As a linebacker my self always getting yelled when I’m lateral reading the play , but once I come down hill filling the gap it has a different look in coaches eyes it’s hard being a linebacker especially how much film you have to watch to recognize formations and be able to react
I agree it becomes easier over time, I’ve played for multiple linebacker coaches and I think it’s a position that most aren’t qualified to coach unless they’ve played the position for an extended period of time and at a pretty high level.
I'm french but I played football in Canada as rb, always loved the sport and wanted to play again. This def helps because I want to play lb next season. Thank you
This helped a lot, I'm heading into my sophomore year on varsity and my problem was over committing on plays and coming downhill but when I read like this my coaches don't like it but I get a lot more tackles
Glad I could help! It’s definitely a tough line to walk but sometimes being more patient may lead to less tackles & more success in the long run. On the other hand, overcommitting could lead to multiple tackles but result in a big time run which costs the team to lose the game. It’s all about finding that middle ground
Look at how he’s reading his keys. Football, especially at the lower levels, becomes so much easier when you can read your keys. Like you said in the video, WATCH FILM. Most of the time, if that guard is taking a step straight down and in, it’s going to be a run. If that guard is standing up and taking a step back, it’s a pass. If they’ve got a fullback, ball is probably going where he’s first stepping. And look at how those legs are always moving. That man doesn’t waste a single step during the play. Great video!
My son is starting his first year of tackle. Putting him at MLB. Thanks for breaking the film down. Gonna show him this vid and hope he turns into another Fred Warner!
thanks for the video it cleared up a couple things i was confused about im going into my sophomore year and they moved everybody into different positions i moved from defensive tackle to linebacker thanks for the tips
This hepled me a lot, iv always been a defensive lineman, but starting my 7th grade year, my coach put me in on linebacker, so i was tryna look into it. Thanks man! ❤
I’m a small ass will linebacker 5’1 and 140 so I’m trying my hardest to be the best I can, problem is my mental game is wack, I keep getting intimated by the o line and it’s my first year playing the position. So hopefully this video helps because this is the only in depth video I could find
Thanks for the video bro really helps a lot for me playing LB this year💪🏾💯, but can make a video on basic football terminology so people that are beginners can understanding it more
Learn where the defensive line is supposed to be on every play, you may question why is that important at first, but once you figure out which gaps they will be in, you’ll automatically know which gaps will be unfilled, and depending on your responsibility on the play that will usually be your gap to fill.
Alex @10:19 getting too flat too quick. I see the pros do this all the time. They play like they're the only guy on the field and have no backup. Hes backside the play, why hes not screaming through backside A gap to cover cutback and possibly blow it up in the backfield is mind blowing.
Inside and middle backers don’t need to be the best tacklers…..if they find themselves in open space enough to prove that they’re the best tacklers, then they are not doing their job. Read, deafest blocks, own the box… The triangle is to develop play read and not key read. Following the just the guard would fall under “key read.” Reading blocking combos to backfield would be the triangle.
Shed blockers in the NFL man the linebackers on my squad are struggling in almost all phases number one are secondary plays a soft zone because they don't want to give up big plays ever and because the linebackers can't cover can't get off blocks and can't tackle we value defensive line we value our secondary but we don't value linebacker I feel like it is literally the reason our defense is struggling we had two solid linebackers last year we made it to the super bowl this year we are struggling in the middle of the field even though we're winning I can see we're not going to beat the 49ers first and foremost because our linebackers are liabilities in the middle of the field and when you're playing a soft zone and first priority is not getting beat deep you're already 8 yards back and now you got to cover more than the middle of the field
I've always wanted to play LB but my mom said I couldn't play even though everyone asked her if I was in football because I have LB build sooooooo I'm a LB in my dreams 😂
Pretty sure it depends on the play. Mainly, eye on the ball, but if you fall into coverage try and keep them on the guy your gaurding and then pay attention to where the ball is during the play
You’re NOT Too short to be a NFL Linebacker, Trust Me: ua-cam.com/video/eElgEJXJEpM/v-deo.htmlsi=76O7iHxqwxzGEJJ1

But since I’ve played linebacker my whole life it has become a hell of a lot easier
I agree it becomes easier over time, I’ve played for multiple linebacker coaches and I think it’s a position that most aren’t qualified to coach unless they’ve played the position for an extended period of time and at a pretty high level.

Thank you
I am center currently i want to become a line backer
good info
I've always wanted to play LB but my mom said I couldn't play even though everyone asked her if I was in football because I have LB build sooooooo I'm a LB in my dreams 😂
Cool😊
Pre snap where should my eyes be?
I think QB or RB
Pretty sure it depends on the play. Mainly, eye on the ball, but if you fall into coverage try and keep them on the guy your gaurding and then pay attention to where the ball is during the play
And watch the guard
2:34 one rule is to NEVER let them run through the inside of you.
As somebody who has NEVER played football a day in my life but is going into my senior year in high school as an outside linebacker, thank you
At 9:32 he thought 45 had it but after 45 was blocked and didn’t have the ball he went straight for it bad read needs to be more
Patient
Dos: be Fred Warner
Donts: not be Fred Warner
