Micro transmitters could transmit to beacons on the GSM network (phones). The system wouldn't have to return to home as that would be wasting a lot of power. Better to get as much surveillance out of the little beast and when it runs out of power, it'll crash and self ignite. Alternatively, the receiver would be within a few miles that would have a helix antenna for long range reception (10Km etc).
digitalbroadcaster What a great military strategy! Install GSM towers and cell phone base station buildings around the enemy location before spying on them! Alternatively, we can place a 50 pound Lithium Ion battery on that little sucka so it can transmit 10 km!
"Each one costs tens of thousands of dollars" Yeah, if you sell to the military you can charge tens of thousands of dollars :) Since I build stuff like this I know how cheaply they can be made.
do you know how much money is poured into developing the $5 optical mouse that we can get on ebay these days? Do you know how much money 3M used to develop the sticky note which only costs you a few bucks for a 100 of them? Making something never exist before and bring it into reality is gold. Well... despite of the fact that if the design will be profitable and become popular or not. Not to mention aerodynamic is hard. Aerodynamic is hard math and engineering.... the "worst" kind of engineering....
Well, low volume production and r&d mockups will cost more on paper. Think how much the first iPhone before they went into production cost. All of the development time for iOS, the touch screen, camera, battery, processor etc would be lumped into that single unit. Mass producing them though after all of that is setup means 50 bucks a pop. I'm fairly certain the negotiated price to keep them out of the hands of the enemy also has something to do with their inflated value. Force the enemy to develop their own by keeping the price artificially high. It's a tactic, not an abuse.
other than its large range ... i dont know why it costs so much. even so, 10K is way to much to develop such a thing. put in consideration that a lot of tiny helis are sold out there.
Most drones don't come with night vision, thermal imaging, have secure communication links, etc. they do more than shot video and take pictures. They are not toys.
rainbowsixODST You can get thermal imaging for about $200. Once the market reaches, the chinese makers will make ir imaging a basic functionality of toy drones. Secure communication is also basically encryption and path issue which the Chinese are well capable of. Norway has no technology and cannot even make ships. Europe does not have advanced communication technology and is getting economy aid in such from Korea.
Yup right, Norway cant build ships, they must be the worlds worst shipmaker. www.km.kongsberg.com/ks/web/nokbg0238.nsf/AllWeb/98A8C576AEFC85AFC125811A0037F6C4?OpenDocument
Wow! Since this is so easy and cheap why are there no videos posted here from you idiots that think you can build one of these for less than a $100? I don't understand how you think this is a toy. Yes you can buy rc heli's with gyro's on the cheap.....but guess what, they are basically garbage. So good luck following this one on the trip he demonstrated. Decent hobbygrade rc helis can cost up to $1000 and the real good ones can easily hit ten grand and take many man hours to build. There are none with these capabilities this tiny. A run of the mill gps unit is $300 and 3 times the size of that pd-100. A lithium polymer battery small enough to fit in there and power all the systems for this thing would be at least $200 alone. In the RC FPV world, something that fly's that far on a gps auto fn pilot costs minimum 4 figures and they are HUGE compared to this little guy.
I think its auto pilot might be an issue in a jungle environment or an urban environment, then the user might have to manually return the drone to base, which could be a pain in the ass when going through/around obstacles.
I didn't see a target hiding on top of the cliff. I saw one out in the open looking up. But at 3:59, any one of those trees would have sufficiently hidden any person.
This is well within the capabilities of Chinese drone makers. We might see similar or even better things available for maybe $200-$300 or so on Aliexpress in the near future if those makers find a market potential.
1:29 Fuck I forgot to put ear protection in my right ear. Oh well I ruptured the eardrum anyway so cant hear shit but I just put my finger in my ear so it seemed as I held it there the entire time, no one saw that I didnt..
Imagine a team of search and rescue people using a half dozen larger versions of these to scour a valley for missing hikers. They could search the whole area in minutes without leaving the vehicle area. When the hikers are spotted, the team heads in the proper direction to make the rescue. The camera resolution would need to be increased to provide much better video, and bigger batteries for longer flight time. It needs to be more quiet if used for surveillance. How about a larger 5 bladed rotor with better blade design to make it silent?
I love how they add helicopter buzzing sounds even though the thing is so quiet you can’t even hear it from two feet away

This heli had thermal vision and night vision and many good things...like weather proof, you can takeoff even it’s raining,,and had GPS,,you can fly within 1.8KM for distance I mean,,able to fly within 8-12KNT
10k USD ! :D
now you can buy smt like this for 100 USD :D
China... you did it again...
Curious about THAT battery tech. And what, ocusync 8.0? :p
Tens of thousands of dollars/pounds/currency?!!! Ridiculous amount of money for just a 'model' with a camera and GPS!
They probably take in to accaunt the development costs as well
*****
perhaps they should have spent some of those "costs" on a better camera, you can get 7 quid key ring cams giving better footage lol
Ah, but they do use portable GSM systems to monitor GSM traffic. Encoding and encrypting a video codec to send in packets would be easy enough.
Excellent videos bro
$195, 000.00????
Looks like it uses coils/magnets for the cyclic control?
"Each one costs tens of thousands of dollars"
Yeah, if you sell to the military you can charge tens of thousands of dollars :) Since I build stuff like this I know how cheaply they can be made.
I can't imagine the battery life is that long. Probably uses a capacitor to hold a charge like the kids toys. An amazing design though
why the fuck does it costs 10s of thousands of dollars?
do you know how much money is poured into developing the $5 optical mouse that we can get on ebay these days?
Really liked this video its just awesome. Cheers from Sint Maarten
Tens of thousands of dollars for what cost less than $100 to make, another way to waste tax payers money.
+Iyke Gbench We all know why.

So the top speed is 6.2 miles and then what it stops. 20 clicks is a distance not a speed.
Don't use logic and reason on UA-cam!
Ya I know, I forgot...lol
The propellers should be designed in a way to reduce turbulence
I think its auto pilot might be an issue in a jungle environment or an urban environment, then the user might have to manually return the drone to base, which could be a pain in the ass when going through/around obstacles.
I didn't see a target hiding on top of the cliff. I saw one out in the open looking up. But at 3:59, any one of those trees would have sufficiently hidden any person.
I wonder what the battery is made of and how big, current draw must be high?
I wonder if this has gimbal on it
are you sure that video quality is enough to use in real battle
No surprise its Swiss -- experts at nano design. They've been nanoengineering complex luxury watches for years
Now you can see Nano object with your eyes thats must be a miracle
That's amazing,it shows dreams can make it into reality,as long as you apply yourself,. Thanks for sharing this with me.
how does it fly outside with this little size without the wind blowing it away...?
I saw a few drones going 20 miles for a price of $800 with GPS, better cams etc
wow!
direct brushless motor gear?
fixed pitch? %)
Now this is a drone. A vehical capable of fully autonomous operation. Yet some people call every multi rotor on the market a drone.
It needs thermal imaging , and a nice camo
This is well within the capabilities of Chinese drone makers. We might see similar or even better things available for maybe $200-$300 or so on Aliexpress in the near future if those makers find a market potential.
''spycam'' makes more noise than hell itself
Seen a few DIY projects just as good for few dollars, imagine when nano technology is used
