Love your vlogs, been coming for years,we are looking forward to be back for 12 days in 2 weeks, can’t wait to see Carl White, THE best singer on the island, in Costa teguise xx
Hi Mike thanks for your work with these Vlogs. We flew in last night and landed around 8.10pm and unfortunately the border entry system left a lot to be desired . The Machines were incredible slow and temperamental with just a single member of staff having to manage things . It was only the good nature of MOST holiday makers that kept the situation under control. It's our 15th consecutive year and this time was by far the most frustrating at the airport.
Thanks as always for the news and updates. You are right about the new signage on the pedestrian crossings in Costa Teguise. I doubt if they will make much difference. One of the biggest problems from experience is that drivers (locals and tourists) disregard the speed limits on the roads especially in the built up areas. This combined with people randomly walking out onto crossings and the lack of visibility is a real problem.
Great informative video once again, thsnk you for all your efforts. Do you know if a VV will be required for a glamping or camping site , I can't seem to find any information in the new draft or previous/current rules, Keep up the good work
Thank you Mandy and Andy. A licence is required for anywhere offering accommodation to tourists, but there are different types - a VV, for example, is for individual apartments and villas, but there are other types of touristic licence, which would apply to campsites, hotels etc. I’d suggest speaking to a lawyer to understand exactly what you need.
Thank you Mike. Your programmes are very interesting. My gripe in Costa Teguise with the roads here, the pedestrian crossings are so close to the islands. The new shopping centre in Costa Teguise is no good to people without a car. It's easier for me to get the bus to Lidl or open Mall. I loved visiting El Islote de Fermina but why are the swimming pools not open? I asked the staff there and no-one knew. It's been open over a year now with a nice coffee shop and museum.
I think the same is true of most out of town shopping areas - they’re perfect for people with cars. One of the reasons the pool at the islote is closed because they are seeking permission from a department called Costas to allow swimming there, but I gather there are other reasons. We’ll update as soon as we know more.
Hey Mike! Thanks for all your interesting reportage. They are very informative and greatful to know about current eventuellt on our beloved island. On a previous occation, you offered help getting in touch with an English-speaking lawyer. We need help with our property upp here in the north. How can we get in touch with you?
Hi Ralf. I can’t help with property issues, I’m afraid. But if you want to get in touch with me, you can do so here: lanzaroteinformation.co.uk/contact-us/
Hi Mike.Just subscribed to your channel.I really enjoy it and find it very informative.I love the island and have been many times from here in Ireland.Nearly always stay in Matagorda and I will be coming solo again in November.I love walking while there but as I have a bad back I need to sit down now and again but unfortunately the seating where you can rest your back has almost all been removed along the prom except the seats outside the Beatriz Playa Hotel.I wonder is there any plans to reinstate them.
Hi Mike, Very informative video as usual. Recently back from Lanzarote and hired a car while there. Couldn’t believe the mileage we got out of one petrol fill! Hoping to go back to Lanzarote again in the second week of December 24, so I have a few crystal ball type questions for you. From your experience is there better value in booking your flight and accommodation in Lanzarote yourself rather than booking through a travel agency? We have always stayed in a hotel in the Matagorda area. Also, generally would it be wiser to book our holiday now or wait closer to December? Thanks again for all your great videos. They have been extremely helpful to us.
Hi Tim. December is one of the busiest months on the island, so I’d advise booking as early as possible. I’d always advise using a travel agency, but I’m biased as we own one! 1/ Your package will be ATOL protected, and the agent will invest time in finding you the best prices for your dates. 2/ The agent will make sure your paperwork, passports etc are correct, do you check in and sort your seats. 3/ They will contact the hotel and try to get you the best room choice for you. But above all, an agent really comes into their own when something goes wrong - a flight cancellation or delay, for example - they’re on hand, and speak your language, to sort things out.
Hi Mike, what are the strange traffic lights all about at the top of the hill just before Las Casitas. They always seem to go red as I approach and then immediately flash amber. Keep up the good work, love the videos.
If you go through the flashing lights at or below the speed limit of 50kph, the red lights will go off before you get to them. If you are over the speed limit, the lights will remain red, forcing you to stop.
