The date for the tram to start again from Denia is January 16th! So a bus will no longer have to be taken from Gata de Gorgos to Denia to finish the route.

Made the trip from Oliva to Alicante last week (May 3). Taking the tram from Denia... ticket was 3,90 euros. Denia to Benidorm was great. Plenty of room on the tram. One change at Teulada, straight onto a tram which was waiting. Views going down to Benidorm were nothing less than spectacular. Chance to visit the loo in Beni (exit by the auto gates from the platform to reach), as you may have to wait a while for connection to Alicante. There's also a small bar-cafe here.
... Then it went downhill. Tram was packed solid from Benidorm. Tbf, a lot of the passengers got off at the stations actually local to Benidorm... only to be replaced by a school load of kids getting on a couple of stops further down the line, who stayed on all the way to Alicante... bad timing. I can imagine it being a bit of a pain in high summer. The trams are only 3 small carriages, and the seats are solid and uncomfortable.
Alicante was great. Stayed a couple of nights, and will definitely return for a longer stay. I've been a Torremolinos fanboy for a while, but Alicante topped it by a distance for night life, shopping, eating, and beaches... I stayed in an apartment just off Playa Postiguet, which was gorgeous
Decided to get the Alsa bus directly back to Oliva rather than risk another overcrowded tram trip... very comfortable

@@travelbyplanestrainsandcruise nothing much has changed, other than when last travelled on the train some 40+ years ago farmers working in the fields used to wave the train to stop, and sometimes loading a goat or two. And I've forgotten if the 22 pesetas was for the return journey. Alicante was 21 pesetas.

@@travelbyplanestrainsandcruise The farmers referenced were going home for lunch etc. Years ago most people lived in villages, for protection, but owned land in the Campo. As an example of this most Polopians still own land. When the pirates etc came pillaging the villagers within the village took refuge in the castle, the farmers could head for the hills.
An example which will highlight this fact is that 800+ mainly children, women and elderly men villagers were slaughtered, during the period of change to Christianity.

@@travelbyplanestrainsandcruise another matter of interest El Cid slept in the village the night before his famous Valencia battle.
Also in the cliff face below the castle there is a cave which you can still access, he stole the treasure that the Moors stored there.

Thank you for this great video. All the mountains you see have names. Maite our friend from Pedreguer knows All the Mountains by Name. 🙂. At the end you see the Montgo. Our house is on the other side with seaview from Valencia to Ibiza. Since 1972. Denia had a rail connection to Gandia also. Our friend Lola from Els Poblets went to school to Dénia by that train. some 50 years ago. Maybe they can restore the Rail Connection Dénia Gandia. again. That would be a nice Project. Train is Awsome. Especially this One. I hope you enjoyed your Ride. And waiting for your next surprise video. Las Rotas Walk is nice. Beautiful Rocky Seaview and impressive Houses. And Carretera Colonia on the Montgo makes you an impressive video. Start at Pare Père and at the end view Ibiza from the Montgo.👍🙂 I come to Denia 50 years now. I❤️ Dénia

There has been talk of re-establishing the link between Gandia and Denia, almost certainly a continuation of the tram. A completion date of 2029 has been touted, but as with all transportation plans in Spain, I won't be holding my breath 😉
I live in Oliva btw, which is a bit of a backwater in transport terms, and connection to Gandia and Denia would be a huge plus to quality of life

Can you get on/off the tram using the same ticket on a journey say from A to D but get off at B & C to look around or would you have to buy a ticket of A - B then B - C and so on? Great video by the way, was in the area a few days ago and want to return.

You would have to buy another ticket at the time of travel as this is on the journey ticket and there is a barrier at Benidorm but I have seen locals get on and of before Benidorm, Station which is Benidorm intermodal and has no barrier🙈😉 I hope this helps and have myself got of at albir from Gata and then back on to Benidorm intermodal Spanish are laid back people enjoy your trip 👍

Taking the tram from Denia down to Alicante next week with a couple of friends, specifically for the views. Thanks for the info overlays. Can you tell me if the tram has toilet facilities?

Hello, and thanks for the comments, I am sure its a journey you will be glad you took. Strangely, there is no toilet facilities on these trams,Only toilet facilities in the main station's such as Benidorm, tram station before you go on the journey near the station cafe. Also I would advise to get on early and sit on the right hand side of the train for the best views so the Station and ticket barrier at Benidorm, would be to your right when your are sitting looking out the window.Enjoy your trip 👍

@@travelbyplanestrainsandcruise Yes, I remember when we visited Spain in 2018 we got a senior's card "Tarjeta Dorada" - Gold card at the Renfe train station in Madrid, and received senior rates using the Renfe trains as well as the ALSA buses. The "Tarjeta Dorada" basically identifies you as a senior, and it covers some hotels and restaurants to get discounts. To get the card you present your passport - since we were not EU citizens and they issued us the card.
