Hey, glad to see an actually well-constructed Sythis list featured on a cEDH channel :) Gotta say Staff of Domination is a definite cut, though. It's unnecessary as a wincon, as there are multiple outlets in the list already - Seedcradle Witch and Blind Obedience being two of the most straightforward ones. It's also shut off by our most important stax effect. As for opening hands: I think that second seven was a trap. In a midrangier pod I might be tempted to Invasion for Argothian Enchantress (*pre*-Sythis for the extra draw) and see if I can start drawing. But in this pod Ouphe was clearly the call, which means the hand kinda starts depending on lucky topdecks. (Also I would've hella Chorded for Elesh over Linvala.) Anyway, very cool to see Sythis in action - hope to see her featured more often :)
as a fellow sythis player, i think its easy to get trapped by a hand that has mana and a super strong stax effect, but with no actual enchantments to draw from the deck stagnates real hard. It doesn't get to put nice things on board that just constantly draw for you, like a rhystic for example
@@RichShivener if it helps, i primarily go for Sanctum Weaver/Seedcradle for inf mana which can be fed into Flickering Ward/Whip Silk for inf draw and then you can just cast over and over with blind obedience to extort. You can Chord for Elesh norn which would have been real nice this game cos bowmaster is your worst nightmare. There's also the Cloudstone Curio + Nature's Chosen loop which is kinda for the same effect.
@@fnx.M you're right, just in the incident that they have blockers or you only have those two creatures or something, or they have removal for your creatures etc.
@@cedhtvgameplay3974 guessing Aminatou, Bolas and Oath of Teferi? I'm also running Sisay and even if it hasn't happened yet, I think once my playgroup figures out that Derevi/Emiel are the key pieces to the combo, I'll have a hard time.
Once Bowmasters was out Rowan could have dockside preemptively while waiting for bow triggers to kill ouphe, then ad naus instant speed. Or wait and peer to kill someone with Bowmasters. I felt like he could have done more and not just hold dockside and wait for others.
I believe you should have mindbreak trapped the ikoria battle, as x = 2 in green white is very very often just ouphe, especially after he saw the turn 1 malcolm and mana vault
Kinda surprised Mons didn't go for the turn 1 Kinnan. It's a tad greedy getting rid of the only interaction and obviously with the early ouphe it would have been slowed down, but the hand was all-in on dockside so I thought he would go for it.
He didn't have the mana for it since his land was a filter land, and could only tap for red black Still not quite sure why he plays those lands in the first place though lol
@@cedhtvgameplay3974 Where do you generate a lot of colorless that you would need into colored? It just seems like there are enough colored sources specifically that it would be easier to just run some consistency. Recency bias of course and you know the deck better I've just been curious as to the success rate on the game plan since I don't see a ton of other filter lands in Sisay decks
as a fellow metal enjoyer I thought of you when I saw the metal secret lair. that tevesh szat is awesome I'm getting and making a casual Rakdos good stuff and partner him with jeskai to have 2 planeswalkers in command zone
Out of interest, why didn't the Sythis player start swinging Apex at Death to try to force him to block with Bowmasters? The bowmasters absolutely crushes sythis and is the absolute scariest thing on board vs her. I could be wrong or missing something but i'd be trying to hard pressure him to block with his army/bowmasters before it gets too big to swing into
He was attacking the bowmaster player. Just coulden't swing with all his creatures. He did attack with his big creature. The orc army would just kill the smaller ones.
You guys are great, but I’d really love to see a 6-month moratorium on Thassa’s Oracle decks. Just sad to see so many games devolve into who can stop the player from casting thoracle…so many formats would be better if that card never existed.
I gotta be honest, I’m really starting to dislike bowmasters, it’s in every single black deck (rightfully) and is so game warping. No hate on you guys running it, just a crazy card design imo
What do you expect? Should CEDH Players skip the card because you don’t like it? Nah that won’t happen. I hate how master too and unfortunately it’s head to stay RIP
@@j2c695 did you even read the comment? I don't have a problem with them running it ...i even literally typed 'no hate on you guys for running it' ...the card is just poorly designed
another reason the card is disgusting, crushes strategies that were already suffering. Green relies heavily on dorks and is probably the weakest cedh colour, and bowmasters shuts off its dorks, and a lot of its stax pieces are snipable with it too. Disgusting card
Love seeing Rowan content
100%, currently building my own, but no cEDH lol. Always fun to see more and more of her decks.
I’m just now getting ready to bring her to my play group, super excited

Well said, you two. I’ll keep tinkering! I haven’t played stax in a hot minute and the commander is growing on me (man, I’m clever).

I see Veil of Death MTG and I slam that like button!
Don't boost his ego to much. But yeah he will like that.
Pontus is great as always 🎉🎉
Helluva game. keep up the excellent commentary and cedh content Mons
Thank you ggangulo.
Lesson learned, Mons!
One day I will learn.
@@cedhtvgameplay3974 oh I meant it as I learned the lesson behind the aggressive mulling, since I asked about it a couple of weeks ago
Mons can Sisay combo if Derevi and Emiel are exiled?
Not in this version. I have had some other possible combos in other sisay versions.

Everyone else had more mana and I did not want to unlock em
What a crazy game.
It sure was.

ok damn that was such bad game for Rowan :dd
yeah ... sad.
I believe you should have mindbreak trapped the ikoria battle, as x = 2 in green white is very very often just ouphe, especially after he saw the turn 1 malcolm and mana vault
That was only the second spell of the turn so he couldn't cast trap for free
i saw sythis and started foaming at the mouth
Lol why was Rhetoric burning himself w/ Mana Confluence when his Yavimaya Cradle made it a forest?

Cant rowan win the same way zur does. Shimmer myr, necro instant speed end step wins?
if you build it that way

Play gitrog to get thru heavy stacks.
ouphe does not kill oppo is you take 5, since the damage is dealt to you rather than oppo
That's if Rhetoric uses the effect. Presumably he wouldn't, as 2 damage isn't worth keeping the Opposition agent around.
