I am in the middle of this, day four is today. It isn't as bubbly as I would like it. It probably won't be ready tomorrow. Should I just keep going until it passes a float test? thank you!
I guess Im randomly asking but does any of you know of a tool to log back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot my account password. I would love any assistance you can give me!
Hi, I am curious; if you do not have a starter; can you just put Flour, Water, Salt in a bowl; and just let it naturally ferment for a couple of days or say; and then bake it. Will that work for an edible healthy sour dough bread; or do you need to have a starter? Thanks
@@sunray9941 i ended up going with another recipe, but it was way too acidic and just leaf my bread tasting vile haha. I will try again with rye flour and see if it helps
Easy and right to the point !! Unbelievable most of the recipes for making your own sourdough starter is so long ..talk! talk! Not action ugh!! Thanks for easy recipe!! Smart Chef!! 👏👍
Finally a recipe without the lengthy talking and videos. Wow I’ve watched videos trying to understand how to make a starter without all the other details that I don’t need, and finally this one I found. Thanks
Great vid. For those without a scale just use 2 parts flour to 1 part water VOLUME to feed. ie 2 tsp flour to one tsp water. This will be in the ballpark and will work fine. One thing to watch is having the starter too wet. This can cause yellow fluid to gather at the top each morning which indicates your starter is too hydrated.
I tried 2 previous recipes for a starter this month and now tried your recipe~wish I had tried your recipe first!!! It is easy and worked right away the first day! I even used some of the discard to put into one of the previous unsuccessful starters I tried and it even got that going like crazy! So I have healthy starter coming out of my ears lol.. thank you so much. This does not have to be hard! Used a good wheat flour and very pleased.
Days 1 - 4: 50 g water & 50 g water for 24 hrs. Day 5: bake with some starter! Make sure to keep and maintain (50g starter/ 50 g water and 50g flour) and feed every 24 hours if at room temp!
The most helpful recipe of starter , super simple and easy to understand. I dont know why people complicate it so much, its not a rock science for goodness sake! Thank you for sharing xx
Finally I am hopefully to make a sourdough starter! Thank you for your easy to follow video! To make it even easier, 50grams flour or water = approximately 1/3 cup. 😊
Starter making sounds so intimidating, however after watching your video it doesn’t seem so hard. The best part is you are not doing the discard method which I really love as it seems such a waste to discard pricey flour nowadays. Thank you so much for doing this.
I can’t believe all the questions. You’ve given a perfectly clear and complete, simple explanation and instructions. Thank you. Just follow her instructions, people.
Question here…. If we want to store our starter after “day 5” in the fridge, lid has to be closed right? And we feed the starter every 4 days or so? I’m switching from store bought bread to homemade bread like completely. Thank you for this video! I have watched so so many and end up having more questions then answers. But yours seem so simple and straight to the point.
Brilliant....I watched a zillion other videos on this but yours knocked them all outta the park.....easy, well explained & I love your dry sense of humour
I appreciate that you give the weight in grams and straight to the point instructions. I had a starter for about 6 years but l got too busy and later I became sick too, so I neglected it and tossed it. I will begin with a new one today and I will set up reminders! I do have a question...How do you plan your baking projects efficiently and do you have tips for saving time? Working full-time, family, errands, doctors keep me away from home. I need to find a better method to remain consistent with my breads and dessert. Thank you!
