Alamat is a multilingual and multiethnic boy band that sings in 7 Filipino languages 1. Tagalog 2. Bisaya (in cebuano and mindanaon dialects) 3. Hiligaynon 4. Ilocano 5. Kapampangan 6. Waray waray 7. Bikolano
Just a correction, Gami speaks the Boholano dialect of the Bisaya language, not Cebuano. Boholano is distinctly different from Cebuano because of features like changing the y sound to j (I speak the Boholano dialect of the language too and we say ijay instead of iyay, pujo instead of puyo, etc.) and changing l to w (for example, we say suwat instead of sulat, panuway instead of panulay, etc.).
*And btw, Waray-waray is the 5th most-widely-used language in the country- just a bit behind Hiligaynon, in case none of you here knows. I stan a reactor getting the concept of what he is reacting to. Yes you’re right! “ Alamat” which means “Legend” in english. Alamat living their name as story tellers of the past. They are using their platform in stating legends which is actually a unique concept. I love the fact that they are representing the Philippines so well when it comes to the culture, history telling and showcasing the traditional outfits. Oh! BTW they are also a Multilingual group. I believe they used 5-7 different main languages of the Philippines including Tagalog. (cause we have 100+ different languages/dialect). So believe me when I say that even us Filipinos need subtitle for their songs cause we can’t understand everything. The reference from this MV is specifically from the St. Lois World Fair 1904 and that’s a fact. Their debut song was called “K bye”. Hope you can react to it too. It's also analogous to we Filipinos, as a nation, is so enchanted with the "White American Dream".
