1:55 I think this is the best part because all the pairings seem to be spot on. Preston with Wee Man, Erin with Dave, Steve-O with Chris, Bam with Dunn and Knoxville is like the “leader” of the pack.
I love everything about things from 1:38, that dance with throwing their skirts up while kicking, then the guy's dance with the perfectly timed gun fire and the little dance after, I replayed those 10 seconds so many times
@ElMaxi1899 Something along the lines of alcohol or drug abuse. Or both. I think the death of Dunn and I’m sure other things I have just taken a toll on him overtime. It appears he has not handled it well..
my favorite thing in this entire skit was the fact that they had a backup plan for if Chris Pontius actually landed on his feet after hitting the trampoline because you totally know they were expecting him to mess that up
When you think about it: This scene was them at their absolute apex. You had wildboyz playing, Johnny Knoxville was in a great number of movies, Bam had his own radio show and his show Viva La Bam, and a lot of jackass derivatives were big at the time.
"The best of times is now" It's so bizarre watching this today, knowing everything that's happened since. It's wrenching to watch these young men run around singing this song, having no idea that their lives are all about to change drastically.
It's almost eerie. A show that (on a surface level) was so "dumb" with people who were, quite literally, jackasses, ended up being such a metaphor for how much life can be terrible (and beautiful at the same time). Looking back on it today, it's such a testament of those (best of) times: a specific moment in time when no matter how mean spirited the joke was, no matter if it targeted a short person, an overweight man, a different culture or just a bunch of jackasses who made fools of themselves, the point was never to be offensive (which is how it would be read today) but rather to laugh _with_ them while they were laughing at themselves.
This really is a beautiful segment. Jackass Number Two is probably their best work with how dirty and mean they got with each other, and also back before the boom of people on the internet trying to replicate the formula. These guys were kings of this genre, and it really was the best of times we had with them. Jackass brought so much happiness to teenagers and young adults everywhere, we've grown up with it and loved every second, even if it made us gasp or wince in pain. With Jackass 4 confirmed, I really hope everyone makes it out alright. I'm not sure who will be willing to come back for it, but even one person trying to keep the spirit of this group alive is more than enough, we really don't deserve them. They suffer for this art, and the best of times may have passed us by, but Jackass' legacy will live on forever. It really defined a decade of humor and is a unique time capsule of entertainment that may never truly thrive as hard as it did ever again. Love you, Jackass.
Boom of people trying to replicate the formula? Uhhh? Whatever “boom” youre referring to has nothing on the late 90’s. MTV had to tell viewers they wouldnt watch any videos submitted by copycat fans doing stunts to try to discourage the thousands of tapes they were getting every week.
Random fact: It may not look like it but Ryan Dunn got really hurt at 1:52. The fall caused a blotclot to form in his shoulder and he had a real chance of dying if he didnt get emergency surgery. It really shook him to his core. Even Bam has said in interviews that Ryan was never the same after that fall. He got really depressed about being scared to do stunt work and his drinking habit got really bad. He was actually trying to better himself with the drinking but it all went out of the window after the fall. Weird how such a small action could change a persons whole life course.
That is very unfortunate, but it's definitely the most impressive stunt in this entire sequence. It definitely looked dangerous though. Anytime you have a large animal involved in a stunt like that there is going to be an increased risk due to the unpredictable nature of not knowing exactly what the animal is going to do and when.
Dunn and Bam getting yanked is still so hard for me to watch, this is what caused Dunn's life threatening blood clot that made him super depressed and isolated for 2 years. RIP man we miss you
What makes this scene all the more hilarious, is the backup dancers still keep performing whilst the jackass crew lay in agony. The construction dancers always crack me up.
They came back to do one last movie, and it looks great! A fitting send off to the series as Johnny Knoxville recently announced his retirement from Jackass.
I love how out of everyone, Johnny and Chris' parts went exactly as planned... only to get hit by something from offcamera, like the wrecking ball and the firehose.
Gotta give them credit. Most sequels these day are pretty phoned in (mainly becasue they know people are going to watch them no matter what) But these guys set out to do things bigger and better for Jackass 2! Much Respect.
When Bam and Dunn were violently yanked by the horses, Dunn injured himself so badly that he developed a life threatening blood clot. While seeking treatment for it, he became so depressed that he cut off all contact with the Jackass guys for almost 2 years. Thankfully he reconciled with them in time for Jackass 3D.
The clot was was dangerously close to his heart and brain. While he was being treated for that, he contracted Lyme Disease. He wasn't Featured at all in 2.5 because he was Absolutely miserable when they were doing the interviews
While this sequence is hilarious, its also very sad. Ryan dunn suffered a serious injury when the horse yanked on him. He also had lyme disease at the time, which mixed with the clot sent him into a depression that caused him to seperate from his friends for years. Its heavily believed that its what led him to drinking which caused his accident
My favorite part of the whole sequence, back in the day are used to just crack up just looking at Stevo, he just exuded funniness, I know I’m late here but lock down you know how it is
If this had been the end to Jackass 3, it would have been a beautiful moment in entertainment history, but it still serves as a great finale to the memory of some of the most selfless guys in the world
the only thing that makes me sad is knowing that from this point, a lot of things happened to Dunn. Like the blood clots and the lyme disease. I’m glad he came back around for the 3rd one tho it was good too see him happy
The short and quick scream of horror/surprise that Bam or Ryan (I can’t tell who screams) as they’re pulled off screen by the horse makes it all the more hilarious.
Unironically one of the most beautiful endings to a movie in my honest opinion. Just a couple of best friends having fun and living in the moment. The singing, choreography, passion seeing all of them so happy especially Bam... damn
Man, i feel like all these songs like “memories” or this one hit different, with the loss of Ryan and Bam being out of the crew, yeah, the guys were right the best of times were here
Fun fact: Steve-O was off drugs throughout production of Jackass Number Two. He eventually relapsed and was on drugs again until he got sober again in 2008 and hasn’t touched a drug or sipped alcohol since then
This, to me at least, is Jackass at its absolute best. Everyone has their own time to shine and does something relevant to them, it's goofy and silly yet still immensely endearing and loveable. Also applies to the second film as a whole, Number Two is the movie where they get the most even screen time, best bits, most dangerous stunts and insane pranks and just where the jackass formula really clicked for me. If the 4th film is trying to out do themselves, it better be REALLY good.
