is so bad to boys for her to have pink as the highest card of her clip chart then the color pink is also tied to Valentine's Day and that is for everyone .
How do i hang up my handmade clip chart and what do i need bc i have tape and a clipboard and im planning to put it up on the wall with the materials i have
I’m planning on trying this with my class this year. I teach kindergarten and every year I have issues with classroom control. I’ve tried star charts for individual behavior, the bean jar for class behavior but by the end of the year I’m worn out because it loses its effectiveness. Any tips on how I can better manage my class?
You can use the clip system and that should scare them if they do bad. One thing my kindergarten teacher did was give candy out to outstanding students (pink) so that should motivate them to get to pink. She would also make me sit out half of recess if I got a warning
@@shogun2321 thank you! I’ve been doing the clip up/down system and omg it is working. Still using star charts as the daily reward for behaving according to the clip chart. Another thing I’m using are class callbacks which is working out well too. Still all of this is a work in progress and praying it still works the entire year!
what is only one thing because it's vibrating and because he has to touch bases so he couldn't it was boring but I was in class until 2 cuz he is not ever do something when I'm saying because you talking about to go see him as he was over there and he's not listening to me so why so why is my physical and his friends to know he is student so she asked me to do something so we asked I answered
Seems a really great idea! m gonna try it for my class thanks a lot i have been making a lots of encouragement charts but this one looks new and interesting!!

I rarely ever got blue or anything above when I was in elementary lol

Oh my god! This is the exact same chart my 1st grade teacher uses, so much nostalgia...

@@beautyhacks5354 SAME!!1 :):
No matter how you explain it it’s public shaming for the children who may be having a bad bad or a bad at home situation.
What some teachers do is when the kid is in super student and they tell the kid to clip up, they put the clip on the teachers shirt and than hair
I always broke down and balled when I had to change my colors Fucking anxiety changing my color
Same lol
I remember when it was the end of the day then I had to move it to yellow at the last minute. I tore that shit down and stomped on it

what if they've reached outstanding? do they restart at ready to learn?
The ready to learn is the baseline which is a goal and the goal mostly is to be at or above the ready to learn.
wut hapins if you hafto clip up to the pink

Your word is so satisfying in my school has that
what is only one thing because it's vibrating and because he has to touch bases so he couldn't it was boring but I was in class until 2 cuz he is not ever do something when I'm saying because you talking about to go see him as he was over there and he's not listening to me so why so why is my physical and his friends to know he is student so she asked me to do something so we asked I answered
it was hilarious whenever a kid would cry over these lol
Nah I'm so Lucky i clip up to pink i am 9 yrs old😊
What could be another punishment besides losing their recess?
None as they are humans sent to school against their will.
Many lessons are an insult to both the taxpayer and the child.
Yikes. Hoping you're not still using this in your classroom.
Positive conceaquince ? = Kid you are intruble for being good that's what i think of it
you are awesome!! Thank you for this video x

Seems a really great idea!
m gonna try it for my class
thanks a lot
i have been making a lots of encouragement charts but this one looks new and interesting!!
Your awesome!!!!!
at 0:44 I thought you were standing and extremely small.
So you are promoting shaming and public humiliation as a way to get good behavior. That sounds awful and traumatic
I know I will hate it. And if my children's class has this, I will talk to the teacher or head of school.
Eww 0:09
I hate clip down i dont want to go to school this is the end😢😠👎
