(I've never played TE4, but I am assuming it plays the same way as TE3, fundamentally) One tip for aiming: as soon as you hold a shot button to hit it, your player plants themselves in position and starts preparing to hit the ball. That means you want to plant your player in position when they are within reach of the ball, otherwise they will miss it. So only start aiming when you are holding down a shot button, and only try to hit the ball when your player is within react of the ball. With practice, you will instinctively know how big the aiming indicator is and how fast it moves in either direction, after you decide to turn off the aiming indicator
i am stuck in tennis elbow 2013, i bought it once and thought let's try this first before buying the part 4. Good that i have. i am just overwhelmed with the strange button description configuring the gamepad, not managing the serve mechanics and the plus point i works vice versa to the tennis game i played before. I am out. For younger people that have plenty of time in hand i think it is for sure worth it to put the effort in to figure out what the dev meant this game to be, i do not even get it when i read the instructions.
This is the best guide on TE4 mechanics, thanks so much for making it! One thing I'm still confused about is the movement. It seems like the player has a hard time changing direction, and yet when I see high level gameplay they are able to move much quicker. Is there a stutter step mechanic? What am I missing here?
Glad you've enjoyed the video! From what I understand and gathered from others about movement, there are 2 main factors: deceleration and anticipation. Deceleration - High level players tend to stop moving a moment before they know the direction of the opponent's shot. Anticipation - Sometimes you can predict the direction of opponent's shot. i.e. You just played long cross court and they will hit the ball quite early. This means they likely won't go down the line cuz the ball will hit the net. And so you can start stepping towards opponent's cross court shot, with high chance of guessing it right.
Interesting...I guess deceleration is necessary because the game punishes changing direction. So you need to stop your movement first. How about when you're actually moving in a given direction? Is there a period of time when you accelerate before reaching max speed? I notice that the character will start running after holding a direction for a little bit.
hello quick question :) how do you prevent your player from hitting auto shots? i.e if i do not press any button, the player still hits the ball. thanks a million for this review
The game has different "helpers" like Danger indicator, aiming preview, etc. You can modify which ones you see in "Help" part in the menu. Alternatively you can change that in "Characters sheet" first tab (your player) in the bottom left corner.
thanx, i was waiting for this guide i’m playng this game for 5 days and i use pro 6 of difficult, i lose almost all the match, but i dont want change it😂
Tough opponents make us better players! If you want to learn and improve quickly, try online matches. It will be a rough ride at the start, but the process will boost your skill development 😅
@@matteopiva7707 It's really hard to help you with that since I don't know how exactly do you play. I would need to see how you play. Perhaps join one of the game's discords and reach out to people there or find me on servers ("Machete" on discord)
i still dont know how to do slice and kick serve, do we have yo just click the "add slice" button and then proceed to serve? i tried but i never had a slice serve/kick serve.
@Machete Gaming Is it normal that when I hit the ball using alt+downarrow, I can no longer direct the shot left or right? (in uparrow it's ok) Or another example: alt + ctrl + downarrow I can't direct the ball either. In other cases it works. Same with service. Using keyboard
Random question. Is there a side selection option in the pause menu of an exhibition game or career game. For example, you play the first set and want to put the rest of the game CPU vs CPU to simulate or you and your friend want to switch sides mid game. Thank you
@@ManaGamesCom great thank you. Grabbing the game for sure. The gameplay/strokes look really good. The mods add a lot to the game too. Congrats on your hardwork. Excited about the continued growth of the game. If it is easy to do, it be great to add side selection to the pause menu.
@@ssh7579 If by "side", you just mean the camera side and not who controls what player, then you can change it from the Pause menu -> Settings -> Camera (and there's also Split screen in the advanced Video options). Your initial message is a bit confusing... 😅
Sorry l meant actual player side selection. So let's say l am playing a best of five sets. I play the first four games with Rafa. Then after, I want to switch to playing with Roger for a bit. Most, if not all, sport games have a "side selection" option in the pause menu. For example for Fifa (now FC), l use to play the first half with Barca and the second with Real Madrid in the same match for my Laliga tournament. Yes my original message wasn't too clear 😂 Tiebreak has the side selection option in the pause menu but Topspin surprising didn't have it. Thanks again
@@ssh7579 Oh ok, I had never heard of that. You actually can change your controller in Pause menu -> Player Stats, so if you play with a friend, you can switch the controllers (in-game, not in real) to exchange your players. Against the CPU, it's not possible and it's unlikely I'll add it : it's quite fast to exit & re-enter the match, so it's not super needed.
Question: I play with 2D courts, real pics of tennis venues. How do you shut off generic lines men and chair umpires on the screen? I play with XKT mode.
Are you talking about those duplicated ones? When you have the photo linesman and those Black Ops linesman mentioned in another comment? If so, lower the "level of details" to very low. But if you talk about the 2D linesman and chair umpire from the photo, then you cannot remove them with video options (they are just there on the photo)
Hey there, thanks for the videos! Just a question, in the video the scoreboard (wimbledon for example) is at the top right corner and sometimes is at the top left corner (just as IRL) so my question is, how so set scoreboards to always appear in their IRL position?
Hmm I am not sure I ever change their settings. The difference between footage might be me playing on different mods profiles. Sometimes I play on XKT and sometimes on XKT (WTSL) mods, so maybe that?
@@machetegaming Interesting. Thanks for answering me. Maybe I will check it out. Currently I don't have the game and now I'm considering getting TE 4 or TB and I have watched your video about TB and it makes me to want buying TE 4 more and more (I'm Xbox player) what do you think?
Is this game ever gonna be relesead for ps4? I would be super happy to play this because what I saw from Tiebreak and topspin this in terms of gameplay looks like spacecraft
@@NikolaBoric-z6f It's based on words from the developer. Even couple of days ago he commented on my latest TE4 vs FATS video saying he aims for release by the end of October.
I only played a past version of tennis elbow, so I can't be sure. However to me it's extremely important to actually be able to aim shots short. The idea of having a seperate key that performs a short shot is a bit weird to me.
i wish there was a documentation for TE4, like wtf is breath/energy/shorttermform/stress, how does it affect players, im playing career, and i cannot find any explanation about that, like for breath is a little bit obvious, when you run out of breath you miss more shots, but what is the percentage ? and for energy it seems to go down very very slow, like should i make my oponent(CPU) tired and play around that? the concept is good, but it is not well explained, poorly simulated for when you reduce number of sets/number of games per sets, i guess it only works if you wanna play full game sets, but in career mode thats too long wtf is focus and these mental stats, wtf is muscle tone, wtf is acceleration trait, too many questions i can see why the game doesnt appeal for new players,
There's documentation, just unfortunately not in the game (tooltips on character sheet would be nice so we don't have to search for explanations). You can check my first video guide ("getting started") where I linked two documents written by the dev. You'll find there explanations for stats.

Possible with outfit code

Last time I played you could make 80-ish rated custom players.
