I noticed the Mick memorial shirt too! (Time Team should sell them!) This is such a fantastic site that I can’t help but think that he’s smiling down from on high.
How it tugs at my hearts to see how friends have aged-to realize how much of life they have shared with me and others, and to realize just how temporary our time is.
Also, I missed Raksha. Anyone else gone? No one else seems to have shown personality as of yet, but with time, likely they will get more comfortable speaking up. But I've only watched 37 minutes, part 1, so will continue after doing my daily obligatory walk.
WOW! 30 years of Time Team? Really now! Happy Birthday, Time Team!!!! I'd like to say that, as an American who first found out about this show on UA-cam, and has subsequently watched every episode, I would like to give a tremendous 'Thank You!' to everybody that has been involved with the production of this great show. This show has given me a greater appreciation for the history of the UK (which I love, as an American), and the history of mankind, as well. CHEERS!!!
I am right there with you! I learned of it a year ago and absorbed all 30 years in the past year. Love seeing how they have all grown and aged over time and it was all in one year! haha! They have done a phenominal job! I miss Phil in the trenches and Tony Hosting!
Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of fascinating history and archelogy in America, but in the UK, when you look at a world map, we are so tiny, yet there is so much history here! I live in Cornwall, and we have Iron Age hillforts, Stone circles and dolmens, and Norman castles, we are so, so lucky, I hope you come and visit someday :)
I like Gus's smoothly inquisitive style. Watched the 3 episodes shortly after each was broadcast, and now enjoying this full length compilation. Picking up more details. Always more to learn.
I always think of the time he was dressed up as a warrior for Lords of the Isles. Mick asks who they were getting to dress up and he laughs when he finds out it’s Matt. 😂❤
Oh, Rachel! Your reaction to finding and recognize the first ever ironage kiln, was so heart warming! It was your turn to put YOUR name to the story! Don't let them forget your name! It was so moving it brought me to tears! 🥰 Congratulations to all involved! 🤗🙏❤️
The best part about this episode was the glimpse of the little crocheted Mick Aston doll on someone's desk and Jackie talking John into moving a wheelbarrow.
I loved seeing Dr Lawrence Shaw's T-Shirt on the 30th Birthday of Time Team, it's like Mick was with you all in spirit. Here's to the next 30 years. . . . I love that the passion of the 'old' gang is still strong and is in the 'new' members just as strong and they are as one going forward.
That was a lovely opening format, seeing the archaeologists having time themselves, sharing & thinking together. Kind of reminds me of the warmth I observed and felt, amongst the Team under Mick's direction.
And Kerry Ely finally got a mention as location manager at the very end of the credits...wasn't he an original "Time Team" member? Or, is my aged memory playing tricks with me? What a brilliant episode, unencumbered by the restrictions of tight TV scheduling, I felt as though I was really there and missed nothing: great editing of magnificent cinematography! Wow!
There was definitely a boy Kerry in the original. (my husband’s named Kerry too so i notice) Cant remember his last name but its such a rare first name
Fantastic. UA-cam is like having a Time Machine within a Time Machine. We can go back in time to watch the incredible Time Team going back in time with their archaeological explorations. Surely one of the most amazing documentary series' on the internet. And the new team are becoming as popular as the old team of Tony, Mike, Phil, Helen etc. Personally, I will always treasure the moment last year when I had the great pleasure of meeting, and having a long conversation with, Phil Harding at Salisbury Museum.
Time Team really should sell a stripey t-shirt like the one that Dr Shaw wore, with a big TT logo on the front. People would absolutely gobble them up. Merch ideas for you guys!!!
This is THE BEST of the new TT episodes! I was completely engrossed the entire time. Three cheers for the “Mick memorial tee shirt”! TT should definitely make this a part of their merch. I would gladly buy one. 💜
My paternal grandfather was stationed at Corfe Castle during WWII and fell in love with the place, I've been there many times, it's such a beautiful and interesting landscape :)
Really enjoyed that and tbh didn't think about the missing old faces until I read the comments THEN I missed them 😔 Its a great show, it always will be, love it!
I had to double check the date of this, once again, Helen doesn't seem to have aged at all since about 2008. She looks exactly the same, Not sure how, but God bless her!
Happy 30th birthday Timeteam, I miss the the old ones but thank god we have the classics . I think this episode will go down as a great classic, not as ckassic as the Isle of Mull which is still my all time favourite. I would still like to ask you to visit my ice age pagan burial stone ovals and splitstones on Pendle hill in Lancashire, everything is on the top of the surface which means Stuarts job would be easy, although the ice age brook could do with some TLC from timeteam .Congratulations and heres to the next thirty years, till then, Ill keep guardian of Wiswell Rough and the druid burial grounds .
I have a question. When the digs are complete, the site gets buried again to preserve anything left in the ground. I see over and over again where old sites are revisited but there's difficulty locating the previous trenches, even with GPS. Why not take a page from the Utility company and place underground, detectable markers at the corners of the trenches and key locations?
For certain in outlying settlements that werent subject to direct Roman conquest the trasition would be gradual. I have friends in their late-twenties and early-to-mid-thirties who grew up in villages without electricity or plumbing, yet archaeiologists of the future who might go digging in those areas would also discover plastic and other modern items. Not every community is going to represent the text-book example of the time in which they lived through lifestyle alone.
Was the item with three holes used to make rope? Some rope is made with three strands. This is one of of my favorite shows. As one commenter said, it's sad not seeing individuals from earlier and makes one realize how short our time on earth is. Fortunately, the new members seem to do a great job.
I don’t know these Time Team people. Where are Tony, Phil and Mick ?? They are my favourite characters. So comical and worked well together. ❤ I’m a Canadian and only started watching this Time Team show on UA-cam a since few years ago. Salary disputes???
I love the nee Time Team, but do miss the old crew!!! Its like going to a family reunion and finding new people to be your aunts, uncles, cousins, etc...just feels atrange
It definitely feels different, and I will always live then originals. However, I like the direction of the newest iteration of time team. They are putting a lot of work into it.
Gus has taken a few shows to settle just as Tony did back in 1993-4. I noticed it at the Modbury dig(s) - He, and the rest of the new members of the 'team', have all relaxed a bit. If they had the time and budget to do four or five digs of this scale every year we'd see everyone's personalities emerge a lot more. Still, better this than just the re-runs, much as I love them.
@@TheSilentPrince-mt5mx and remember it was the fans on Patreon that got them back together, it was a massive endeavour. Now, all the TIME TEAM in front and behind the scenes have got their "mojo" a going, and the Sutton Hoo dig this past summer with Tony really put the wind back into their sails. And, the Disney dig this past October for broadcast in 2025 (I watched the Dig Watch patreon episodes and it looks to be fantastic, I cannot wait until the 3 Day - Episodes air. I have been a Patreon for the last few years, just a basic subscription but it is worth every Canadian $$$.
@@brettwalters-n4u Tony's involvement is a nice touch. He hosted the 'Band of Brothers' dig last year as well and although obviously not as mobile these days he retains all the sense of mischief which made the old 'Time Team' shows such fun to watch. Gus gets a bit of flak purely because he's not Tony but he's an academic who happens to be a reasonable presenter whereas Tony was/is a comic actor who knows how to connect with audiences through the camera. I think more people are appreciating the resurrected show for what it is rather than just pining for what was.

