  • I've tested out the GoGo gate and I liked it, but iSmartgate is the latest gate opener from this company and it's better.
    • Gogogate 2 Ultimate Ga... . Gogo gate review
    iSmartgate has a better Wi-Fi range, an easier install, and a more seamless look. I installed it on my Mighty Mule gate arm.

    Thanks for the review. I'm currently building an Apple Homekit Smart home and found this product. Thinking about purchasing for our front gate. Couple of questions:
    1. You mentioned that you purchased your gate opener arm/hardware from the same company. Do you mind providing the model/details of that system?
    2. You mentioned that you (almost) never have connectivity problems. Thanks for your honesty on this. What would you say an estimated % of time the unit works would be (95+% for example)? Seriously thinking about this system and just want to be sure it's a good investment before I pull the trigger. Don't want to spend several hundreds (maybe $1,000+?) on a system that works 50% - 60% of the time.
    3. Are you still having issues with the camera or did you manage to get it working correctly? Also, is the camera weather proof or did you have to figure out how to keep it out of the elements?
    Great review. Thanks so much.

      Hi,
      - I bought the Mighty Mule MM260. It's a gate arm for a 12 foot gate.
      - If you have a router near by or you have an extender working to get a decent connection to your gate, you should never have connection issues or dropped connections. I moved a repeater toward my gate because it's pretty far away, and as long as I'm within 3 bars of Wi-Fi, I'm up 99% of the time.
      - I actually gave up on the camera because I found it only loaded video about 50% of the time. I have a Ring camera out there I've been using just to keep an eye on the gate. It's not an IP camera (works via wi-fi) so it's much more reliable.
      - All of the components are not weather proof, so you'll have to protect them. I let mine get wet a few times and had to dry it out before it would work again.
      I hope that helps! :)

      @@ShellyWutke604 hi can i get it here in South Africa

    I can't believe for that price for such a cheap bundle of circuits that they don't make it weather resistant, knowing it's an outdoor solution.

      I have thought the same thing. The expectation is to put it in a waterproof box, but unless that box is open to the front or you have the antenna extended, you won't have a solid connection to your Wi-Fi.

      @@ShellyWutke604 so I got this because of your video. I put mine in a ip55 rated plastic box and from 300ft it works fine.

    Whats the maximum length of cable for the signal wires to the gate arm. Ie could you install this indoors/closer to your wifi and run a length of 12v cable to the arm?

    • @ShellyWutke604
      @ShellyWutke604  11 місяців тому

      I’m not sure. I have a very short wire from the gate arm to the controller, but I don’t think it would be an issue if you connected it via a longer wire. Maybe there would be a bit of a delay but I don’t think it would be significant.

    How is the gate kit working? I did a temp install and it worked but I am also having a problem with the camera

      It's really hit or miss, but I have terrible Wi-Fi that far from the house so I always think it's due to Wi-Fi. I have had the camera connected but it tends to drop quite frequently.
      I think it really needs to be used with an outdoor ethernet cable for the best connection.

      You bet. You just need the right type of gate arm.

    What is the app? It's the one with 3.1 rating on play store?

    • @ShellyWutke604
      @ShellyWutke604  4 роки тому

      It's the ismartgate app. I haven't checked the app store but that's probably it. It's not the most user friendly app, but it's a good device.

    Are you still happy with the ismartgate after a year ?

    • @ShellyWutke604
      @ShellyWutke604  3 роки тому

      I still like the option of opening the gate with my phone, but I’ve found I need better Wi-Fi up there to get it to work consistently. It drops the connection to my wifi quite a bit.
