- A quick peak behind the scenes of our "Mega-stream Madness" event. I give a quick overview of my shack & what I'm seeing while live.
Filmed about 1 hour before actually going live!
If you want to help support the channel you can now "buy me a coffee" using the link below:-

Nice setup James great behind the scenes 😊
Thanks Motters. Great to get you in the log.
“Good craic” 😊 you’re hanging round my channel too much with lingo like that!
Nice insight to the stream setup. 👌🏻
nice to work you
Thanks. I think we all had a lot of fun with it.
Compared to my 5w cw qcx into the uk earlier, your room is like nasa hi. I wonder if this is going to be a new mode, livestream qsos, everyone glued to a screen to work someone hi. I wonder if anyone did work some long haul dx between you all.
Well put together james. Take care and 73.
Thanks Brian.
I mainly focussed on 40m looking for inter-G, so I wasn't really chasing DX. I believe Callum worked a few stateside. I did manage to get one DX into Michigan. Not sure about the other guys.
This was certainly an interesting experiment. I don't think anyone has done this before.
I know Ham Jazz got a few people together to form a net for people to call into while doing a single livestream on his channel. He did ask me to participate but unfortunately I was at work & couldn't get the time off.....gutted as that sounded like a really good laugh.
Plenty of people have done livestreams either from their shack or on a SOTA/POTA/WWFF......I've done all of those in the past.
However I think this is the first time that someone has got a group of amateur radio UA-camrs together to go on air & livestream on their own individual channels simultaneously & make it into a mini competition to work everyone by the end of the evening.
I might be proven wrong but I'm not aware of anyone else having done this before, so I think we might have just had a first!
Unfortunately I’m only on 10 watts so I will be walked all over by 400 watts 😢
Did you manage to get through in the end?
To be fair, quite a few 10 watt (& even a couple of 5 watt) stations did get through. I did make a point on a several occasions of asking the pileup to standby for QRP stations, so quite a few QRP did manage to get through.
I've just checked my log & 13 out of 79 contacts were foundation. There were also a couple more full licences & intermediates who were running QRP, so it is possible.
you wait until they get the new power. oh dear.
@@mattyfraser9487 7 out of 8 is actually really good going. Even I didn't get all 8 & I had the (very unfair) advantage of seeing what people were doing in our behind the scenes WhatsApp group.
I managed to get in with 5 watts Matt so it can be done 👍🏽
Did you get all 8 of us Motters? I did hear you talking to one of the other guys at one point but I can't remember who it was.....the last couple of hours (coupled with the pileup from last night's testing) means that my head is now a complete blur of callsigns!
