A Cultural vlog today! If you see a camera man, its because a week or so ago he asked if i would help him do a piece on tourism here in Iraq for UTV. I am happy to help in any way to promote tourism, i wasn't paid , it was just voluntary. So if my camera work isnt the best its because i was followed by another camera! Ive heard of this museum and he took me there. anyone thats interested in history and how the Baghdadis lives back then, it says it has 70 scenes from different periods of Baghdadi life! Im not normally a museum person but it was interesting to see how people lived back them....there are Plaques on the wall on most rooms explaining whats going on in a particular scene, a couple were rubbed off a bit...but definitely worth a visit ,some amusing scenes too..i had to took twice at the circumcision ceremony!!!!! i thought it was a woman gibing birth at first!!! lol...
you could easily spend a couple of hours here!

You should visit the Iraqi national museum aswell ... it's in Baghdad/ Alawi it's more bigger than this simple museum and its really amazing

While I disagree with circumcision or genital mutilation of any sort; the practice has been a very old tradition in the middle east, I’d say thousands of years.. religiously it’s the equivalent to christening (parents committing their son to their faith).. while I don’t agree with it; it’s been part of Iraqi culture for centuries. It’s as big as births, weddings, graduations, and pilgrimages. Culturally, it’s fitting to find a place in the Baghdadi cultural museum.
As for the graphic confronting nature of the display; I think it’s not as confronting as the chopped heads displayed at Madame Tussauds in London. As a kid, I was horrified when my parents took me to the London MT museum

Thank you for presenting Iraq in a rather bright image, and as an Iraqi i can see and feel how hard you’re trying to omit the negative aspects.
Absolutely. Kudos for you that you as an Iraqi man stand up for the right of each individual to decide over his body( and yes even the helpless kids) although I can imagine it is not easy but definitely the right thing to do! Of course as far as the video goes it is more about traveling and i love Iraqi museum.

It's an interesting shooting, but what makes it annoying is the distorting voice in the background. It drives us crazy. Couldn't the administration of the museum stop it? At least while you were shooting. I couldn't watch the whole video because of the distortion. 😐

@@WanderingEmma If I agree with it then I would ask the administration one or two questions: How will you attract tourists to this museum if they face such annoying distortion, if we took in concideration, most of the tourists who look for such type of interest are above 50's, and Noise is absolutely not one of their favorite choices.
I suggest putting a sound device having the mentioned noise, if someone likes to listen to it then he can simply push a play botton on that device to listen ( fore a short while) to it instead of annoying all the visitors the whole day. This system is wide spread in the museums & other alike places all over the world.
I hope my English is good enough to convey the idea in its simplest way.
