Possibly the single most useful video I've ever watched on UA-cam.

This video is so helpful - thank you!!! My bathtub faucets are always leaking and I constantly have to replace the washers. I finally bought good washers from home depot and watched your video before doing the work. I didn't know you had to tighten the packing nut to prevent the water from leaking out of the handle! I have not replaced the seats yet but that will be my next step.

Thanks. Your video helped me out today to replace old Gerber faucets in a shower. I was able to remove the seats. I had to cut off both H and C handles because I just couldn't get them separated from the stem. On one I couldn't even get the screw out. Only 2 trips to Home Depot, lol.

Very helpful. Think I’m dealing with original plumbing from the 70s. First seat came out fine with the tools, 2nd(hot water) was already so corroded it looked rounded. Tried the screw driver a couple times and it wouldn’t catch. Decided to give it 5 solid taps with a hammer and was able to get it turning. I thought this was the end for this DIY, it wasn’t. Thanks for the help!

That's an Oldie but Goodie.Tim,i remember that book in one of your UA-cam videos a few years ago.i called that number, and some guy told me they only give them out to major plumbing business's. i thought that was arrogant of him.that's a must book to have though.LIKE.

Hey Chuck, do you know if the whole valve body gets replaced in the gerber style 3 handle systems, or if you ever replaced one? I repaired the seat and OEM valve on the cold side twice and it still leaks out of the spout. I give up. My house is from the late 50s-60s and I think this is the original valve body since then. - Thank you

I am having trouble getting the seat in properly with a Pfister stem, and not getting a good seal with washer. I want to switch to ceramic. I want to use Gerber ceramic stem. Will that Gerber work with the pipe in the wall without a stem?

Thanks for this video. It was very helpful seeing how this came apart and went back together. I found that you can use a 7/8" socket to remove the valve, a 3/4" socket or wrench on the packing nut, and the seat can be removed and installed with a 1/4" drive extension with no socket on the end. Despite replacing the seat and the valve, I found I still could not get the water to turn off completely. One time the screw that holds the washer onto the end of the valve backed itself out so the washer was nearly falling off. A second time I screwed the screw that holds the washer on very tight, but this deformed the washer and it did not seat properly and leaked. Despite correcting these things, I find I still need to turn the handle as hard as I can clockwise and the water still barely drips a bit, even with the new valve, new washer, and new seat. I don't know what else to try here. If you have a suggestion as to what else might be wrong here please let me know, I'd appreciate it.

Question for old Gerber 3 valve shower/tub faucet... dealing with leak, purchase the correct faucet rebulider kit but unfortunately the back seats were all rusted stripped in that no Allen wrench was able to GRIP it to take it out. i Did not have a extractor tool so used a "faucet reseating tool" (manually) to recreate a new surface (as close to smooth as I could). Leak is significantly reduced however it still leaks. Would you suggest getting a actual seat EXTRACTOR to once again try pulling it out of there? Or just replace the entire shower valve in the back wall??