YES! So much better to watch it straight through.
We need more Matt!
Love that doc Shaw is wearing a rainbow sweater on the 30th anniversary dig, reminds me of Mick.
Love Mick shirt colours. Thank you so much, a great tribute to a most wonderfully missed man.
Miss victor ambrose too
I noticed the Mick memorial shirt too! (Time Team should sell them!) This is such a fantastic site that I can’t help but think that he’s smiling down from on high.
My favorite show of all time. For 30 years
How it tugs at my hearts to see how friends have aged-to realize how much of life they have shared with me and others, and to realize just how temporary our time is.
Thank you so much, it's like the good old days, when we used to have this thing called decent, educational television.
I miss Phil, Mik, and Tony but love seeing others from the team and feel like we've watched Matt grow up ❤😂❤
❤
Also, I missed Raksha. Anyone else gone? No one else seems to have shown personality as of yet, but with time, likely they will get more comfortable speaking up. But I've only watched 37 minutes, part 1, so will continue after doing my daily obligatory walk.
Phil crops up occasionally on Digging for Britain
I also miss Phil yelling at Tony every time he stepped into his trenches. lol
Carenza, Helen, John, Dani, all the others, too! I often wonder why Raksha and Phil aren't in this newer series.
WOW! 30 years of Time Team? Really now! Happy Birthday, Time Team!!!! 30th anniversary, but where were Phil and Tony on such an auspicious occasion?