Hi Mike, I have only been watching for a few months now, but as ever your information is very informative, clear and very helpful. 👌 the driving pod was 👍 as we just got our hire car and your information was spot on. I have a question for our return home please. I have assistance booked through TUI, when I enter the departure area to check in, is the assistance spot located as we enter the bag check in area? Thank you for your help and we look forward to the next news feed. Best regards, Andy.
Yes, as you enter the departures check in area, look to your right, and the assistance section is there - you can’t miss it, as there are always loads of wheelchairs parked there.
Hi Mike, 👍👍 thank you. We visited Mancha Blanca just now, absolutely beautiful and we watched the race too which was happening today before the festival starts. 👍👍 thank you again sir for your help. 👌🫡🤝 best regards Andy.

Hi Mike, thanks for this. A question and a recommendation. We are booked for Costa Teguise in December, (Grand Teguise Playa), a couple of weeks ago you mentioned a smell, is this something to be concerned about? We needed to use the health centre in Costa Teguise, we took our EHIC but had to provide our passport, which was back at the hotel. Once we’d sorted that the care was first class, the prescription was filled in a pharmacy in CT. Always take your passport if you need to use an EHIC. The EHIC has been renamed GHIC since Brexit and are free from UK NHS, beware the scammers trying to charge you for one.
The smell is in a specific area at the front, and shouldn’t affect you in the hotel. I haven’t noticed it recently. Yes, you should carry your ID at all times here. Note the GHIC only covers you for emergency medical treatment.
Hi from the UK, I’ve only just come across your videos and I’m enjoying them very much. It’s been quite a while since I visited Lanzarote (2017) and I’m thinking of returning in October, can you tell me if it is worth visiting at that time of the year (bars, restaurants, museums etc still open, I especially enjoyed going to Cesar Manrique’s house and museum)as I used to visit around late August and I’m not sure if much will be open when I plan to return. Thank you in advance.
Unless I’m mistaken, we see a mirror image of you, not a ‘true’ one. Most, if not all, cameras and phones default to ‘mirror, for their front facing camera (I understand this is for the bulk of users who do use it as a mirror) but the setting is easily changed 👍 Keep up the great work. Our next trip, Boxing Day until 20/1, has some new cafe, food and walking destinations all because of you 👍😂
Hi Mike! I wonder if you could clarify something about el islote de la fermina? I understood that it was going to be open as a free swimming pool for the general public - but when we were there in March, there wasn’t any water in the pools. Do you happen to know if they have abandoned the idea of using the pools for swimming and are using it as a general chill out place with the cafe etc instead?
I don’t think the idea has been abandoned, but there are several issues that are preventing it happening at the moment. We’re hoping one day, to have a swim there!
Hi Mike, thank you so much for all of your very informative videos. As said yesterday, they really keep us in touch with life on the island. I see in some of the comments to this video talk about two books, can you please provide some details, names and where they can be purchased? I am very interested to read them. Keep up the great work. Kind regards and look forward to your reply.
Our understanding is that if you rent a property out for less than ten weeks per year, you don’t need a licence. But you should still complete your annual tax return and inform the police of who is staying at your property. But check with an expert like www.villacheckin.com
Hola Mike, Greatly appreciate your videos very informative and helpful. Do you know if a date have been set for the Food & Drink festival in Teguise ? It’s normally in November. Best Regards, Steve, Playa Blanca.
Thanks Steve, and yes we posted it to the website and via our weekly newsletter a couple of weeks ago: lanzaroteinformation.co.uk/festival-enogastronomico-saborea-lanzarote/
I know you did a video on renting an electric car in Lanzarote and issues with charging. When we were over in November all the public chargers in Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca were broken, and when we were back in March they still had not been fixed. We were able to charge at the private chargers at Marina Rubicon but it might be interesting for you to do an update on your video about charging an electric car in Lanzarote.
Yes, I will. Both our cars are electric, but we always charge them at home, and on the free chargers in supermarkets while shopping, so I’ll have to do some research first.
It's always a source of wry amusement to discover quite how unjoined-up is the thinking of official bodies. Primary school children are probably more switched on than government organisations are.
@@davidwebb4904 Your question was will stopping the issue of new licenses affect prices of existing ones? I answered that. The issue of affordable homes is not related, but hopefully restrictions on new licences and / or reducing the number of properties being holiday let, will release some of them to that market.
