No, it is quite quick to assemble; certainly less than five minutes from removal from carry bag to airborne. It depends on wind variability, but yes it is a steady flier. I find it best above 8mph plus. If in a variable wind you can find it has an interesting trait of flapping each wing alternately, but still stays aloft well due to its surface area.