Amazing watching site supervisor Matt and remembering him spending 24 hours as a slave, or as a Celt warrior.
Definitely
I always think of the time he was dressed up as a warrior for Lords of the Isles. Mick asks who they were getting to dress up and he laughs when he finds out it’s Matt. 😂❤
Ikr ? I’ve said it before: how come Matt looks so old ! and I haven’t aged a day ?
@@justjane2070 if you say so yourself
He certainly payed his dues!
Time Team has not changed. A new adventure and if feels like the old times. Great.
Oh, Rachel! Your reaction to finding and recognize the first ever ironage kiln, was so heart warming! It was your turn to put YOUR name to the story! Don't let them forget your name! It was so moving it brought me to tears! 🥰 Congratulations to all involved! 🤗🙏❤️
Love Gus as a presenter. Enthusiasm and calmness- much appreciated. Glad he’s one of the TT family😊😊
The best part about this episode was the glimpse of the little crocheted Mick Aston doll on someone's desk and Jackie talking John into moving a wheelbarrow.
YES!! What time stamp was that? I want to buy one!! Mick is a LEGEND.
Happy birthday Time Team! May you be with us for many years to come!
I LOVE the nods to Mick in the stripes ❤😢.... He would be so happy to see TT live on for new and old fans alike !
Superb. Takes me back 20 or so years ago when I used to watch the episodes on the tv. Thank you
37:20 onwards. Lovely to see the team in the field relaxing after a hard days graft. 😊 Thanks Time Team and the Patreons for funding this dig.
That was a lovely opening format, seeing the archaeologists having time themselves, sharing & thinking together. Kind of reminds me of the warmth I observed and felt, amongst the Team under Mick's direction.
Miles has became a Time Team favorate of mine. So wonderfully grounded!

Great episode. What a fantastic location with the castle ruins on the hill.
I Love Time Team and have been a small supporter for the past two yrs, and always look forward to more digs..
Still loving this show since the first ever episode. Amazing.
Dr. Lawrence Shaw, that's a fantastic choice of shirt! What a nice tribute to Mick, thanks for making my day!!
This is a thorough examination and explanation of this dig, but oh how one misses Mick, Francis, Phil and Tony!
New adventures with new members, how exciting! Always love Time Team
Time Team really should sell a stripey t-shirt like the one that Dr Shaw wore, with a big TT logo on the front. People would absolutely gobble them up. Merch ideas for you guys!!!
There is still a striped rucksack and a striped mug in the shop but the teddy with t-shirt has disappeared ! Sold out I presume 😊
I'd buy a 'Mick sweater'
I would love a “Mick Aston” t-shirt. Proud to help TT through Patreon!
I want to make a properly striped tea 🫖 cozy…!
Thank you for putting this together for us all.
This is THE BEST of the new TT episodes! I was completely engrossed the entire time. Three cheers for the “Mick memorial tee shirt”! TT should definitely make this a part of their merch. I would gladly buy one. 💜

Happy 30th birthday to the greatest TV show to ever grace British Television!
A timeless into to a timeless show... Here's to another 30!
I don't remember them ever digging in a more beautiful location.
Happy bithday time team! You're one reason why I once started studyìng archaeology. ❤
Happy birthday time team... love own you look at your history way back then
Gus makes me appreciate Tony's enthousiasm even more

I am really impressed.
definitely the spookiest Wytch i'll see all season!

Return to Jamestown, Virginia and St. Mary's, Maryland USA. This would be a great tie in from the original and would reveal so much new information!
Dr Gus is great. Kudos.
This redo with the latest technology was captivating & felt like a good visit peering into our TT characters, though I miss Phil.
💖💖💖💖🇨🇦💖💖 watching TIME TEAM. Keep up the great work. Tv
What a great group, Time Team, interesting videos, thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks Guys 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Yeah I would keep

Dr Shaws shirt has to be a shout out to Micks sweater!
52:55 Thanks for including Mick. The Professor would be Proud.
It was a picturesque place to dig
Really enjoyed that and tbh didn't think about the missing old faces until I read the comments THEN I missed them 😔 Its a great show, it always will be, love it!
Soon I will do some digging of my own a volunteer amateur, here in Amsterdam. Thanks for the inspiration.
Lovely setting. Great episode.
I had to double check the date of this, once again, Helen doesn't seem to have aged at all since about 2008. She looks exactly the same, Not sure how, but God bless her!
Excellent, thank you
I watched it separately, I watched it all stitched together!
Dr. Shaw channeling Dr. Mick Aston!❤
Poor Miles Russell! He worked so hard! Love seeing him!
Well let's face it.. Everyone gave it their all! ❤❤
Thanks!
Happy birthday TT❤
Happy 30th, Time Team! It's nice to see Dr. Gus again...I just love his enthusiasm!😊 ...off to watch the show now...
Archeology and History. a great combination. 2 of my favourite things.
Wonderfully addictive archeological adventures
Age of Queen Boudica!!
Of Id know your guys were digging here when we were at Kingston Lacy, I would have driven down to say hello.
Nice to see that Mick Aston is always with you
Watched the first episode to the last loved every minute time team your the best

Lawrence, what a wonderful nod to Prof. Mick Aston, with your striped shirt!
We're back baby!
Respect ladies . Handling big tree trunks. 💪 both incredibly fit 👌
Amazing the amount of generations piled up on that island.
Digging iron age settlement
Through medieval and post roman layers with a Mott and Bailey castle remains in the background.
Somewhat jealous.
Excellent episode! ❤
What a treat, much better than love island or towie
Congratulations 🥳
Thank you for sharing
6:31, What a view!
Doc Shaw wearing a Mick Aston memorial shirt!😇
I have a question.

It's nice to see them get funding for tents finally. It's taken 3 decades, but ya gotta start somewhere🤣
I live in the US. I'm looking to travel next year and volunteer at a dig site. Any suggestions on where to get information?
A lot of Universities do archeology so a good place to start. My personal choice would be Bournemouth/New Forest because that is where Hilde is - lol.

They have a Mick doll in the tent! Is that for sale? Where can I buy one?
I think that was knitted for him years back by a fan or one of the volunteers. I don’t think that any are made for sale- it’s a labor of love.
Petition to take time team international
Thanks again!
Looks cool.
Phil made time team for me 😊
30th anniversary, but where were Phil and Tony?
New Time Team! 🎉
To go back in time for just a day
If only you could bring the passion of your predecessor!!!!!
I don’t know these Time Team people. Where are Tony, Phil and Mick ?? They are my favourite characters. So comical and worked well together. ❤ I’m a Canadian and only started watching this Time Team show on UA-cam a since few years ago. Salary disputes???
Mick died years ago. Everyone else has aged.
Phil is almost 75, and Tony is +/- 80, I think. There’s no Fountain of Youth, alas. They aren’t ‘characters’; they are real people.
I miss the old team. But this was a really good show. The science of the skeletons and other aspects made it very interesting.
{:o:O:}
❤❤❤
Hi viz and hard hats for scraping a trowel?
Reqired when there’s heavy equipment in use on the site.
I love the nee Time Team, but do miss the old crew!!! Its like going to a family reunion and finding new people to be your aunts, uncles, cousins, etc...just feels atrange
